    Swindon 2013

Now now gentlemen, this is a Swindon 2013 thread with good debate and discussion....we don't want it plunging down into a poolesque 'personal jibe'do we?

Fair summary theblueboy. If the rumour is true that Beefykeefy has mentioned, i would be chuffed to have Bomber on board. Not as a number one, granted. But riding at five, predominantly with the reserves, he would be terrific. I wouldn't bet against Chris having his best ever Elite league season in the colours of the Elite League Champions.

Fair enough Red Robin, although i think Bomber's average did improve on last year. Without the GP's as a distraction and the big fast Blunsdon track to race on, he would be a fine replacement for Hans i reckon. Didn't do so bad in the ELRC whilst missing the gate in every race!

Really can't understand that Red Robin. Harris is a fantastic racer who would be 100% for the club. Great potential to improve at Blunsdon, English, totally committed and would provide great entertainment both home and away. Without his GP commitments i reckon he has the ability to reach an 8 .5 to 9 point average. Don't get me wrong, Hans was brilliant for us this year, but he is around 36 years old and probably seen his best days now. Bomber on the other hand is reaching his peak. He just needs to get some gating lessons from Zengi!!

Have to agree Steve0. Sometimes Bomber is 3 bike lengths behind before he reaches the first bend. Mind you, i can remember him out gating the great Leigh Adams a few years back at Blunsdon and holding him off for all 4 laps. I was lucky enough to be in the pits area that night and i asked Bomber what it was like to have Adams breathing down his neck for 4 laps. He replied in his broad Cornish accent, 'bloody knackering'.

I have to say i love watching Bomber round Blunsdon. He is just about the only contemporary rider that can pass regularly both inside and outside. He is absolutely thrilling to watch. He will always be hampered by his lack of gating ability though. If Swindon sign him however, he will never have a better chance of increasing his average racing every week at Swindon. I know most Robins fans won't agree with me on this forum, but i'd have him in Robins colours any day.

    Swindon 2013

Only my assumptions Buzz. He still lives in Peterborough, is a Peterborough football fan and guested for them in their last match of the season.

    Swindon 2013

Despite my reservations about Schlein, i would have him in my side for 2013. Hans was brilliant to watch each week at Blunsdon and he is a top bloke and captain. It does appear though that he may appear back at Peterborough for next season. If that is the case, Patch and Rosco need to move swiftly to get Schlein's signature. I would be comfortable with Rory at number one, with Batch at 5 and PK at 3. My team would then be: 1. Schlein 2. Morris 3. PK 4. Zengi 5. Batch 6. Stead 7. Lampart or Aspergren

Schlein will be much sought after Sidney. He has pretty much got everything going for him in my opinion. Plenty of scope to improve, a real racer, totally committed to British Speedway, as brave as they come, and as tough as teak. If you read this forum, especially the proposed teams for 2013, most posters are including Schlein in their side! Have to agree though, he would be a decent number one and possibly the skipper. I am sure he would accept an offer to lead the 2012 reigning Elite League Champions!

    Swindon 2013

Both of those teams look pretty competitive Mattk. Not sure about Schlein personally although i guess i should give him the benefit of the doubt that he has grown up after the 'episode' at Brandon in the 2007 final. There is a bit of a love-hate relationship that still exists with the Swindon fans as well. Incidentally, it is a year now since the Robins management pulled the plug on the Swindon forum, anyone know why, and if there is any chance of the phoenix rising from the ashes? Yeah probably being 'poached'as we speak! Hasn't ridden the 'blue groove' well in the past mind Yerropes. Did pretty well at Blunsdon though.

.. It has to be Sunstrom. Blonde hair like THJ and MJJ.

    King's Lynn Stars 2013

That's a pretty fair summary of him GRW123.

    King's Lynn Stars 2013

I agree, the pressure on him to perform in a heat leader berth this season was probably too much to bare, although it amazes me how well he seems to do in Poland and Sweden. Janowski riding at number 4 would be an asset to the Stars. I have said it before, but save for say Darcy Ward, i have not seen a better team rider at such a young age as Maciej.
  14. EnglishRoundabout

    King's Lynn Stars 2013

He delivered both times at the Abbey for the Stars em1500uk, including a brilliant last bend pass on Andersen to salvage a point (later withdrawn). He's well worth perservering with i reckon. We at Swindon will probably not use him next season, so you can bring him on a little more, although i only expect a gradual improvement on this year.

    Swindon 2013

If Swindon kept the five you mention, and the points limit is around 41/42 we would have very few points to play with at reserve. Sadly, i reckon we need to stick with either Hans or Batch, not both. On a slightly more positive note though, it doesn't look like we will need to completely dessimate the whole team, as per the 2007 side or to a lesser extent, the 2010 team. Seems like most on here would prefer coninuity as a team as well. Looks like there has been positive vibes for next season from PK, the Kid, Batch, Doyley and Steady.

Last time i used them i used the Speedway Mail mate!
  17. EnglishRoundabout

    Swindon 2013

Is that the same Simon Stead who scored a 12 point maximum prior to the play offs and 15 points or so in the two leg play off? 5 point average my arse.
  18. EnglishRoundabout

    Swindon 2013

My thoughts exactly Buzz. The management are missing a trick if they don't put something on at the Abbey. There would be a full house i am sure. A 4 Team Tournament featuring ex Robins riders, or what about a 13 heat 'old style' challenge match using the six point tactical ride. What about putting the meeting on a Saturday night too? Revisiting the seventies? Talking about the seventies, What about putting bog roll in the back straight toilets too? Zengi is a good shout thecoombdog. Electric from the tapes, and has Blunsdon pretty much sewn up. Has ridden all of the Elite track too. What's your team for 2013 then buddy?
  19. EnglishRoundabout

    Swindon 2013

Ahh me and thecoombdog doing battle over steady! I only support Steady because i recognise him as a classy rider. When he is on form and confident he is without doubt in my opinion a six to seven point rider. I still reckon he has the ability to perform to that level too. Sure, he lost his way this year, but he came back and delivered when it really mattered. He is a must for next season. Not because i support him but because he is on a bargain average and will produce at least 7 points at home and probably around 5 away. Seb Alden, on the other hand, delivered in the 5 matches we used him. However, he has had two or three seasons with the robins in the past and has rarely produced his best, in fact he has flattered to deceive to be brutally honest. Alden would be a risk. Steady on his average would be a bonus.

    Swindon 2013

Agreed Orlovski. Despite really enjoying watching Hans at Blunsdon this year, if i had to choose between the two of them, i would go with Batch. Around 10 years younger and still room for improvement. I would go one step further and give him the captaincy. Not so sure about the inclusion of Seb Alden, although admittedly he didn't let us down when called upon on the 5 or 6 occasions we used him this year. For me, he is a little inconsistent. Robin Aspergren is a decent shout and still on a lowish average. My team would be: 1. Batchelor 2. Stead 3. Doyle 4. Morris 5. Kildermand 6. Aspergren 7. Lampart
