    Premier League V Elite League

I think the real reason New Cross folded in 63 was the competition with the Mill-Wall next door. Regardless of sporting competition up the road successful sports clubs will always thrive. Look at Leicester City, average around 30,000, and Leicester Tigers rugby, average around 20,000. Leeds football and 2 rugby clubs. Bristol etc.,Wouldn't have thought most Poole fans watch AFC Bournemouth anyway. Glasgow speedway has seen increased attendances, hardly in competition with Celtic and Rangers or Glasgow rugby.

Cant understand any kid wanting a Villa kit at moment, should be adults for a quid. Fun and games against The Blues next year, Villa are a Premiership side shouldn't be playing in Div 2. Swindon Town and Swindon Wildcats make an effort with the young 'uns, Swindon Roobins very little effort. Every year outside the pub in Cardiff I see the Diamonds fans group having their pic taken. Some clubs do make the effort, some don't.

    Matt Ford - No Sympathy

Matt Ford has made Poole the dominant force in British speedway, same as Man U dominated the Premier, even though they have been underhand/cheated at times, they come up with a winning formula very year. Most people are jealous of the top team, but it's his living and passion, and it's up to the other promoters to aspire to their success. I bloody loved it when my local club Swindon beat them in the Grand Final, and their visits to The Abbey double the crowds, which would probably apply to most tracks. Everyone loves to beat the top team. Shows how much league speedway in this country has gone downhill though when over 2000 is considered a big crowd...what a joke. Some non-league football clubs wouldn't be happy with that. The 8-club meet 4 times a year Elite format is boring, so are 65-25 one-sided drubbings, and teams and crowds get weaker. With blank racedays and ever-increasing match cancellations, the lack of a new stadium at Swindon, the farce at Belle Vue, when they should have been celebrating the new stadium, increasing number of guests and r/r, and the amateur way the sport is run. None of this which will encourage the missing thousands to return to this great sport. But speedway always survives in one form or another. Would prefer an 18-team league as they had from 1965-80s when British speedway was massive, second to football for attendances, and about 10 different teams won the British League. Need to get more local youngsters interested in riding speedway. At present would rather watch the GP, or a decent football, rugby, cricket match or horse race, than this so called Elite League.

    Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..

People may mok, but as seen in Thai bars in Bangkok the King Power Leicester City effect has given them a massive boost in merchandising sales. Imagine thousands of Thais wearing Wulfsport Robins race-jackets and packing out bars watching their meetings on TV, would be great for the oriental expansion of speedway in The Far East IMO.

    Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..

I hear a Thai billionaire consortium is taking over the Swindon club. To be renamed "Swindon Red Dragons", and only curry and rice and Thai beer to be sold in catering outlets. The Emperor Rosco as boss, and Ronnie "The Buddha" Russell as trackman.

    Supporters Clubs

With the general apathy at most clubs some would be lucky to fill a motor-cycle to away matches. Swindon Pit Crew club do make an effort with their fund-raising for riders equipment, supporters evenings with quizzes and sometimes meet-the-rider events at local pubs where about 50 turn-out. My old man used to be a member of Wembley Lions club, think it had a post-war membership of 50,000!!! You would be lucky to get half of that number attend at all 30'ish tracks in a week now. Speedway clubs need to get more involved in the local community, and connect more with the fans, with photo and autograph opportunities for the kiddies, certainly locally in this town the football and ice-hockey clubs seem to promote themselves better, and appreciate their fan-base more. Perhaps when the Roobins get their new stadium they could have trains delivering beer and hot-dogs and topless waitresses!

Cant get more extreme than darts and speedway! I love those arrow warriors. As they say football is an gents game played by morons Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen psychos and darts is a fat gits game played by fat gits speedway must be for mentalists...riding a bike up to 70 m.p.h. without brakes, sounds great fun! must go and watch this sport, if its as exciting and as dangerous as National hunt racing should be fab.

Not far out...could have been more of an ammering, well done Charles, the rest apart from Doyley are a disappointment. Should not have gone Aussie 1-5, Zengy and Howarth would have done better, even Klindt would have been better option. Bet Bratch is avin a secret chuckle to himself. Wolves line-up has always looked strong to me, should cause the Big 2 Poole and Belle Vue a few problems methinks.

    Swindon V Wolves 14th April

Need to get some of the huge crowd that were at The Farewell to go, there is a lot of interest in the town for the sport(most read topic on Adver website at times!), its just getting them up to The Hill on a chilly Thursday night that's the problem, unless Poole are in town or its a Grand Final. A few still refuse to attend until the new Rosco Arena is up and running. It does make you wonder about the future of the sport with a massive catchment area of probably 3 million that they can only attract just over 1000 peeps. Orlovski should takeover as the new PR man. GO ROOBINS!!!

    Swindon V Wolves 14th April

Seems like Orlovski is about the only Roobins fan on the forum, so unless The Roobins can start gating could be a Wolves win, weather permitting. My visit this year.
  14. Rosco's Red Roobins weren't rockin' tonight...one of the poorest Swindon teams this century(apart from the 2 seasons BIG RON was manager), changes need to made otherwise Doyley is carrying too many...step up to the plate you Aussies. Darcy Ward type riders aren't available, at this rate they'll wish they kept Bratch, need to be winning at places like Leicester. With no new stadium and a poor line-up crowds will be down up on Blunsdon Hill, so get it sorted Roscoboy.

Swindon - Wolves 7.4.16 Meeting Off

There was heavy rain later on though so the call-off was the right decision.

Thing is most people wont pay that to watch in archaic stadiums. 29 quid for Cardiff is very good value. People saying its much cheaper to watch in Poland should remember their average wage is less than half of the UK.

I live opposite Redhouse(Haydon End)no pole dancing as far as I know, although all the roads in The End are named after Polish towns/cities.

    Questions About Cardiff

You could stay in the gorgeous county of Wiltshire...great places to stay in Chippenham, Malmesbury, Devizes, Swindon areas, edge of Cotswolds, you also have Marlborough and the famous Downs, The White Horse Hills, Avebury and Stonehenge. Bath(The American Museum), great place to eat is Green Park Brasserie in Bath, good food and live music in old converted rail station near City centre. Somerset and Cotswolds are well worth a visit. You can get the train to Cardiff direct from Swindon or Bristol, and from Bath and Chippenham. Swindon about hour-and-a-half drive if no traffic on M4. Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire on Welsh/English borderlands also handy for Cardiff, good rail and road access. Enjoy your visit.

Where is the Polish dancing in the Borough of Swindonia? or is it in Foxies Gentlemen's Club Theatre Square?

Swindon - Wolves 7.4.16 Meeting Off

When the new Blunsdon stadium with roof is constructed will mean no more rain-off fears. Perhaps should just have speedway in May/June/July/August/ September, it seems half the dates in these months are race-free Thursdays anyway. September and even October are normally better than April, although last year April has some great weather. No meetings planned for September at Blunsdon, although Easter was colder than Christmas. The only definite meeting for me is The Cardiff GP. Have to feel sorry for speedway fans wasting their money travelling to rain-offs, and as a cricket fan as well I've seen a few of them.
