  1. Not one to panic about riders but the season is only 28 matches and if you include the home match against Leicester then we have had a sample of 5 matches:

Harris - nor impressed in any match so far, if he has bike problems then sort it, if he is a happy father and doesn't want a big "get-off" I understand but move over please.

Summers - seems to give his best, reasonable replacement for Barker, so OK

Kennett - perhaps an appearance would allow me to decide if it was a good move to replace Wells with him, still fear not

KK - given the lack of effort around him he is still doing fine, always a worry that he can become disinterested if others are not putting it in

Nichols- despite his bike slow from the gate he still seems fast and competitive, more than fine

NJK/Robbo - happy with both although Robbo didn't start too hot

Clegg - was never going to work, would rather blood another youngster like Perks last year and benefit later like Belle Vue and Bewley

I know its been really very cold and wet but I still think that fixed race nights was madness, put on the plus side Woffinden, Pedersen and Hancock etc who all promoted it for years at least they are all back gracing British Speedway

Well apparently,  it did put the 'Mockers'  on a Wolves win.   Congratulation to RH on a good performance, especially coming from behind early on.   Of all the teams visiting  RH I thought Wolves would  possibly win  more than others would.     Those who questioned  KK to race here, sure had their thoughts answered tonight....

Once a talented rider,  always a talented rider....

Great comeback from the Rockets with NBJ (an interesting conundrum who gets left out? as surely Rye cannot release him especially on his average)  clearly keeping Rye House is the meeting on his own early on, and KK finishing it off. Big mention though to Howarth, I rider who seems to be very underrated and also to Schlein for some hard but fair racing. Wolves deserved their point.

You have to know the history and how he let the club down when he fell out with the promotion. A lot of the paying public wouldn't have had him back, that's why you get certain comments on various forums. Ellis Perks (British) rode brilliantly last year and he got dropped! I'd much rather have kept him than Kus, If you're going to have a team destined for the bottom end, then why not sign riders with prospects?

I do know the history when Kus was with Redcar last time and I will not divulge the details here but blame Brian Havelock for that not Kus.

But despite the above I do agree the treatment of Ellis Perks by Redcar and quite frankly all of speedway has been appalling, he was a breath of fresh air for Rye House and looking at his results at Redcar proved it was no flash in the pan.

RH v Leicester abandoned after 8 of the scheduled 15 heats. Keep your tickets for reduced admission to a future meeting! 50% off, maybe? No, 20% on the grounds that the result would have stood after 10 heats.

    "You couldn't make it up"

Slow down White City Rebel, under Len there was NO refund after 6 heats and I if you did get a re-admission ticket it had to be for one of the next 3 meetings not anytime this season.

  5. Amazed the match was on as it was raining most of the day here.

What was the crowd size like?

Overall pleased with the Summers, Kennett and Robson scores but one small point, when is the manager going to get cute with heat 8? there was always a chance this meeting was going to abandoned after heat 10 yet Robbo has 2 rides (paid 5) and Clegg 3 rides (paid nil) Robbo should have been in heat 8 end of.

Nor what happened to those who put in all the effort afterwards.........

They say the biggest complement is when they copy you, just look at the nomadic names that appear not least 7 "bonus" years foe Cradley fans.

  7. I hope the moto cross project works and that it doesn't impact on the speedway, but what if it does? We've lost Rye House to other motor sport before and we both know how tough it was to reverse that!

Oh Rob I hope not, I don't have the energy to go through that again.

Excellent. That is the way to handle the situation. Hopefully any negative feedback will be taken in the correct spirit. Obviously I hope there is no need. If it works and sight lines are not disturbed an additional use for the track is essential and should be welcomed.

    Good morning Rob,

Time to get realistic, the promoters have load a shed load of cash with the new TV deal and as the attendance at Speedway is not sufficient to pay for the stadium other revenues are needed or its Brandon/Hackney Wick time. As an old traditionalist I like a grass centre green but if the choice is Bumps and Speedway or Grass and new housing estate then its the first every time.

Well said unfortunately not everything that happens (and the reasons for them) can be posted on here but yes fully agree that if one talks to Steve you will always get a straight answer to a question.  Don't know why there is such a great problem with there being no p and p - think the answer is obvious (but this is my guess) firstly   the track was in no fit state because of the weather and when it was fit to ride on all of the riders were not available at the same time because of doubling up with other clubs - many of the team are already racing - still never mind I for one am looking forward to a good seasons racing at  one of the best tracks in the country for close racing (only my view) - lets all hope for a safe and maybe a successful season

Look I agree the publicity is not great but how one forgets the last few years of Silver. Crap teams usually bottom three, favorites Bowen Boxall etc, no atmosphere, double headers that lasted two days not two hours and run down stadium. Scott and Jensen have produced the best team in years (Poole 30 Rye House 60 and Rye House 49 Swindon 27 come immediately to mind), track walks and a developing (slowly) stadium.

Sure things aren't perfect and perhaps not how you would run the show but have some balance please.

I am only speculating but he isn’t riding in todays pairs meeting in Poland, so why not? He has issues, granted, but seemed happy enough at p&p on Wednesday. Pretty sure it’s not a state of mind issue, so other than a visa issue, which was mentioned recently, I can’t see what else it could be.

He rode for Kings Lynn last season before being sacked. He stayed in the UK. The visa would have been granted for working for Kings Lynn, so once his job was terminated did he have the right to remain in the UK? I don’t know just asking.

This might have caused an issue when applying for a fresh visa. Hence the delay in not leaving the UK, for fear of not being able to get back in if he went to Poland.

Or, in a worst case scenario, he might be in a position where he would have to return to Australia and apply for a fresh working visa to ride for Poole, a new employer. In which case he would be out of action for possibly months.

I am speculating, nothing more. I don’t know what’s going on but the way the club are saying the issue will be rsovd in a couple of weeks leads me to believe this all stems back to last seasons sacking which has had a bad knock on effect for Chris Holder and his new club. Nigel Leahy at Poole is an expert on getting riders visas sorted out. If he can’t do it, Kildemand might well be a long term replacement if he wants the job. If not, Woffinden is waiting in the wings.

Have to say quite a blow if you cant use Holder as his average was ridiculous and while many fans like to "slag " him off at present they would all (except KL) have him on that average.

  11. Football is awash with money mainly from the sky TV deal and the worldwide TV deal

Rugby League allowed TV to change the structure to Super League and are now building new stadiums from the bump up of money entering the game

Darts from a pub game to selling out arenas such as 02 mainly from the Premier League and other events all on TV

Cricket 20/20 specifically designed for yes you guessed it TV

But Speedway thinks TV is negative for it         "Lions led by Donkeys"

  12. Well the fans complain that promoters fuss over petty rules yet all this furore over Max Clegg. Rye House's season will not depend on Max and unfortunately I don't think he will  keep his place within six weeks anyway (hope Im proved wrong).

If you want to complain about false averages the Woffinden two years ago coming in on a 7 and Worynas 4.50 a complete joke that one.

  13. Don't get all these predictions of Rye in bottom two

Dads Army - well that was said last year

Cant win away - Poole 30 Rye House 60

Rye started poorly but the changes were immense and Rye were on an absolute roll at the end of the season Rye 47 Swindon (unbeaten for 17 matches) 29, see score above, so if things are same (I get the age and KK issues) but this will easily be a top 4 team.

What could dash a top 4 place is that I strongly suspect halfway through the season teams will change massively when the TV money is available and a number of Grand Prix riding haven't started the GP season well and simply come here to earn some extra money. In short the changes will decide this season not the starting teams.

think you must have missed the news post on the website on Oct 4th.  Think we do have a seventh rider and there are so many hints around that most people seem to know who it is but I think politics have come into play (don't  think it is anything to do with Max Cleggs average either

Hi Startline Sid hope you have hibernated well

as someone not "in the know" is the hot tip for No 1 KK?

  15. Scene: Dell Boy and Rodney sitting in the car outside Sotherbys

Dell Boy "Well Rodders how did we do?"

Rodney " well, we have enough petrol to get home"

Dell Boy "No you dipstick,    what was the score?"

Rodney "Oh, opening his programme   the score was .....Poole Pirates 30 .... Rye House 60"

Dell Boy "Well.... we have had better days"

He's been a big let down in the past and isn't exactly renown for his battling qualities. If he's there a lot wont be.

Rider of the year at Redcar I recall.

The guy gives everything he has, what else can you ask. Get behind your team and thank your lucky stars you HAVE a team
