Re. telling us the stadium was full (Andy Jaye said this not Pearson or Tatum - Scott Nicholls only agreed, somewhat embarrassingly). Jaye also reckoned Chris Holder was "helping" Tai Woffinden in the semi-finals. Total and clueless spring to mind.

They don't ever reveal attendances so will be amazed if you get a reply.
... but he's happy to knock down someone else's estimation (guess). If he knows it isn't 395, tell us what it was then.

Come on then Watson, tell us how many there were if you know? 500 tops ...

FIM Anti-doping Controls FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship Anti-Doping Rule Violation - Rider Darcy Ward provisionally suspended
The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has advised SGP rider Darcy Ward that he is provisionally suspended (with effect from 28 August) pursuant to Article 7.5 of the FIM Anti-doping Code.
The decision to provisionally suspend Darcy Ward was taken following the receipt of a report from the FIM Track Racing Commission indicating that the result of an anti-doping control (alcohol test conducted by analysis of breath) carried out by the FIM on the rider at the Grand Prix of Latvia, round of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship held at Daugavpils on 17 August 2014, revealed the presence of alcohol above the threshold of 0.10g/L as fixed under the FIM Anti-doping Code.
In accordance with Article 8.1.1 of the FIM Anti-doping Code and Article 3.3.2 of the FIM Disciplinary and Arbitration Code, the case will be referred to the FIM International Disciplinary Court (CDI) which will adjudicate on the merits of the case.
For the duration of his Provisional Suspension, Mr Darcy Ward is barred from participating in any competition.
Under the World Anti-Doping Code and the FIM Anti-Doping Code, the FIM is unable to provide any additional information at this time. -
Me too. I loved Elfield Park, for all its faults. I liked the whole MK set-up of the time.

I think Burbidge is also employed by BSI, IMG or whoever runs the GP circus. Might be y there's no mention of Darky on the website. According to his twitter account, most of the Gp riders seem to be his "mates" too

Was Scott Nicholls pissed tonight? Slurring some of his words and not finishing sentences.
-
Did anyone spot the "incredible" action Andy Jaye kept wittering on about? Did I miss it? Which heat was it please?

Interviewer as in Staechmann? Think he has been poor so far - even worse than Charlie Webster.
-
I concur with The Return - a fantastic occasion, an awesome atmosphere and an interesting meeting ... but breathtaking and fantastic racing (the words of the over-excited Andy Jaye). Not from where I was sitting.

Andy Skeels is a very underrated writer. The Woffinden feature was one of the best in Speedway Star this winter - and there have been some corkers imho.
-
I have a subscription and get posted copies of the magazine - it really is very high quality work.
The production may be high quality - the editorial certainly isn't!

Screeny at his very best. There's a little football at the front of the clip for some reason. I think it is to do with commentators going over the top!

A real rival to Speedway Star? Have you seen Inside Speedway? Are you joking?
Anyone who thinks Inside Speedway is a rival to Speedway Star is about as on the ball as your average speedway promoter.

A real rival for Speedway Star?
Are you being serious?
-
White Knight - please can you elaborate. Why is it "very good"? How does it differ from Speedway Star? What are its pros - and what are its cons? Not seen a copy yet.
-
So is Inside Speedway any good? It seems to have gone awfully quiet on the subject.
-
Gambo, I think you will find "more than a lot of us" preferred the Star to the Mail - just check the sales.
-
If the speedway365 website is anything to go by, I think we are all about to find out just how good Speedway Star really is.

Gemini, your memory is spot on. Bees beat Hull 42-36 in the title decider, and then walloped Leicester 50-28 in the second leg of the Midland Cup final, having won 43-35 at Leicester in the first leg earlier that week. Ole Olsen got a 12-point maximum in the Hull meeting, and 13 paid 14 against Leicester. The crowd was over 20,000, but short of the all-time record Brandon crowd. Unofficially that was 27,000 for the Brandonapolis in 1951 - on a Thursday night!

Here's some interesting facts from Coventry Speedway re. attendances and how they have fallen.
In 1987 (when they were champions) Coventry's average BL attendance was 4,831. By 2001 it had dropped to 2,063. I imagine it is less than that now.
The 1986, 87, 88 and 90 British finals at Brandon all attracted over 8,000 - in 1990 it was nearly 9,000 at 8,960. By 2001 the British final drew a crowd of just 2,329. I doubt it even gets that now at Wolverhampton.
Makes you wonder where all the missing thousands went?

Is not Holder "mates" with Greg too?
