I agree that Eddie scored more points than Zenon in the British League but Zenon was so much more exciting to watch. He was more of a Gollob type of rider whereas Eddie was more Hampel, although I'm probably a bit bias! -

His equipment was certainly good when he re-signed for Hackney in 79. He lowered the track record a few times and I remember him taking Ole Olsen from behind (an almost impossible task) twice one night, and of course he was runner up in the world final that year. The clear second best Pole behind Tomasz in my opinion. -
My earliest speedway memory is of a rider in yellow leathers flying from the tapes. He was practically unbeatable during that 74 season.

R.I.P Simmo. Although he was past his best when he rode for Hackney in 1987, he could still beat the best riders of the day if he was in the mood.

Good old Finn, always being accused of having an oversized engine but never proved! I remember the night Ole Olsen fenced Bo Petersen with Bo running back to the pits like a madman before being stopped by a wall of trackstaff. They were never the best of friends and I'm sure Ole had a hand in Bo being suspended for a while for turning up late for practice for a meeting at Vojens.

He loved a good punch-up old Andy! I remember Louis Carr and Gary Tagg having an on-track altercation and Andy comes charging out the pits fists flying. Before you knew it there were track staff, pits crew and various riders(I think Thommo was one of them,) having a massive rumble on the third bend!

Best wishes to Malcolm, he made riding speedway look so easy with his silky style.

Who says Hancocks boring!! -
I had an in-play fiver on KK at 9/1, thought I might get some compensation when he led the final. Not fast enough.
-
Just beginning to. Think I'll stick to 50p each way in future!
-
Well, bugger me!
-
It must be wonderful to be as perfect as you.
-
Time for King Kong, that'll see me through until 6
-
I've got the same dilemma, anyone got any speed?
-
Got a horrible feeling he's going to touch the tapes!
-
Just stuck £100 on Darcy to win heat 1 at 1/2, surely an easy £50. If not, I'll be depressed for the rest of the meeting!
-
They should be bending over backwards to accommodate us. After all, we gave them the Queens English and learnt them how to talk proper.
-
Why don't they just start the meeting at 6am on Sunday, so I can watch it at 6pm on Saturday? It's not good enough.

Who Was The Most Frustrating Rider?

He spent 78-79 at Hackney where he didn't pull up any trees then retired at 24 after being badly affected by Vic Hardings death. -

True, he was on the verge of an England call up in '91 when he broke his arm so badly that at one point they thought he might even lose it. Never the same rider after that.
