He rides the OTA well, I remember a few good meetings he’s had for Edinburgh there I guess fixture clashes will be key with his commitments abroad

Danny King is available now and he fits with his average - he’s got to a better bet than Vissing
  3. A great win for the Rebels on a lovely summers evening. I thought Poole prepared the track quite well ensuring there was no dust but worryingly a large rut appeared on bend one about half way through the meeting which quite a few riders hit. If the Rebels can replace Vissing with a decent heat leader (we have around 7 points to play with) then we have a very good team. Covatti was excellent again and looks a great signing. Poole look in desperate need of a consistent race winner - I thought Brady was very good tonight (he was made in Somerset though :)
  4. I may well travel down for this one - any helpful suggestions on where to park please ?
  5. Ive edited my reply no digging out or offence meant merely my opinion.Apologies if you took it that way. That will teach me for posting so late at night
  6. That’s not the point ! You don’t chuck a race in just because your 4th what if the KL pair packed up ?
  7. If you’ve not been to the OTA the pits entrance is just past the 4th bend and open (with no pit gate) he came out of the 3rd bend on the 3rd lap and just looked like he gave up when stone last . Ofcourse he may have had a bike problem but it didn’t look like it
  8. The point is Vissing has replaced a heat leader who was regularly winning races particularly at home. The added benefit of having Covatti at reserve is lost by having Vissing - he wouldn’t even make a good reserve at this level - let alone heat leader.
  9. Totally agree. Gary Mays made a howler in signing Vissing he’s woeful and has to go otherwise the play offs are gone. Bring back Wrighty !!! Two other things : 1. Doyle - what was he doing in heat 13 riding into the pits with a lap to go. It didn’t look like he had a bike problem more he just threw his dummy out his pram as it wasn’t going for him. 2. The track - its been crap all season. The racing is woeful and most meetings have one line - it’s follow leader and awful entertainment despite the announcers churning out the same old tribe each week about what fantastic racing we have. Sorry this won’t wash anymore and needs sorting out. The club have had 3 months now to sort this - no more excuses get the track issues resolved and restore the OTA back to where it should be , as one of the best race tracks in the country.

If it’s true that Charles was sacked via text that is disgraceful behaviour to an employee who has given the club 6 years loyal service.

Gutted about this, Charles is terrific value around the OTA and Always gives 110%. I’m disappointed any differences couldn’t be resolved. The two changes significantly weaken us. I feel sorry for Jonas he was on the pace and I felt some decent scores were not far away, maybe we will use again in the future. Thank you Charles for 6 great seasons, fantastic entertainment and unquestionable commitment on the track.
  12. A great nights entertainment, well done to the Rebels on the win and the Aces thoroughly deserved a point, they have a fine team again and will be much stronger when Steve W returns. A special mention to Todd Kurtz who covered admirably for BWD and to James Shanes who was on the pace throughout - if only that boy could make a start. Finally well done to the promotion for sorting the track out, this must have been a major concern and let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come and more great racing is ahead over the summer.
  13. The Rebels are significantly under strength for this one - if Tungate and one of the BV reserves fire this could be a v close meeting.
  14. Somerset’s crowds looked down on last year to me based on the first 2 meetings. Not sure what the crowd was like tonight ?
  15. That’s 3 meetings in a row now with track issues, the club need to sort this urgently or crowd numbers will dwindle.
  16. I’m think it’s a tough meeting to call it could go either way - Holder is key for the Rebels - Shame I can’t make it due to work commitments ( bloody Weds night racing )
  17. The Pirates look too strong for me around the OTA. It will be great to see Brady and Josh back
  18. Good call with the forecast - I think a fair few would have stayed away anyway with Liverpool vs City in the Champions league Quarter Final the same night.

Clubs will end up with lower attendances if they keep reducing the fixture list due to punters habits. If the argument is the clubs can’t afford more fixtures, then that implies they are not breaking even on the fixtures they have, which is a whole other debate. I don’t buy that crowds will drop if you went from say 15 home fixtures a season to 20, especially if you programme them to gain the maximum commercial benefit during the peak periods which a lot of clubs don’t!

What a complete joke this is pretty much 2 home fixtures a month apart from August - what complete morons we have running the sport in this country. A perfect remedy to put supporters off who will clearly get out of the habit of attending very quickly.

Fair play to the club - several sponsors must have played their part. Terrific signing and a decent looking team who can all increase their starting average. Also great for British Speedway that the World Champion is riding here!

Those questioning Wright just don’t understand Somerset. He’s part of the DNA of the club and terrific entertainment and shows 110% commitment week in week out. Welcome back Wrighty delighted your back !!!
