Swindon End Of Era Meeting.
remembertheracers replied to a4poster's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thank you. I can never remember any real dislike between Swindon and Reading fans or riders, though we all liked it when we were winning! At least 3 Racers fans on this thread are wishing the club well and we all want to see Swindon remain for many years. -

I was trying to get you to mobilise action and opinion but if I cant give my opinion and state fears then I wont post again on the subject. My apologies if I've upset you and as you are a touch rude I'd trade Racers record of 5 league titles and World Champions against yours over the years any day of the week. I want Swindon Speedway to surviive too Mr Roundabout! -

In my opinion NO unless someone built it for them and paid for everything. If they dodge and swerve again in my opinion there will be more than enough to pay off the orange man too. Please organise all the locals you can quickly, lobby the MP,the newspaper, take banners to the farewell meeting etc etc. -

Not really practical as I live in Calcot on the west side of Reading and not Swindon. Believe me Reading council were every bit as supportive as Swindon's with all party support. and look at the result. Casino operators and the banking crash were blamed here, you have the threat of really local residents and that land for a new stadium being worth so much more to Mr Osbourn and the developers than dogs and speedway could ever be. Also I think until the closure greyhounds were more viable at Smallmead than Blunsdon, except for the BAGS contract, which could be switched to Poole which they only lease. Mr O could move into Sandbanks with Harry Redknapp then! Sorry if you think I am being negative but with no Reading or Oxford the only viable speedway for me is Blunsdon. But YES Buzz I do agree that locals should lobby the MP and the council and waste no time in doing it. -

There is NO chance a new stadium will be ready from scratch between October 11, 2015 and April 2016. IF there is speedway in Swindon next year it will be several months at (Sh)Abbey Stadium. All Reading fans would warn you not to believe Mr Osbourn - after all he wanted you to race Robins home matches at Smallmead in 2006/7. -

Too late - and by many years! -
On my visits to Blunsdon I've noticed the houses are going up but see no sign of work starting on the proposed new stadium? It had been reported work would start in May, but unless locals can advise otherwise I see no signs of it. Given Gaming International's record, in their many guises over the years, and their record at Reading I fear for the future. So no chance of it being up and ready for March 2016 surely? If the BAGS meetings were switched to Poole, the current (Sh)Abbey Stadium would be unviable. The owners could then close it, sit for a few years and build even more.houses. Be very afraid Swindon fans given the owners previous record. Clarke Osbourne must be nearly 70 now, another factor?

Swindon's New Stadium
remembertheracers replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Do the local press and internet media not have the b....s to start asking questions on this? People far more in the know than me say they will believe a new Swindon Stadium when they see it. Wake up and start fighting Swindon fans! -
Swindon's New Stadium

But when is building going to start? Cant realistically be ready for March/April even if it is built. Also is it true that North Swindon MP Tomlinson has quit the all party House of Commons speedway group? -
King's Lynn V Leicester (29.07.15)
remembertheracers replied to em1500uk's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
To hold any parade with the threat of rain is ludicrous. Speedway meetings should start on time - in reality few do, and I hold my hands up and say Reading and Swindon are/were bad on this. No other sport delays starts regularly, Poole did tonight with a few dozen late AND an above average crowd. That is rude to those who get there in good time. And though he is from Reading David Robinson should be dropped from the referee;s panel. He is hopeless, vindictive and incompetent -
Thanks for that Rob, I wish you and Oxford speedway every success. On for the days of Reading, Oxford and Swindon!
-
Something seems very wrong there, especially given the experience of promoter CVS and TM Peter Adams.
-
Rosco has always been hopeless with switching reserves around. A great motivator but a bad reader of the programme. Nonetheless a night to celebrate!

Swindon's New Stadium

The plot thickens and clearly this does not bode well for the future of speedway in Swindon. Another great club under serious threat it seems. -
The silence in terms of no replies suggests that all is lost at Oxford.

Time to lobby your MP's and council and get it in the press? Put pressure on Osbourne and company. It is currently (Sh)Abbey Stadium, cant pass health and safey for long surely? -
Should Rosco Still Be Team Gb Manager
remembertheracers replied to robert72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes he should, he isnt out on the pop and more like Muddlo. Woffy and boy Lambert are the only Brits doing anything - Bummer is sad, Nicholls has had the grace to leave, Danny K aint hard enough even though I like Kyle H, Cookstar needs to gate and hug the inside. End of..... -
Eduard Krcmar? Is he strong enough mid season to come into an #el top 5. Looked great in WTC last year and I think he has the talent but is he coming in at the wrong time. And will he get enough advice and help? Batch talks the talk but doesnt walk the walk as a #1 or captain, sorry Rosco.

Bandits hugely let down by Edberg, and by Hall whoF seems to have lost the racing instinct he once had. Look at the reserve scores! -

If I ever see crap like that again, it will be my last visit to speedway. All rather contrived but Swindon need a #1. Can Middlo make Darcy's Swindon parties as an OAP guest s he is usually there... -

Kings Lynn Stars V Swindon Robins 22/4
remembertheracers replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Can I ask what the crowd level was like, was it down after the Warsaw shambles or perhaps that Swindon don't have a strong team this year, on paper at east. Not a great score for Harris was it?
