  1. I have never posted before but tonight I feel I must. I have just watched KL v Leicester on bet365. I saw one pass all night. To say Leicester is the worst track is ridiculous. I have been to most of the matches at Leicester since they opened and have seen some entertaining meetings. Yes the track should be a different shape, but it isn't so we just have to live with it. I also go to Peterborough every week and it is unfair to compare the two. At least Leicester has got a track with a good crowd. I have supported speedway for many years, mainly in Yorkshire and have seen the demise of Halifax and Bradford, two of the best tracks there have been, in my opinion. We MUST support the remaining tracks or we will drive all the promotors away and we will have nothing to support. We must start taking about the positives in the sport before it's too late. So please Anti- Leicester people start thinking about what you are doing to the sport.

I agree. Perhaps I have been over zealous in my defence of Leicester. Just seemed very one sided criticism and I believed we needed a level playing field. Yes perhaps the track does need altered. The straights generate too much speed. We do have a nice set up and are attracting good riders and good crowds. After so many years out we really want to succeed. Most of your clubs welcome the travelling support gate receipts that we bring. The intention was not to offend anyone. If so apologies. Just please give Leicester credit were its due!. Speedway is one family with frienships generatated at each track. Long may it continue.

  2. Great result lions..............all you detractors of Leicester speedway take note...... only 1 yes ONE overtaking move to night on the best track in the country. S..t track or what?? Maybe you should all look for another topic to post your unprecendent biased opinions. Maybe the colour of the grass or it rains too much!!! Eyes wide shut or what?????????????

  3. I think Josh's knock on the hand had something to do with a brezze block wall jumping out and smacking into his right hand. It even made him swear after it hit him.

I just hope that this is not another one of the Lions riders that we never see again. The lad has so much to offer in the coming years same goes for Max Clegg.

I think once they have managed to get over this first season they will start to get it together and become riders to be proud of.

I just hope that the fans and the management stick with them for next year and that the words that Norrie Allen made on Sky on Saturday about our 2 reserves that there will be changes made as they are not delivering the goods doe''s not happen.

These 2 lads are only 16 and 17, so still learning thier trade so to speak, I hope they manage to give them the time and give them some good advice, instead of slgging them off, because this will only cause the to feel that they are letting down the team.

They will have had a year behind them and I can't wait to see them next season,

    Top class post!!!!!

  4. Should be a tighter affair this evening now that Norfolk Arena's resident reserve Simon Lambert is riding for the Lions! He's always looked like he could hold his own this season and should get 8 points from his 5 rides.

Hopefully, two pretty even 1-5's, coupled with better Lions reserves, should mean that there will be no need for any tacticals, which gave the meeting earlier in the season a somewhat closer feel than what it was (Lions scored 6 on both t/r occasions).

Tacticals is the worst rule in speedway. If the Lions loose by 20/30 points the fault lies with us and we need to sort it. No other sport gives free hand outs.

  5. Watching Jason Doyle and some of the others top riders on Monday's tele program, going flat out down the back straight and into the corners full belt is part of the attraction of the sport. If some riders find that difficult then that's unfortunate and should probably pack up. Doyle proved beyond doubt the track is safe and not dangerous.

Wolves Monmore Green Track is of similar shape, with longer straights and tight corners, and that's regarded as one of the best around. I've seen some brilliant races there.

Young and inexperience riders could find these tight corners too technical and struggle. So it would be wrong to blame everything just on the shape of the track. There are a lot of attribute to a good track beside the shape. Camber, Topping and Preparation are just three areas, that are just as important.

From my prospective, there are far more crashes caused through rider error than any those caused by the shape of the track.....................

Great post!!! the good riders ride the track well. the established premier riders ride the track well ,Cook , Morris , Lawson etc etc. Its our 1st year in the Elite league for gods sake. New riders new track. Next year experienced riders will deliver.

  6. Yes thats what they were doing at Peterboro' at the PL 4's which resulted in a shuttle service to the local A&E and Newcastle suppoeters having to miss the end of the meeting.

My point before you ask being the riders being the biggest hazard not the track. As I beliwve Peterboro' is classed as 1 of the best tracks in the country and falls happen there too

Good post. I was there and it took 4hrs to finish the meeting.

  7. What do the Lilons fans think will happen to the team for 2015. I hope for one that Jason Doyle, Simon Stead, Nicholi Klint, Mads Kornilison and Krystof Bulkowski stay. From Norrie Allens statement last night, it looks like both reserves are now on borrowed time,

Would truly like to see Josh Bates keep his place, he had a bad night against Eastbourne, maybe just nerves with the camera's there. Max Clegg came to the EL one or two years before his time give him another year or so and you will see a big difference in him, that is if he can get his confidence to grow a little, he just has so little faith in himself.

If Klint can continue his improvement back to the rider he can be, then I believe that we have a top 5 to match anyone in the league. However it will be all about averages as to who returns. If we believe in the FTS then we should keep faith with Josh and Max, they can only get better. Norrie must stop blaming two 17/18 year olds each time we lose or have a close match. Its bad leadership. These two kids have huge potential and I for one would be very disappointed if we don't support them!!!

  8. That is what is good about the different speedway tracks that are all around the country. It is up to the riders to learn and learn quickly to adapt to the different track shapes and conditions.

I think a lot of the problem with riders that come to Leicester and with some of the Lions riders also. Is that they all lack confidence to commit themselves to ride the track. You only have to take a look at Iverson and Doyle to see they way that they both comit the way that they ride there.

Young Josh Bates was a different rider to the one we saw last Saturday night, when he could not put a foot wrong. Not sure if it was nerves in front of the cameras or if he was just having a bad night, but he road like an idiot last night, he has been riding long enough now to learn when it is time to ease off a bit and get a 2nd place instead of throughing the bike around and then falling off and losing 2 valuable points.

Max Clegg just can't seem to be able to put it together in this league, I think that it was maybe a year or two, to soon for him. His starts let him done as his front wheel nearly always ends up 4 feet in the air and the other riders are at the first bend before he comes back down on the track.

Thank god, a knowledgable and constructive comment about Leicester. Thank you!

I hope he can come good, because I know that he can ride a sight better than we are seeing him at the moment, maybe it is just nerves or a lack of confidence in the EL, don't know what the answer is. Would hate to see him lose his chance of what the FTR are giving these lads.

If all he has left is his hardcore fan base then they will still be the envy of many a promotion.

There are 2 sides to it isn't there tho. Mads said it was a `cool track to ride` so clearly some riders do like it.

Plenty of fans have said they have enjoyed watching a match at Leicester but those are usually mocked on here for daring to have view that isn't a negative one.

I have no idea why the track was designed the way it was, and i think its unlikely it will be altered anytime soon.

Maybe that hardcore base are happy with whats on offer - like i have said some don't like the shape. Some do.

Excellent, Commom sense prevails. I hope others post so we can put the anti Leicester negativity brigade to bed!!!!

I enjoyed the meeting from leicester yesterday, definitely not a dangerous track at all. Some riders were more skilled than others that's all. Good crowd as well, full marks to leicester. Bates was the victim of a left turner when hit off, his childish reaction was quite funny but he is very young so cut him some slack.

    Excellent post.

Its only the perpetual moaners that want change.

You have a `reasonable` track - what you want is a pass a minute thrill track. Not ALL tracks can be like that.

Plus the plenty who attend looked happy last night with the meeting and the result.

Agreed, Which teams / tracks in the Elite league have continual overtaking??? Tracks might be conjusive to overtaking but I seldom see it on TV. Even At the GP the guy who led at the 2nd bend won the race!!

  9. FIM regs, if I recall, are partly the reason Belle Vue is not a very good track. To get it to the minimum size the track was much longer than it really should have been in relation to the bends. As Hyde Road was FIM accredited PC was keen to ensure Kirky Lane was also to the detriment of having a real good race track.

As you say a ridiculous OP, the guy is either drunk or he has got sh!t for brains, I suspect the latter

WOW.....constructive. You really do have issues!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I haven't won any Michelin stars either but I can still tell when a meal tastes like sh!t

Yip.....its all a question of taste but while Brum have closed and probably Eastbourne after this season Leicester will continue!!!!.Suggest you don't watch anymore if it upsets you that much. Then you can concentrate on your own issues!

  11. And your point?

FIM accredited or not Leicester is a truly dreadful race track. It has straights far too long for the tightness of the bends.

So far world under 21 meeting / premier fours / numerous training days / Phil Crump , KK and others rode loads of practice laps as the track developed. Crumpy gave centre green interview 2 weeks ago....... VERY IMPRESSED. Sorry how many world titles have you won????????

  12. Rye House were one of the early visitors when the the track opened. I'm no expert, but I took one look at that track and said the bends were too tight for the long straights. Nothing I've seen since has changed my mind.

As for last nights meeting it was pretty clear that the Sky presenting team were of the same opinion, but skirted around it. You can tell most of the riders don't like it.

No complaints about the stadium and the staff are very friendly, but Leicester could've been an ideal track to host major BSPA and FIM events, but that track and the awful parking facilities have put paid to that.

    Such a shame

So far world under 21s / premier fours / track FIM accredited ............not bad in 3 years

  13. I expect Blackbird will do well. Not sure about Halsey but saw him at Kings Lynn the other week and the draft has certainly given him a boost.

Look forward to seeing Buzz again he is quite a character.

I expect Lions by a wide margin......of course everyone will blame the track and not praise Doyley , Mads , Steady , Buzz Klindt, Bates or Cleggy. Also predict the Lions will take at least a point at KL on Weds

  14. OMG never read so much negativity about one club as I have about Leicester lions. I can only assume you all have a personal grudge or you live in a dream world were every race have overtaking. If you don't like the track, racing,DH or the colour of the grass......DONT WATCH!!!!. Calling all Leicester fans to pack the place out tonight and show these so called speedway fans what its like to support a very friendly and extremely professionally ran club!!! Ohhhh and congrates to Steady in the GB team. See guys that's what happens when you ride for a boring team on a boring track. Doyley for the Aussie team next. Come on you Lions!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. I think you need a holiday as you are clearly losing the plot.

Do the paying public expect to be entertained or just go hoping for the match win ?

What do the supporters at Man city , Chelsea , Liverpool, Crewe or any sports team want????..... 1st and foremost a team win. Regardless of how it happens. If Leicester continue to win then I would expect the attendance to increase. We probably have the biggest attendances in the sport anyway!!

  16. so THATS why the crowds are staying away

Hey don't laugh, Its all part of the package. something that speedway promoters don't take seriously. I am at the track 40mins or so before racing. Nothing happens until the so called parade. Even then Chris Popple cant announce the team until they are back at the pits............. Its not rocket science to entertain before , during and after the meeting!!!

  17. Was at Lions v BV sat. Great lions performance was only matched by the time and honesty shown by the gentleman of the sport during his post match interview. Again on Eurosport on Sunday he showed how well respected he is by the top riders. Surley we need people like him on the governing bodies of British speedway. Knowledgeable, respected articulate and I believe he would be a great ambassador. Not so his team manager!!!. To publicly threaten your team is unacceptable. It shows a clear lack of leadership. The snake wriggles from the head!!!

  18. How can you say there wasn't one genuine pass ?

Without even thinking you have got

    Mads on Nicholls

    Clegg on Greenwood

    Buzz on Harris

You have always struck me as someone whole speaks sense most the time but when it comes to the track you exaggerate excessively.

I agree. Not seen any races on Sky were everyone is overtaking each other. Leicester will be an extremely successful club. Good leadership , great support and finally a good team coming together. On sky this Monday is Eastbourne and with all respect this Lions team will rack up 55 points plus. I only hope the racing is close. From waste ground to SKY in 3 years. What an achievement. Lets give Leicester the credit its due!!!

  19. Should be an interesting meeting. I shall be there and it would be nice to see Perry back at the Lions den even as a Lions fan there would be nothing better than to see him put one over on the other reserves and show that the management where wrong getting rid of him.

Who things are with world speedway the meeting over here in the EL are going to be nothing but a complete farse. This is the second or third time now that teams have been missing riders that are riding in other compatitions It is just plain stupid that an EL league team can even run a meeting with 3 or more riders missing and then have to find guest riders to take thier place that the teams fan do not want to see. Most of the time they are even having to fill the side up with riders from the PL league that have had no racing what so ever in the EL league. This whole fiasco needs sorting out. Fans want to see there team race not a side made up from any second class rider because the management can't find anyone else who can ride on that night.

Speedway needs consistancy to keep the fans happy. Lets put a stop to all this rammle that they keep throwing at us and let us watch the team that they signed up at the start of the season. Unless they have been replaced or injured, Then at least they have a genuine reason for not using the riders we go to see.

One elite league race night for all clubs home and away....... Monday and Wednesday with perhaps Friday as a day for rearranged fixtures. That way each team should be represented the vast majority of times
