54 minutes ago, JamesHarris said:I asked a question some time ago on here as to who was the last non Russian to win a round prior to them being kicked out and I'm sure the answer was Gunther Bauer in 2003. Could be wrong though. Gunther is there in Inzell so you could always ask him
I did do and he couldn’t remember the year but that sounds about right. Thanks for the reply.

Can anyone confirm if there has been a German winner of an individual round of the Series since it was introduced in 1994? The assembled press here are divided on whether Max Niedermaier is the first German winner of a round.
My current available records only go back to 2013/14 and I can't access anything before then as I'm presently in Inzell, and the HDD with that info is at home.
If you can help please DM Me asap

It's not as if there is another track in Berlin anymore. The Sport Forum where they staged the Master Of Spikes has long gone, with the building demolished and the track now an all weather Athletics track. Seems a little short sighted by the local Council, as they can't make that much money off the locals just skating.

I know the line up for the Gunther Bauer Farewell Meeting, but does anyone have the draw order?

On 1/5/2023 at 7:50 PM, iris123 said:Heerenveen cancelled due to high energy prices I hear
Yes that would be right. I understand that to build the track to the required level (20cm thick) would cost the club three times what it has cost in previous years, money which the club simply doesn't have.
They hope to be back next year, but unless Energy prices drop drastically........

Looks like the FIM are still not allowing Russian Riders to compete outside their home country, after the FIM General Assembly in Rimini.
Quote"After careful consideration of the situation, we have decided to maintain our decisions taken at the extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors on March 5, 2022,"
The Russian Ice season starts next weekend (10/11 December) does anyone know if we will be able to watch the meetings, or are the links all blocked?
-
Had a message this morning with a flyer for the Berlin Meetings.
Looks like they are staging the German Championship on Friday March 3, with the European Championship on Saturday March 4.

43 minutes ago, eric i said:I thought a lot of the ice races were Russian, will the FIM let them ride under a neutral flag or will they be band?
The Russians can't ride in FIM Events.
This is part of the Press Release by the FIM on March 5th:
QuoteTo suspend, for the Motorcycle Federation of Russia (MFR) and the Belarusian Federation of Motorcycle Sport (BFMS), the issuance of FIM licences and the FIM licences already distributed. To suspend the functions of persons from MFR and BFMS acting as FIM Officials and as Commissions members/experts/agents of the FIM. As a result, no Russian and Belarusian riders, teams and officials can take part in any FIM Events and activities.
You can read the full press release on the link below
I hope this helps?

At the moment, only Inzell and Berlin have confirmed dates, and I suspect the current situation will exclude any Russian involvement in the World Championship next season.
Berlin plan to run from March 2 - 5. The Geman Championship is pencilled in for Thursday March 2.
Inzell will run over the weekend of March 17 - 19, with Gunther Bauer's farewell on Friday March 17
No doubt Heerenveen will announce their dates shortly.
There is nothing on Speedway Press about the Russian season, but they usually announce the fixtures in October. Whether it's possible to watch any meetings that are streamed will depend on whether or not they are on a site that's not being blocked.

I thought he was playing it safe in his first two rides, as he only needed to finish 5th to win. His fall in his third ride when leading was silly then to get caught out on the 2 minute rule in his fourth! His face said it all on the rostrum.
Anyway well done to Martin Haarahiltunen, after an unbeaten performance on Sunday.

On 3/4/2022 at 12:37 PM, Technik said:This is going to be a very tough decision for the FIM but even harder for the CCP as the only Russians competeing in any form of motorcycle sport at present are the Ice racers, We have a while longer to make a decision on the Speedway riders but with the IOC forcing the Russian team out of the Paralympics & not even allowing them to stand under the Olympic flag.
I think the safest way forward for the FIM is to suspend all Russian nationals from competing outside of the MFR territory at this point.
I understand that the FIM are to release a statement regarding the Russian riders and the remaining international meetings this evening or tomorrow.

13 hours ago, Bavarian said:Highly unlikely that there will be any Russian riders in the Euro final in Poland or the World final in Holland.
According to http://www.speedway-press.ru/2022/03/marFIMrusfimsan.html the FIM are holding an extraordinary meeting to decide about Russian riders participation in FIM events.
There is also an article about Polish Clubs terminating the contracts of Russian riders http://www.speedway-press.ru/2022/03/marRUSleagueout.html
Doesn't look like any Russian riders will be able to ride outside their homeland at the moment.

On 2/27/2022 at 5:55 PM, JamesHarris said:If they were banned then it's a hard one. Would the western riders compete? probably yes. If one of them scored enough over the 2 days to become champion they will always be a world champion but would they be a world champion on merit? NO
Whilst I agree with you in principle, if the Russians withdraw/ are banned, then their points stand. But everyone else who competed in the first two rounds could also argue that they did win it on merit having competed in all four rounds.
The way things are going, the FIM have already cancelled the Togliatti GP, plus some other motorcycle sport events in Ukraine (due to the situation) and Russia, so it may well be they are banned before they withdraw.
However, the event is four weeks away. Things could change.
