Does anyone know what average he is coming in on?

His average was 6.42 when he was  released by Edinburgh last week. But with the new averages being released anytime now ( calculated on the 23rd of the month), he could well have a different average which will be in effect from the 1st of August. But will start with 6.42 for the 2 meetings against Glasgow.

Leicester are not entitled to a guest for Bates because he is not in their top 3 averages . Nicholls, Worrall & Douglas are all above him.

You can have a guest for 4th & 5th average in the team if you have more than 2 riders out, but then you would have to use R/R for the injured rider in the top 3, in this case Worrall. But it seems like it's Howarth for Worrall anyway, presumably he was booked before Bates injury yesterday.

Lions without Worrall and Bates quite a few teams riding too

Only Sheffield, Berwick and Eastbourne not riding. Be interesting to see who Leicester get in as guest. Howarth (If he isn't crying about his tyre still) for Worrall or Doolan for Bates and R/R for Worrall perhaps?

Strongest option I think, would be R/R for Worrall & if available, NBJ for Bates.

Doesn't he ride for Stoke in the BNL who also ride on Saturdays

Yes, don't know who gets priority?

Just noticed it says, he makes his full debut at home to Berwick on Sunday, so presumably he must be riding for Stoke on Saturday, when Lions are at Berwick.

very tough on Nathan Stoneman who arrived with some very good performances and on occasions looked capable of not only scoring points v other reserves but also a few opposition 2nd strings and heat leaders.

Much as I like Danyon and think he deserves a chance is he any better than Nathan??

Danish lad a huge step in to the unknown!

I  would think Stoneman stands a good chance of replacing Jack Thomas at Leicester ,they can only replace Thomas with 2.49 or less, so Stoneman would fit the bill.

Would be interested to know how often this season Bates has had to withdraw from matches following accidents in early heats. Once is nothing unusual, but three times?? Is something not quite right....is he too hyped up "early doors" but then calms down after his first ride? If this is turning into a regular pattern it's going to p*** his team mates and manager off, and cost him money as well.

3 times in his last 4 home meetings for Leicester, all in in 1st ride, to be fair the  one in the Eastbourne meeting wasn't his fault, the 2 Eastbourne riders collided in front of him & he had no way of avoiding them.

Best wishes to both riders, hope they're both fit soon.

Congratulations to the Bears for keeping Leicester 'honest', under the circumstances I didn't expect that close a meeting. Shame the curfew hit when it did but that's life. We have a curfew at Redcar too, but apparently this can be extended by 30 minutes in exceptional circumstances. Sorry for the fans who missed out on Charles' last 2 rides (Heat 13 looked a cracker). Would have been interesting to have seen what would have happened in Heat 14 as IRR was needed for Broc and Nathan Greaves had already had 7 rides. Jordan's average means the one rider above him would be Tom who we were already riding Rider Replacement for, so who would be eligible for the ride? Could we have skipped a rider and gone to Ulrich or would we have been forced to use only one rider? I suspect I know the answer to that.

The willingness of the Redcar team and promotion to continue the meeting and get as many races in before the curfew was commendable (a couple of 2 minute exclusions or tape breaking anyone?) and unfortunately cost us a point. I hope it restores their integrity after the ridiculous comments made about them after the Glasgow match in 2017.

When using IRR you can only use riders below the injured rider in the averages, not 1 above as in normal R/R , so if it had gone to heat 14 Redcar would have had to field just 1 rider, because like you say Greaves had taken 7 rides. But I suspect the Redcar manager realised that the curfew would kick in before heat 14 that's why they used them up. It was announced that the curfew was strictly 10.30 & it was then 10.29, so there was no time for the 2 minutes to go on. Redcar did deserve a point for their efforts, Charles Wright was fast & even when he didn't make the gate he passed Schlein & Douglas with no problem. Good effort by the 2 reserves too, especially Greaves, best meeting i've seen him have at Leicester. I think if Nicol hadn't been injured they would have ran Leicester even closer.

  8. Going by Stewart Dickson's comments when interviewed at last night's Leicester meeting, it sounded as though Danyon Hume might be coming your way. When asked about Lions vacancy at reserve he said Hume's average was too high for Lions ,but understood he'd signed for a club not far away, which putting 2+2 together & Birmingham being the nearest to Leicester  means he might be your man.

Any news on the Leicester guest tomorrow.

Stewart Dickson had booked MPT, but he snapped his frame tonight at Leicester, so now can't ride. Also now no Josh Bates after his crash. With 8 teams riding on Sunday Dickson said on his interview on the Lions facebook page that he had rung everywhere & was out of options. He did mention pre-meeting tonight that Wallnger was guest at reserve.

Typical - had concerns about Worrall when Poole's track was in a bad state - now it's been sorted (I believe) he gets involved in an accident there with a team mate.

What are we looking at? Rest of season out? Would Nick Morris be eligible as replacement?

No, his PL average drops to 5.84 on 1st July, which converts to 8.76 . Richie is 8.49, but drops to 8.25 on 1st July. The interview with Stewart Dickson on the Lions Facebook page says he will use guests for July, then see how Richie is progressing.

Yes but he is more than a point above Worrall's average . Funny that Harris was able to guest for Worrall last night.

    Why's that funny? Worrall's CL average is 8.49 , Harris 8.04. On 1st July , Worrall 8.25 , Harris 8.08.

Is Edwards the new No 7 then?

Good signing for them if he is; might be a bit soon but he'll do well there.

The press release just says he steps in for the 2 matches against Redcar, nothing about him being the man to replace Thomas permanently, but I suppose it gives him a chance to impress.

This rule below seems to suggest otherwise to me:unsure:.I'm assuming the rule you have is when a team may have 2 riders missing and are opting to use a guest for number 4 or 5 and R/R for 1-3.Who knows, that's how i read it anyway.

    18.8 FACILITIES

A Absent rider (s) 1-3 by MA    G or RR

B 1 absent rider 4-5 by MA        RR (unless RR is already being used then it’s a G)

    C Both riders 4-5                         RR x 1, G x 1 at the Team Managers discretion

    D Absent 6-7                               G

    E ‘No Facility’

Premiership 1-7 Rider with a SGBC MA of 4 or less but lower than the missing rider

Championship 1-7 NDL G* not declared in a SGBP & SGBC team

You've saved me a bit of typing there, as I was just about to post that rule.  I think Stevebrum has read rule 18.10 first without reading 18.8 , which as you say refers to a team who may have 2 riders missing in which case a guest maybe used  for riders 4 & 5 in the averages

From pictures of the crash it looked like he landed more on his upper back, so hopefully no damage to his previous back injury if that was the case.

Hand injury? Maybe he's had another fight with a cinder block wall somewhere. Never a dull moment....

The hand injury was the one that caused his withdrawal from the Eastbourne meeting, when the 2 Eastbourne riders crashed in front of him & he couldn't avoid them. I know the last crash was the one where he landed on his back at the start. But he did tweet that he was returning after resting his injured hand, so presumably that was the one giving him trouble & maybe he returned too early.

Got a feeling that Josh may be sidelined again for some time. If so should a replacement rider be brought in.

In the press release for last weekend's matches it said he wouldn't ride for Lions on Saturday ( against Edinburgh) because he was track reserve for the GP qualifier , but would return for the Lions  match at Sheffield, he in the end did neither, but that would suggest he can't be far off returning.

Josh as tweeted that he's ready to return after resting his injured hand & will be back on his bike this week( weather permitting).
