  1. I believe he still holds the track record at Mildenhall.

He scored 17 points from 6 rides last week at IOW. The opposition included Morley, Trigger, Kingston, Congrieve, Butcher etc none of them slouches, he also got the Fastest time of the night. Not bad for someone who hasn't been on a bike for years.

There is no doubt he has huge natural talent but will anyone take a chance on him!

None of them as good as Jenkins in my opinion, especially this year. Jenkins and Thompson have been picked as a rising star, whereas Bailey was overlooked.

Just looking at 2023 averages (rolling for the Champ), Jenkins stands out...

    NDL

    1. Jordan Jenkins – 11.04
    2. Connor Bailey – 10.25
    3. Dan Thompson – 10.13
    4. Alfie Bowtell – 9.26
    5. Max Clegg - TBC

    Champ

    1. Jordan Jenkins – 6.43
    2. Dan Thompson – 5.88
    3. Alfie Bowtell – 5.27
    4. Connor Bailey – 4.81
    5. Max Clegg – 4.60

    Prem

    1. Dan Thompson – 4.00
    2. Jordan Jenkins – 3.94

And if it was still in doubt, Jenkins is also the National Development League Riders' Champion.

Have to agree, Jenkins as well as being the current NL Champ is the form rider in the NL at the moment. My point was Thompson is nowhere near the best rider in the NL.

Clegg by the way has a NL average of 11.83.

  3. The SCB have revoked Kent Royals license and imposed a fine on Kent NL speedway. The revoking of the license is suspended.

This apparently is for allowing the recent Nora league amateur meeting to be held at Iwade!   Even though it has nothing to do with Kent speedway.

How ridiculous is the SCB getting.

    • Just had a look a clear website, but I've updated my password  as asked, but you have to choose your favourite team, but only covers 2 leagues, can't pick Workington as my favourite team . Maybe bsn can tweak the login question to cover national League teams ?

Just done the exact same thing & couldn't pick Kent! So I had a toss up between B Vue (best race track) or Ipswich ( Just signed Emil) :)

So Si has said that he's hoping to have 4 of last season's team back for 2023.

Which 4 do the fans want?

I'd love to see Alfie back, but will we go with a such a strong top two again? Ben Morley I would guess is a certainty, and I would suspect Joe Alcock is also, given his starting average, albeit it's a gamble that he can return and produce the form he was showing prior to his nasty smash. My fourth bet would be Connor King, who showed plenty of spirit after he joined.

Our having such a strong top two did us proud at Iwade in all those last heat deciders, but our lack of strength lower down saw us struggle away.

Given the loss of Plymouth, and the possibility of Mildenhall riders also becoming available, the choice of riders might be such that a more balanced side is preferable. What would the Iwade faithful prefer?

Personally I would like to see Jack Kingston in the seven, and a young hopeful at reserve. Is Sonny Springer too young still?

Si did brilliantly last year to get such a side together so late in the day. This year he will have more time and choice.

I'm looking forward to it already, as I look out at the snow!

Have to agree with you hawks. Morley, King & Alcock must be nailed on.

I would add Ben Trigger to the wanted list & I would also like to see Ablitt back at Kent if Si can see past his non arrival at Edinburgh.

What an insult to the paying public. Kent need to be disciplined for putting out such a terrible team to stop this kind of thing happening again in the future. Yes the NDL is about development, but it's still a product at the end of the day, one that NEEDS fans. Throwing in sub standard riders into the team is just awful and shows little respect for the paying public.

You must have had different guests in mind other than the ones Kent have chosen, out of interest who would they have been?

Not sure why a club should get "special dispensation" for a guest, according to the rules they should either be allowed a guest or not!

Rules should be black & white and easy to understand!

I would guess Shanes is riding in a FIM type event somewhere ( maybe long track ) in which case they would be allowed a guest even if the rider is not a number 1.

The management have now looked into this with a view to combining the sun break and interval which will take place after heat 15 to avoid delays.

Personally I think the twins have out grown this level of the sport. Their only gain will be experience at other tracks fielding teams at both NDL and Championship level. Even when they do race at these tracks, if they are going to progress, are other NDL level riders going to push them to the next level?

I think the answer to your question is, They have certainly not outgrown the National league. In the 2 National league standard meetings the twins have ridden in this season at other tracks   ( both independent tracks ) Mildenhall & Kent, the twins have managed 4 race wins out of 19 races between them, both were beaten 5 times by home riders at Kent yesterday. So yes there is no doubt other riders will push them and in my opinion the National league is perfect for their continued progress in the the sport.

Have to say some of the races the twins were in yesterday were fantastic and I really hope to see them back at Kent again this season.

Our first time at Iwade found the track with the help of satnav. We sat on first bend, pa system was fine there, could have done with some background music, but not as deafening as it used to be at Eastbourne.  Delays between races need to be sorted.  It's a new venture so hopefully as weeks go on things will improve as we definitely need some speedway south of the river as the only other two tracks in the South are Poole and Plymouth much too far for us to travel.  Didn't try the food outlet so can't comment on that but toilet facilities definitely need improvement which hopefully will also happen in time.

Planning restriction says no music allowed!

I am thinking of popping over the bridge to see the Lakeside lads later in month. Is there plenty of parking at Iwade? Any tips from people who have been in the past? TIA

Plenty of parking, they are opening up a field on the left as you drive into the 'stadium'.

Other tips. Bring a chair if you want to sit down. Bring an extra coat if its cold and try the burgers the one I had at p & p was lovely.

Gilkes for me is the main man this season can’t see many stopping him apart from maybe bowtell.

Have to agree, Gilkes finished comfortably as the top man last season & I don't see any reason for him not to be top again this season, followed by Bowtell, Jenkins & Dan Thompson.

Belle Vue to win the league & Ablitt to be pushing for BV No 1.
