Yep, after 5 years of sticking his fingers in his ears and shouting "lalalala, don't want to hear that", he's found that by taking his fingers out, there's some sense being said. If that's what you call "listening", I'm Frasier Crane.

Held to ransom?? Absurd. The situation just became incompatible and parting of the ways was a natural outcome of that.

Apparently he's based in the UK, and supports Liverpool. So that probably gives him exemption status. If it was legal I'd keep DH tied to a chair in a locked room during this work being done.

The skill involved in sticking to the racing line (note singular) and thereby denying a quicker opponent from getting past is rather different to anticipating, reacting to and blocking a rider's moves on a track which offers multiple racing lines.Similarly, the need for team riding is rendered almost redundant where the racing line is the singular variety.Maybe at BP the team riding goes on in bends 1 and 2, for instance Kauko and Magnus used to have a neat little double move going on - but after that..?? I don't think it's just a simple case of "either/or" - you can get entertaining matches with the "right" result. Yes, a belter of a heat 15 decider (with the right outcome) can very occasioally outweigh 14 heats of procession sometimes because you go away with that race in your mind.

It certainly could be at times. Sometimes it had to be prepared so as toget ameeying on and completed. But that was well balanced by the opposite. No trouble passing at BP for visitors? I raise you Craig Cook at his NL prime struggling for 3 laps to get past Alex Edberg in 2013 for one example!

I wonder if there's the slightest chance, given the comment about race night, that DH will have an 11-th hour change of mind? When they approach riders, do they ask "if we had the home matches on Xday instead of Saturday, would that make a difference?". It seems a bit illogical, with a general move to soecific race nights in the pipleine for 2017 and beyond, not to take the step now especially if it could make the difference to producing a supportable team for 2016.It would be a massive shame to throw away the strength that exists at the bottom end of the team. Unfortunately the biggest horse has already bolted from the stable. BTW, Not expecting you to interrupt your slumber with a reply to this HH!

Netto -a Danish company I think? Sounds like he might have fished something from out of the skips round the back.

He'd have more chances shopping at Lidl or Aldi, but it might have to be food banks for his best chance!

Yes, and of course being restricted to the height of summer also means heightened risk of the broadcast match being disrupted by a stoppage due to the sun. Putting out poor quality teams, as you imply leading to 2016 being once more no Leicester away match likely to be covered, plus the lighting problem, and the need to try and deter viewers from dozing off on their sofas when the one home match is covered, can't be exactly making Leicester popular with Sky. Effectively it is rendering the league down to only 7 teams as far as broadcasting potential and options goes, and that cannot surely be popular with the other Elite league promoters either, meaning reduced attractiveness to would-be league sponsors. I bet there were huge sighs of relief when Lakeside were able to announce that they were continuing in 2016.
  13. .....exactly, and still be entitled to charge a loan fee!!

Yet on the two occasions Sky has broadcast from Beaumont Park, the track has been quite different from usual (some would say Doctored), with accompanying increase in the number of incidents/near-incidents. I think also on both occasions the match in question has been timed to take place during a busy period of televised speedway (some would say hidden away within the schedules). Ypu can understand Sky's reluctance to cover Leicester away matches, so far, but at home the match result is usually fairly or very close (no one-sided blowouts except when Mr Zagar's in the away team!). So why the reluctance?
  15. I think if an asset system has to exist, there needs to be a requirement that unless the "owning" club employs the rider within a declared team, within (say) a two-year period, the rider ceases to be an asset of that club. Any period when the rider is injured, would be added on to the two years. But overall I'd be surprised if the asset system is lawful now, so better if it gets aboloshed.

Well if they are playing those sort of games, it can't be exactly making Leicester popular with other promoters and among riders! And then there's the Doyle "transfer" saga. Getting a reputation as duckers and divers is possibly not helping much in the team buidling difficulties?? I bet some of them now think of Leicester as some guest they asked to their party, but turns up without bringing any food or booze and eats and drinks everyone else's, then makes derogatory comments about it.

Fair point though. Who can you trust? Not many, if the past two seasons is anything to judge by. The two Poles have now proved their loyalty, but anyone new, who isn't based in the UK, there's always going to be that element of uncertainty. Swindons team is now 100% UK -based. Others are majority Uk-based and where there are 2 or more non-UK's (Wolves) the riders involved have a good record of loyalty either with that club or recently at other clubs. So for Leicester the likes of Stead, Lawson, Barker, Summers, Fisher are probably the best bets to avoid the disruptions of the past two seasons from happening all over again.

Its just so bleeding simple and obvious that it's painful. Has been all along. Elite league on Saturday is a no-go. Premier league on Saturday is workable. Best day for speedway in Leicester is Saturday. Friday could be ok, but there are issues with that, so it's not an option at present anyway. The track is dire and needs to be changed, not just altered. It's not complicated, is it?

.....ok, but people have been known to change their minds if they are asked a second time, and even a third time. Not over till the fat lady sings and all that.

Auty and Starke must be feeling a bit uncomfortable at the moment? There are still a couple of vacancies at 6 and 7 elsewhere i think. If i were them i'd be making enquiries.

As it looks a case of mostly handbags at five paces on here at the moment, as the starter of this thread whose post you referred to, I will do my best to give your post the response it deserves although I suppose that only an official club spokesperson can provide the definitive answer! So instead of that, my guess, probably wildly wrong. That statement in the Poole programme just increased the already high level of "endearment" of DH among fellow promoters, adding to the previous instances such as his public criticism of the KL track, the niggles with Swindon over match fixture dates, the Doyle non-transfer saga, his team manager's public outburst against the BSPA management committee and possibly many more who knows. The other promoters may be wishing they had not admitted Leicester into the league, with their poor teams, dire track, adherence to unpopular (with the other teams and riders) Saturdays race night, and a promoter who thinks he can tell them how to run the whole show when he's not exactly brilliant at running his own. So I'd not be surprised if he's now about as popular as Denis Neilsen turning up at a bring your own food party and that his "ideas" aren't being given any consideration. But I could be wrong of course.

Sadly, I suspect Magnus and Nemo are well past thier best now and would'nt be interested anyway. There must be a better bet as a double-upper out there than Barker? He'd be a lot better at somewhere like Swindon.

How did Johansson get into the GP's? Can't recall which route he used but i bet he wont be back anytime soon. Barker and Beaumont Park are as compatible as Prince Charles and Diana Spencer. Beckett - your suggested line up is too reminiscent of the Birmingham team which started the 2014 season. Auty would be at no.1 before the end of April if they stick with the daft plan to keep the current heats format. It's deja vu all over again, but as you say what is the alternative......
