Sky Sports Speedway Intro Noise
remembertheracers replied to mike1944's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
At 20/20 cricket at Trent Bridge it was Beggin by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, time and time again, slightly revamped but not a huge 1960's hit! Ice hockey tends to get the music right but then often it is short snatches when the play and clock stops for a few seconds. -
Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April

Apologise if I missed it, but having visited the SGP site I'd have expected an apology from them. -
NHL and British ice hockey on Premier Sports, some football other sports dip in and out.

Swindon V Lakeside Thur 9th April
remembertheracers replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hans was tremendous - the number one Swindon don't have. Well done to the ref for cracking on, and I got home before 10 - more like this please. And Rosco is still hopeless tactically - Blackbird should have gone in Heat 9 and had five rides. Probably cost Swindon the third point, a real howler. -
Maybe I'm Old Fashioned
remembertheracers replied to False dawn's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Now that is a good idea. Having lost my Racers and Oxford leaves Swindon as my only real semi-regular option. But the bar prices are sky high, almost no seating...and the meetings do drag on, and though I liked 80's music it won't attract many youngsters. And the crowds have not been good there. We have 14 intervals anyway! -

Why Bomber...
remembertheracers replied to RPNY's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I used to really like him but for too long his GP performances are just an embarrassment. Whether he was top British rider pre-Tai is nether here nor there. Finger out time Bomber, you are well past 30 now, you don't look fit and your bikes dont look competitive. As I hear you are far from cheap to employ - why? -
Dont knock Reading, it was built on a rubbish tip that hadn't settled. At least it has about 500 seats under cover, try getting a seat at Swindon! It also saw 3 Division 1 titles 1980, 1990 and 1992, Division 2 title in 1997. World Champion Per Jonsson. The best two announcers in Big H and Bob Radford. SCB saw a new stadium at Newport but after a good start everyone thought it would be good if Tim Stone wasn't running t - and look what happened after his death. As for Swindon dont believe you are getting a new stadium until you see it going up - Clarke Osbourne has form and it isnt good.

Excellent interview in Speedway Star with former Racers team manager and announcer Bob Radford, who like Phil Crump who was always one of my favourite riders, are battling prostate cancer. I wish them both well in their battles ahead and Bob's openness has given at least two men the incentive to get tested and join Men United in the fight against this under publicised cancer that hits so many men.

Riders You Would Like To See Discussed

Arne Pander of Oxford and Belle Vue's Dick Fisher were two very good riders that never seem to be covered Tony. -
Speedway And The Recession?
remembertheracers replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This govt is crap - end of politics. David Milliband or Blair v Boris - you may hate them but 3 top politicians. But that has little to do with it as bankers stay out of jail. I am going the cinema, very comfortable seat tomorrow = £5.72 Ice hockey season ticket £7.033 per game, good seat Neither get rained off, both have reasonable or comfortable seats. Speedway at £17 - forget it -
Ben Fund, Swindon March 8
remembertheracers replied to TitusTokio's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I know it would go against the ethos of the SRBF but I feel any contributions to riders who refused to ride in this meeting be reduced. If allegedly Roynon has been riding he is a prime example - though to be fair he is hardly an attraction is he? -
I am afraid that, in itself, it does not add to my anticipation. For Swindon to be contenders and retain a break even crowd - 1) Rosco needs to inspire at his very best. 2) Batch needs to up at least a point a match and be a real #1 3) AM must not drop more than half a point on his 'Poole part season' average 4) Wright and Rose's PL fixtures must be factored in intelligently 5) Meetings to start on time and big Ron's tractor intervals need to be cut 6) Modern music - Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Olly Murs, Ellie Goulding etc only the odd flashback to the last century 7) Tell Steptoe Fisher to stop saying up to Richard for the full and official ...result, line up and even ref's decision 8) If bikes stop find out why and tell us 9) Show some evidence that at least a few bricks are laid for the new stadium or is it a scam. Reading was! 10) Try much harder to promote the sport, the club

Brilliant rider, but too often a bad boy. There must be many who want to teach him a lesson and I suspect that is the case. That may not end with the FIM, but also with our border agency, instructed by politicians, who hope to win May's general election, though I doubt any one party will win. I love watching him race, but if you were a UKIP or possibly right wing Tory voter would you give him a Visa to earn his living here? Like chefs and waiters in Indian restaurants is the need to have a self employed star from an ultra minority sport any more important. Fraid not - call me a cynic.

Just hope its not Nicolai Klindt -
So many riders and officials spoke so highly of him. I'd love Speedway Star to do a piece on him, I gather his short speedway career was lively but short though he loved the sport. On the grass he was really special. RIP lovely man.

Bspa Meeting With Ukv&i?
remembertheracers replied to Skidder1's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Speedway has additional problems - 1) Work permit was granted to a club for an individual. He then goes on to possibly guest or double up, that has always effectively illegal hence the Jason Doyle position last year.. Speedway riders are self employed and there is no employer responsibility to collect national insurance and tax. 2) The BSPA collectively have a soft spot for Australians and in earlier years New Zealanders. Talk of sn election on May 7 is irrelevant. People generally are disenchanted by both Conservative and Labour governments, even more so with the Liberal Democrats. Hence the rise of UKIP, the Greens and for other reasons the Scottish Nationalists and Palid Cyrmru. Chances are it may take three parties to form a coalition government. It was Edward Heath who took us into the EU in 1973 on bad terms. Two years later Harold Wilson called a referendum with slightly improved terms for us and NZ and Margaret Thatcher sharing the vote yes platform. For those who want out as a non EU Norwegian the price for their trade membership only. It costs them almost as much money, they have no vote and have to accept immigrants. No leader of the big three parties has ever wanted to come out. Be real - what chance does speedway have of bucking all of this? Since Sweden, Poland and several other countries joined the EU there are enough riders. Any government of the day We are a very badly run small minority sport. It is up to the BSPA to get the generous criteria right and apply it. -
Think Zengota is a good signing, but doubt Miedzinski and Batchelor would be a strong enough spearhead. Swindon need The Kid to hick on.
-
I suspect they do, whinging is not confined to the UK. Doyle's attitude to Swindon is understandable having had a great year, then signed but not used.
-
Cant remember him ever remounting after any of the many falls!

That needed saying, well done.

Speedway Star - Can I Have My Money Back?
remembertheracers replied to Rob Lee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Think it has to Mr Rising, a weekly cant compete with the internet with local news, and only ever had a small chance against the local rag, many of these papers are going weekly anyway. -
As Poole have bought Dakota North and Simon Gustafsson is taking a year off from speedway it wont be a risk at all.
-
Kennett has been on the way down for years. He may be marginally better now but Mavis and Rosco gave up on him. i'd take Lewis Blackbird and Steve Worrrall ahead of him. And if Swindon dont use Jason Doyle 3 years after swapping him for Magic they are stark staring mad!
