  1. Good luck. Hope things go right for you and it turns out fine.
  2. If you could re-wind back to March this year: A league of 11 comprising 10 home and 10 away matches. Complete by 31 July, no ifs or buts. Top 5 play each other - 4 home, 4 away. Complete by 30 Sept with fixtures set by the SCB. Exceptional permission to extend to 6 October. League winners are CL Champions. No playoffs. No pratting about with "we have to have our home leg first". Teams finishing in positions 5-11 (5-10 in actual case with Newcastle's demise) have a mini-league of homes and aways, completion by mid October. Call it Division 3, or whatever but give the winners a cup! KO Cup runs through the season but is lowest priority.
  3. Sounds like the poor sods working on the track were trying to do the equivalent of emptying a swimming pool with a teaspoon.
  4. It's basically a bad failure of risk management. If you do proper risk management, you usually avoid these occurrences. At its simplest level in this case, it boils down to "avoidance of the possibility for league championship playoff finals from having to take place during the second half of October". In most organisations, proper risk management is implemented in response to an occurrence. Even the Tory party (just about) managed to do it with the ejection of Truss and installation of a replacement. The BSPL seem incapable.
  5. I think the word you're looking for is "complacency"
  6. Cool your stooshie, the word is "ironic"!
  7. It is so ironic that the main stated business of the Bates's company, PBHS (or similar initials), is water collection and treatment.
  8. Someone like Len Silver who has no vested interest
  9. I agree, in these circumstances the final league table has no value in deciding the champions. If we go by Mr Shovlar's reports as truthful and accurate, then a decision has to be reached as to whether or not Leicester is likely to be capable of staging this match within a reasonable timescale (I suggest that by 31 October is adjudged to be "reasonable"). This would require an independent assessment to be carried out by a person of relevant expertise appointed by the SCB for this as a one-off task and for his decision to be final. Such assessment would need to be carried out and completed by no later than 9.00 am on Saturday. If he decides the Leicester track is unfit, and to be in such a state that, with likelihood of further rain across the next few days (i.e. until 31 Oct), then Leicester would have to declare their stadium as unavailable for use for the foreseeable future, and would be obliged to seek an alternative venue to stage the match within a timescale specified by the SCB, failing which the championship would be awarded based on the result of the completed first leg at Poole.
  10. Presumably you're going to share this picture with us?

    Wolves 2023

If start times of matches were changed to 9pm he'd be a world beater. Must be a vampire

    Wolves 2023

Wolves could use a few changes, freshen things up a to bit. Is Tai Woffinden going to be back in the UK next season?
  13. Breaking news..... Kwasi Kwarteng to take over as Chair of BSPL......

    British speedway is a joke.

Bad jokes are not "laughable". Neither are jokes which you've heard so many times, are just plain embarrassing. In neither of these cases, does the person telling the "joke" realise it to be the case, and so keeps on doing the same thing, over and over, until he's still performing but everyone's long since gone away and found other things to do
  15. Gives Kyle Howarth more time for his aches and bruises to heal and get fit again.

Period of mourning. No sport activities.

Complete nonsense to cancel events except for yesterday and the funeral day. Why cancel the last night of the Proms? Stage it as a tribute, cancelling is costing the BBC (i.e. license payers) a bomb. The World's a very different place now, why are customs employed in an age gone by, being applied now? What are people going to do - draw the curtains and sit at home in the dark for two weeks?

    Panthers v Tigers 29/08/22

Yes indeed you would need to. And it probably doesn't require much by way of additional factor/s to tip the balance over the edge with these type of occurrences.

Peterboro track being oval shape and flat, does it exert stress on these tyres which take them beyond their tested limits, so maybe should not be used there and instead provide Mitas tyres ?
  20. Has the time come to just regard the two leagues as separate entities, with slightly differing rider eligibility criteria and different sets of race nights?

    GRAND PRIX CHALLENGE

Seems to be too rigid on the bike this season, like he's trying to arm-wrestle it and perhaps this makes him less capable of making those split-second adjustments you need to do for passing.

Leicester vs Berwick 24 July. 6.00p.m.

I had a PE teacher (a long, long time ago) who "encouraged" us to climb over, jump across, run faster, etc. by promising to give some "TLC" to anyone lacking in effort and ability. This was followed by the brandishing of a large plimsoll shoe (these were the predecessors of trainers) with "TLC" written on the sole. I think he later became quite a prominent basketball coach, so it didn't do his career any harm, unfortuntely.

    Leicester Lions 2022 Line up

Fair enough, so it sounds like Mr Dickson has a project on his hands, I wonder if he will succeed?

    Leicester Lions 2022 Line up

Back in the good old days you'd have riders put up against each other in second halves or even in match races to decide who would be given the last team place. If Connor Coles and Max Clegg were put into such a situation, I'd have to say that Clegg would be the winner
