A 250 everything is in the right place the right size and shape, the transition to a 500 is easy. A 250 is so much easier to ride than a 125.
There's a 250 for sale in the for sale thread, when he's ready for a 500, just sell the engine, you'll get your money back there's so few of them

But thats because you didnt want foriegn riders in the National League so now the PL is their entry level. If you had 1 or 2 foreign riders in National league then perhaps the Tims and other Top British National league riders would have places to go to in the PL.

You're once again dismissive of those who try to put facts and figures to things, but the answer to how much freight was involved is indicated in BSI's (quite interesting) video on the SGP website (see http://www.speedwayg...-up-new-zealand). Each rider gets a crate that comes to around 550 kilos, so if we assume 16 riders, that's about 9 tonnes. There's probably other BSI paraphenalia to ship as well, but I'd think about 12 tonnes maximum.
AFAIK, IATA airlines (of which Emirates are one) have standard tariffs per kilo that can be found in various places online. Whilst I'm sure deals can be done, I don't see Emirates listed as a SGP sponsor so presumably fairly standard commercial rates were paid.
I also wasn't aware that Emirates flew from Auckland or Sydney to Los Angeles, so even if some special deal is being given to the SGP organisers, it wouldn't help for a US GP.
And you don't think that the airlines or the freight companies are giving them a better deal. Remember everything Bill Buckley makes is exported around the world. I'm sure he for one has contacts. Maybe Emirates will become a future sponsor. Or even Air New Zealand
-
They are going to the otherside of the world and back anyway, it's a round the world trip with a couple of stopovers, not 3 trips there and back each time.dearer than than the one NZGP and back but cheaper per GP if you divide the costs by 3
-
Obviously the costs were great in holding this as a one off GP on the otherside of the world, but if BSI/IMG plan of expanding the GP to OZ and the US come to fruition then costs go down. Freighting gear on a round trip basis for one.
BSI/IMG surely look at profit over a whole series, obviously losses are taken seriously, but if it improves the overall experience and perception as a global sport, then i think sometimes you have to spend more to make money.
As for Bill Buckley his costs are working on a 3 year plan, next year his costs should halve as the track material, air fence, and infer-structure have all been purchased

Thats great, was hard to find any results and these did look odd with 2 riders on 15 and some with 4 rides and some with 5.

perhaps someone can put up the correct final results

Bjerre A blown engine and a popped rear tyre from 2 rides and 2 2nd places - so lets right him off
Harris - he must be there, cause he's planning to go out and win his next race
-
I saw you there Dave when you were walking through the pits, I was just getting all the riders signatures for their completed bike checks and I was going to comeback and say hi. You must've turned sideways as I lost you after that.
First junior will be there in June

The NZ GP may have been an on-track success, but the key is whether it's a financial success. I don't know what the officially reported attendance was in the end, but even with government support I don't imagine the promoter would have made money on it.
Australian and US GPs are unlikely to draw sufficient attendances to cover their costs, so will depend heavily on what local authority support can be obtained, and finding promoters willing to take a large financial risk. If it were so straightforward, there would have been more than just a solitary Australian GP.
IMG are media giants, it's tv rights and advertising that pay their bills
Monster are huge worldwide as are Buckley systems

it was the NZ media moving on i was referring to.

That is a good point. What do our NZ-based site posters think in the aftermath of the GP. How can speedway there benefit from its staging in Auckland. By the look of it the NZ media has already moved on.
You dont know what you're talking about.
We've just put on one of the most positive SGP's doing it from scratch with no previous experience us or the media. And all you want to do is nit pic. We know what went right and the very few things that need improving. give us a break.

why go to the trouble of buying a paper to see the results?
haven't you heard of the internet
The NEW ZEALAND HERALD the day after the GP at Western Springs. Look at the sports coverage for April 1 2012 Sunday edition. Am I missing something...?

We've all had a great week, we got most of it right, a couple of things to improve on
Think BSI/IMG were happy, FIM were happy.
I think locally it has boosted speedway's profile.
It think it opened a lot of peoples eyes here, on how professional and good you have to be at the top.
Hopefully it introduces a few new kids and parents to give it a try
think I saw 4 races from behind the mechanics and riders heads, the rest I had to watch from the TV monitors in the pits. So looking forward to watching the full replay on tv tonight.
Got to go out in the cars for the parade, was great to see Western Springs terraces full,
Next year I'm guessing the grass banks will be full too.

World Under 21 Qualifying Rounds
in International World of Speedway
Posted
There is only a certain number of entries GB can enter, it isn't you're under 21 you can enter.
NZ we have only 1 spot, and that's all we deserve at present, but all the costs involved getting from NZ to one event are up to the rider and their family, There is a contribution made by SNZ but it is small in the overall cost. And if he should get through to the next round, then that becomes another logistics nightmare, does he stay and not be able to work while he waits or returns home back to a job only to pay all the costs again in a months time.
It's tough, but if you want it bad enough you find a way.
