Who Was Best, Louis Senior Or Louis Junior?
Terry replied to Terry's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I often wonder how good Dave could've been if he hadn't broken his leg in '77. There was nothing between him and Chris at that point, although he was a few years older. He was never the same rider after that. It's strange how some riders can return from serious injury and be just as good as before. Ermolenko, Knudsen, Wiltshire, and other riders can't. Must be a psychological thing I guess.. -

I couldn't split the Grahames. I would say that Alan was the better team man with his legendary partnership with Phil Collins, and the way he continued riding while fighting cancer was quite incredible. Andy was so fast and the only Wimbledon rider to get the better of Steve Schofield and Andy Galvin on a regular basis. To finish first and second in the British final was quite an achievement although they were below the Louis's -

Phil won a lot of 16 lappers as I recall. I remember early in his career Jasons leathers had 'son of the animal' emblazoned on the seat. -

Good point. Even though I've gone for John, I will always be grateful to Chris for his help in making 1988 the best year of my life! -

On a lighter note, (or should that be heavier ), what did you think of the girl racer? Could've been Ryan Fishers sister. -

I really don't understand the Russians, why the hell would you leave out your second best rider. -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Aah, but none of those riders have the single-minded determination that Woffy has to be world champion. -

I wouldn't call us a 1 man team. Chris Harris usually does well for GB, especially at Kings Lynn. -

It'll be worse still when Nicki retires!

It was definitely England at the last wtc at Coventry, I remember the race suits with the cross of St. George.
-
Ok, thanks for the answer.
-
You seem to have all the answers, enlighten me. Why England in 2000 and Great Britain in 2001?
-
I know Kildemand wanted a place but I wasn't aware Laguta was overlooked, shame.
-
We were England in the 2000 WTC and Team GB in the 2001 WC, so I guess something happened in between! I'll continue calling us England until a Welshman or a Scot forces their way into the squad.

Totally agree, there's a distinct lack of entertainers in this years line up apart from Nicki as you say. Chris Holder used to be brilliant to watch a few year ago, but he seems to ride pretty cautiously now. Although I guess you can't blame him after all his injuries. Say what you like about Darcy Ward but the sooner he, Sayfutdinov, Grigory Laguta and Kildemand are back in the gp's the better. I just love watching exciting riders. I still miss Mark Loram!

Used to be a decent track along with Prague, til they stopped putting dirt down.

Of course he should, blimey we're bad enough with him, I dread to think what we'd be like without him! -
I bought the original version of that song in 1989, 'ride on time' by black box. Reached number 1 in the hit parade. Not 'arf pop pickers..
