How do we improve the set up of British speedway?? Surely we cannot continue to race across 5 nights per week. We want the best riders all of the time not some of the time. Sat meeting at Leicester v Swindon was a joke!!

One elite league race night for all clubs home and away....... Monday and Wednesday with perhaps Friday as a day for rearranged fixtures. That way each team should be represented the vast majority of times -
How do we make speedway financially accountable and transparent???? Tooooooo much secrecy!! We must secure a solid, secure, structured speedway for all.People must be accountable as to how they run and finance OUR sport. How do we begin to get answers???????????????

Yeh course..........unfortunately I"m not an accountant. However I believe 99% staff are volunteers! Even so I believe that all clubs accounts must be visable.!! We need to know whether or not speedway can advance with the correct financing! Or do we end up with a league full of bankrupt clubs. What comes first.....Sustainable speedway or do we buy a bigger bucket of sand to bury our heads?????

Premier League Pairs - Friday 11th July
wilsonpaul198 replied to Marksman's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
The premier league need to buy into the fast track process. We need a stepping stone from NL to Elite. Riders could be relegated, promoted or moved into the main body of the team depending on their averages. I.E Lewis Blackbird needs to be moved into the main body of the team creating a space for the next FTR who has had experience in the premier league (A.Birks springs to mind). If we are going to use a fast track system then lets do it correctly. Their must be structure. Not just shell out the kids if they are struggling. At least a rider struggling in the Elite league would now that he would have a ride in the premier. Hopefully in a few years the premier pairs would then have a majority of British riders and the future would look promising -

How many fast track riders from the ELITE league are riding??? OMG how on earth can we set up a fast track system that allows the premier league to avoid their responsibility to advance the British cause. We have middle aged Aussies, Germans and Americians riding. -
Totally agree with these comments. We are taken for granted plus the slickness of organising an FIM meeting disappears for the normal league meeting. Nevertheless,at present I will continue to put the club before any one individual. Changes required though!!!!!

Unfortunatley you could be correct. I"d like to know the stats for the Elite league 1st bend winners though. Each time I watch it on SKY the majority of races are settled after the first lap at the latest. Most after the 2nd bend.

The fast track scheme if set up correctly will only benefit British speedway. Nothing more pleasing than to watch the progress of Max Clegg at Leicester. A definite future under 21 champion. However what is the point of fast tracking a 25 year old with 10 yrs racing experience???. We must refine the draft system and we must include the premier league. If a young rider is fast tracked into the elite league he must also have the ability and oppertunity to ride in the premier league. Maybe Elite league should employ pool one draft riders one per team with a guaranteed doubling up spot in the premier league. The premier league to employ one rider from pool 2. We must also make sure that we do not leave riders like Ashley Birks out in the cold. I hope the powers that be refine the system so that it supports progressive young riders.

Big Leicester lions fan and have not missed a home meeting since we came back. Massive thanks to David Hemsley. Think though maybe we should call off Saturday meeting now that Davey Watt out as well as 3 main team lions. -

Surely its time elite league had its own race night. Lets stop being too british whilst employing riders whose main income comes from mainland Europe. All teams race on the same night. I believe all fans would still turn up. Especially if all the top team riders are available!!. We love our racing but are fed up with being short changed. We really have to be more inclusive of the BIGGER speedway family
