Harris average would of been higher if he haf rode the showground as his home track, hes far more at home there than at Foxhall, make me out to be thick if you want but just because a riders average is higher doesnt mean hes a better rider theres other circumstances to take into account.

Oh you're certainly thick but not because of your views.

Didn't a League winning team fail to attract a decent crowd so it closed down?

500 to 1000 people rattling around in a bowl that big would generate no atmosphere at all I am afraid, (even if they only used the Grandstand), as that holds about 5000 doesn't it?..

As has been said. Someone with a few million to burn is needed..

No consortium looking to invest to make money would go anywhere near it unfortunately...

British Speedway missed a chance with the old Hyde Rd track to buy it and make the required improvements and use it as a National Stadium and did the same with Brandon. Maybe seeing the costs (even shared amongst themselves) to bring them up to scratch too prohibitive?..

The Sport in Britain has fell unbelievably lucky thanks to Dave Gordon and Chris Morton to have such a World Class track and facility at the NSS..

To bring Odsal up to standard just to race would cost plenty..

And much, much more than any returns I would think..

The (claimed) main reason was stadium development but yes the place was deserted during the last season and it was embarrassing to see riders on parade, waiving to empty terraces.

Bradford and Halifax Dukes speedway team.

    Stock car racing.

    Bradford Park Avenue Football club.

All 3 above sports could be reintroduced to Odsal! - Would be nice!

Park Avenue now have a ground and offered to share with the Bulls but the Bulls are intending to build their own much smaller stadium during their two year stay at Dewsbury, there are no plans for speedway in that.

Worth pointing out that the rugby team have moved out due to the high financial cost of playing at Odsal.

    Would Speedway be financially viable?

No it wouldn't, this has been discussed repeatedly in the local press recently and the stadium is to be sold, if anyone has a few million quid spare it might be worth approaching the council, otherwise forget it.

How does Wallinger keep getting so many clubs signing him?! When will they learn he’s unreliable and doesn’t even score points. Barely any in the Championship and on a 4pt NL average!

I gather he has some top engines and is known to loan them out to team mates.

How long are people who were there and those who weren't  there going to keep arguing about this.  I've put what I saw with my own eyes I'm not repeating it again what I will say is how totally stupid to put part of a video clip on here. That clip will be picked apart second by second and people will interpret it as they see it not how the whole incident and unpleasantness actually started (well before the parade) and finished an Saturday.  Also just to point out if the person taking that video had been standing a few yards either way from where they took the video the incident would look totally different.

It also proves that a lot of liars on here have tried to milk the situation.

unfortunately we do seem to be carrying one of our reserves - i think it was a step too far for him. I'm one who complains about excessive team changes but maybe this needs addressing

Another two pointer isn't going to make a real difference, Bears are now in a position to try and bring on such a rider, their strength allows for it, very different from past seasons.

There is an excellent interview with Richard Clarke of Speedway Star in the current edition of Backtrack magazine which includes concerns about sales in line with the general decline of speedway.
However I believe there may be a way of boosting interest.
Given that speedway fans spend almost as much time watching tractors circling the track as they do actually watching racing, wouldn't it be an idea for Speedway Star to merge with one the tractor magazines?  'Speedway Star & Tractor Weekly'. It has a ring to it.

This will bring added interest to the evening as Instead of whinging and complaining about the tractor breaks, fans would thumb through the mag and try and identify the tractor type and engage with fellow fans on the terrace.

Backtrack magazine could also engage with this idea with vintage features on the tractors we fondly remember going round and round in the 70’s and 80’s.
Naturally the mag would be renamed Backtractor.

    Just an idea.

How about Shire horses pulling the grader, anything they drop could be left on the track to add interest.

Find that a bit harsh I'm afraid. Averaged over 4 (4.3?) from his first year in British speedway. Jordan Stewart only averaged 3.7 last year in similar circumstances but he's been flying this year. Think its a good signing for Glasgow (that should put the mokkers on him lol)

He'd been riding in Europe for several years, even Swindon had considered signing him on the strength of that, I expected more. Jordan didn't have that background but I'd have him any day over Mikkel

Is all this rider “swapping” In  “ best interest of the sport”.It harms it credibility IMO.Replacing injured riders ok ,but “ average swapping” is not.

It's just a circus act, It's like Belle Vue during the war, when the same riders pretended to be a different team each week.
