Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April
Terry replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think a lot of todays top riders are getting too picky over track conditions. I've seen meetings completed on tracks a lot worse than tonight. -

Who says Chris Harris can't gate? Obviously it was the tapes that were slowing him down! -

Speedway World Cup Team Gb Squad

We'd have a chance with that lot! -
You sound a barrel of laughs...

I'd only allow the third rider to cover for injury. Say, I dunno, somebody puts a bet on Denmark and then sees one of their top two replaced three times by the reserve, they would be bloody annoyed!! Anyway, hopefully GB pull their finger out and enter next year.

Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April

Why take things to ridiculous extremes suggesting Mauger and Olsen? All I'm saying is if Gollob retains half of the ability he had 3 or 4 years ago he would provide more entertainment than most of this years wild cards, who (with a few notable exceptions down the years) don't add much to the meeting. Probably all irrelevant anyway as I can't see it happening. -

I wouldn't be averse to having Mr G in every round, just as long as he put some effort in and didn't just go through the motions, 'a la 2013. -
Beach volleyball, foxy boxing and hot oil wrestling, with a smattering of crown green bowls for that ultimate rush.

Tai Woffinden`s Crash Yesterday-sunday 12th April
Terry replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Looks like that bike was a 'cut and shut' Thankfully Tai was alright. -
I don't think that Dave Rowe is so great. He didn't notice Tungate had replaced Holder in the last race on Saturday, even though they showed Chris grinning like a maniac behind the airfence a few seconds before the race started! Nope, give me Nige and Kelv and their synchronised "Whoooooaaaaasss" anytime! Roll on Saturday

I still call them British league, National league and Junior league!

Rob Lambert Our Next British Hope?
Terry replied to sommelier's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Very impressed with young Lambert, fast and controlled. His riding style reminds me of Martin Dugard in his early days. -
..and another 'let's criticise Chris Harris thread!' Why are people always saying, "oh he should drop out of the gp, he's not good enough." He qualified and he wants to ride in it, so it's nothing to do with anybody else. Alright he probably wont do much and deep down he must know he'll never be world champion but, like Andy Smith before him he just wants the prestige of riding in the sports premier event and good luck to him. Like Andy he probably loses money but that's his business. At least he wants to ride in it unlike a certain Russian!

From what I remember of Paul Muchenes accident he slid off and unfortunately the rider following was a very inexperienced junior named Nick Floyd, who was so shook up the poor lad retired soon after. I remember the following week a rider falling off inches in front of Barry Thomas who miraculously managed to lay his bike down and avoid him, and thinking if only Paul had had a more experienced rider behind he would still be with us.

What a ridiculous statement. Dusty Haigh and Paul Muchene fell and were hit by the following rider which could happen on any track. I don't know what happened with Allan Clegg although I believe it was a Saturday training school accident. I don't hold with all this 'dangerous track' talk. It was a well prepared racers track which favoured the brave and produced great racing week in and week out.

Isn't Bobby Schwartz still riding? Team him up with Greg for a combined age of 102.
-
Great team man Finn, but never the most exciting!
-
Totally disagree. We had the best racing in the land on a superbly prepared track every week. It's true the lamp standards were too close to the track which caused the Vic Harding and Denny Pyeatt tragedies but the outside overtaking from Thomas, Morton, Plech, Petersen, Galvin and Loram was breathtaking at times. I don't think the more conservative riders enjoyed Waterden road but the true racers used to love it.

'Mr Hackney speedway' Barry Thomas. -
Best London team? Loram Galvin Louis Mogridge Whittaker Thomas Rolls Obvious really!

I remember a great race between Bo Petersen and Chris Morton at Waterden road which resulted in possibly the competitions only dead-heat.
