  1. The result flattered Edinburgh - Cook apart they were poor. Awful decision by the ref in heat 12 - Wright was in front, Riss should have shut off but went for a gap that wasn't there. The cup is the Monarchs to lose now- Cook was literally on a different planet - the most dominant performance I have seen at the OTA.

Totally agree the ref needs to go to specsavers awful decision cost the Rebels a 5-1

Brady & Sam produced a great race in ht6 a classic

Cook was awesome and it was nice to see the ovation he got from the crowd after ht15 top marks to both Cook and the Rebels fans, which he did acknowledge.

  2. From the Sheffield Star:-

Andre Compton is in line to return to the Sheffield side quicker than expected.

But that could spell bad news for two riders who will have to make way in a team reshuffle which has been made more urgent by the injury to Arthur Sissis.

Sissis crashed at Berwick on Saturday and is likely to miss the rest of the season with shoulder ligament damage. His collarbone separated from the shoulder.

Co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We may be forced to release a rider we really don’t want to. It’s the nature of the game we’re in. The riders have to be aware of this, I’m not prepared to sit around feeling sorry for myself or the club, we have to get on with it and try and do something.

“It’s unlikely anything will happen in time for Thursday against Edinburgh, but the option to bring Andre back into the team is there for us. I want to bring Andre back but we have to make a tough decision..it’s part of the job we don’t like doing.

“Arthur was brilliant at Berwick and he’s done enough this season to show us what he’s capable of. I think it’s unlikely he will ride again this year, unless a miracle happens.”

Bates’ comments suggest a middle order man could be forced to make way for Compton and a replacement for Sissis – but they will rely on guest replacements on Thursday.

Nice to see there is another promoter like Gary May out there

Is The End Nigh! I hope not!

Hi Hadrian Dog.. I hope you and the other fans (missing or thinking about quitting) understand that if you stop coming every week because our team of "second strings" are losing then the promoters will start wondering whether to bother themselves financially to bring us our speedway every week. Yes they appear to have got it wrong teamwise and not for the first time IMO but George and the Promotion team may see falling crowds as the fans signal that speedway is dying out at Brough and without healthy support no team can survive. If the "stay at homes" see themselves coming back next season when a better team may be in place then I would say 2015 could end up being the last time Newcastle had a speedway and 2016 may be a silent year speedway-wise. I think the next time Brough closes its doors to Speedway that will be the end of the stadium for speedway and a close down will be the end, Brough will never again stage speedway. The region does not have another suitable venue.

So take your choice walk away or come back walking away will sound the deathknell. I will be at the track every week adding my support even though I would like a winning team. If the promoters get support maybe 2016 will be a better team and a more successful season.

So please come back and support the team/promoters now in 2015. if you wait it could be too late. I would hate having to add Newcastle Diamonds to my Defunct Tracks website
