  1. With Dore, Fearman, Higley and Silver they might have been tempted to pay. But the idea that high eg, lavish living Fearman would have coughed up circa £400k is ludicrous. Not long after he, or his company, did not giveNeil Middleditch is testimonial money sst Poole. Meanwhile Fearman had a luxury pad at Henley, a flat in Sanbnks and a Rolls Royce - allegedly.

  2. A few years back it was late even in Reading! I rang Royal Mail to complain, got nowhere. Then wrote threatening to send lettersj to the local rag (which no longer exists) and my MP.

Since then I have received the Star every Thursday, only once was it two days late.

  3. I sense at long last that Swiindon fans realise they have been conned. I gather much of the car park is now unusable and even worry about this season happening - in full at least. I think this is the case whether Oxford, where Osbourne was stadium manager in the 70's is available later or not. Remember they still run dogs at Poole for their BAGS monies...

  4. Why don't the local media run stories on the delay/inaction?

I have never thought the new stadium will be built as long as Osbourne and GI are involved, they will drag it out and play the long game. The current stadium is very run down now, it could be condemned. Or there could be a fire or two like at Eastville when they wanted Bristol Rovers out of the place due to a peppercorn rent.

At Reading there was only ever going to be a new one, despite the council helping with land, unless a casino or someone paid every last ha'penny of it.

A very well known former Reading official first met Osbourne in the mid 70's and described him as slippery and likened him to a snake!

Dont blame Russell, Bowden or Rossiter. They may be afraid of pushing publicly but why the local rag and radio stations have not run stories and asked hard questions on it in unexplicable - you begin to wonder how much desire there is behind the wall or earth mound of silence.

Sense Swindon folk are now coming out of their sleepwalking and sweet dreams thinking and smell the coffee for real.

  5. If Sandhu was going to reinstate what he vandalised it would have started by now.

Horton cannot afford to sustain speedway on crowds of 400-400 some 29 miles up the road, congested as it is on Fridays.

Well meant maybe but in all a disaster, and largely down to personalities given the 3 year extension at was a decent if ageing stadium.

  6. Seeing Smallmead derelict and torn down without development for nearly a decade is bad enough.

While I know Oxford crowds slumped badly it must be even more agonising to see a once decent stadium there and allowed to decay so some big banking business can one day make a mint must hurt even more.

  7. What a dreadful fixture list. Three matches close together in April and nothing till the end of May. Hardly going to generate interest.

Wonder if it based on the latest Clark Osbourne timetable on portakabin delivery etc?

  8. Saw on twitter that Bob Radford, despite his cancer battles, has called on the Swindon paper to do some serious questioning on the almost total lack of progress at Blunsdon on a new stadium..

Dont blame Terry Russell and Alun Rossiter, - back up the demand for disclosure because bugger all is being done. Like Bob we know what happened at Reading, let alone Bristol and Milton Keynes.....

Wake up and start a rolling protest to add pressure.

  9. Stadium building rationed in Swindon!

Fans hoping to see much happening get no Christmas present as a new Osbourne company Riviera takes over Torquay United FC.

Cant imagine what that is about if not housing in the future. But no good news for the Swindon Robins as we move into 2017.

  10. Where are all the Lakeside fans on this forum?

2 pages worth of talk so far and you have to add on another 50 to where Poole 2017 is at the moment.

Ok I will add some input on what I think Lakeside should be doing.

First riders they should sign are Adam Ellis and Paul Starke. Both were magnificent when Poole registered their only defeat and will give Lakeside good away options also if they swap them at 2 and 6. Ellis is an asset and doubt Leicester will ride Elite League.

Than obviously Andreas Jonsson and possible Edward Kennett being the spine of the team so it may look something like:

    1) A Jonsson

    2) A Ellis

    3) E Kennett

    4) Swiderski/Schlein?

    5) R Lawson

    6) P Starke

    7) J Auty?

Looks solid enough but perhaps unlikely to be the team and maybe Lakeside will want to use last years No 8 Dennis Jonsson was it? Another question is will Lewis Bridger be there instead of Ellis or someone else?

Dennis Jonsson has retired after nasty back injuries, Ellis wants to stay at Poole.

  11. Horton has put his faith and his own money behind both the Bees and the Storm . you want to strike fear into the hearts of speedway fans ,take a look at Rogers track record , every team and individual he gets involved with goes down the tubes

The Main Man has certainly weaved with magic with Harris in the GP's NOT! Very good at getting himself on camera though...

  12. If the planned new Swindon stadium is not built, and being a Racers fan I would not believe a word Clark Osbourne says, then that is the end of my speedway interest. I can't see it returning to Reading or Oxford, much as I would love to be wrong.

Battling the M25 to get to trick track Lakeside doesnt interest me.

My only speedway this year has been at Swindon and frankly it hasn't been a good night out....

The Premier League is struggling, the Elite League is a farce and riders riding for two and often three teams doesn't cut the custard for me. Nor do the delays - two and a half hours standing on sloped cracked tarmac or grass for 16/17 minutes of entertainment is not what I expect in 2016.

  13. Allegedly both Leicester and Belle Vue have a pile of debt. King's Lynn and Lakeside crowds must be poor.

Coventry have a one year reprieve. Will Gaming International really build a new stadium or yet wriggle out of it at Swindon?

The Sky contract does stipulate 8 teams minimum.

Teams like Glasgow, Sheffield, Ipswich and Peterborough would be crazy to move into the EL.

    Mystic Meg - please advise!

  14. No excuses now left, will GI and Clark Osbourne break the habit of a lifetime and build something?

    Still hope for Swindon.

    RIP Reading, Milton Keynes, Bristol.

As ever the Robins website is about the last to tell us the news!

Think Swindon will make the play offs, so possibly only two meetings to go at Shabby Stadium.

Does anyone know how many seats are planned for the new venue? Track length?

  15. Absolutely diabolical performance from Swindon, only Jason and Rohan showed any signs of beating the opposition.

It must be too late now for us to get anywhere near the playoffs unless Rosco gets the riders together at a track and gets them to sort out their bikes or themselves. The alternative is to replace a couple of the riders but I cannot see that happening.

So it looks like our last home meeting will be against Poole on 22nd.

Agree, dreadful showing from most of the team. The big let down frankly has been Nick who must have been expected to be a good number two in the averages, and a move may now re-start his career.

Swindon do have a home match v Leicester to fit in, moved from Aug 18 to make way for a trip to King's Lynn.
