  1. Something seems very wrong there, especially given the experience of promoter CVS and TM Peter Adams.

Worrying thing for me is that we have riders who are underperforming, yet are not even under pressure. Peter Adams says theres no point making changes for the sake of it and while there is some truth in that, they need to be seen to be doing something, rather than just putting up with this rubbish.

  2. Lindgren ?

    Pedersen ?

    Wells ?

    Musielak ?

    Thorssell ?

    Klindt ?

    Proctor ?

There are some good assets at the club but no one is likely to be buying them when they are not interested in riding here or as Poole showed can be loaned even if there owners want to sell.

Next year is a different matter and until the rules are set and the format worked out we can say who would be worth keeping and who wouldn't but on a 6 plus average Lindgren has to be back as he is much better than that and will prove it if the format is better

The post you are referring to doesn't say the team has done well but simply points out that once again riders are signed hoping they can improve or hold their own in a position they are not strong enough for.

David Howe for example was a credit to the club but got ridiculed by the fans because he wasn't being the heat leader he was signed as even when he went well.

At the time too much pressure was on him to score double figures when in reality he should have been the third heat leader and not the second.

He struggled in the big heats 13 and 15 but still averaged over 7 as he often got 8 from his first three rides but suddenly came up against top class riders.

It's a matter of balance and getting the right people for the right position just as Lewis Hamilton isnt going to be Fi Champion in a Vauxhall Corsa.

I did say MAJOR cash. I'm not sure the likes of Wells, Thorssell or even Lindgren would make a particularly large profit if the club decided to cash in. Pedersen maybe, but can't see any club buying him in the current climate.

  3. The other problem is that when you look at the retained list, it's riddled with riders who are either coming towards the end of their careers, or have found their level.

That isn't helped by basic team building errors which often see riders riding in a position higher than they should be. Peter Karlsson for example is still capable of holding a second string place, but should not be riding at number one.

If we're being realistic, the only two assets who would generate major cash should they be sold and that's Woffinden and Pawlicki.

  4.

    Not at all.

It has absolutely nothing to do with picking the team mainly from the asset base or not.

It has EVERYTHING to do with picking the correct riders on the correct averages.

Just bringing in 3 or 4 new faces will do nothing if the same mistakes are made in team building.

Quite a few of our assets are a tad past their sell by date. There's a staleness about the place at all levels. Added to a promotion who are set in their ways in terms promoting, team building and race tactics, it's difficult to see much light at the end of the tunnel.

  5. It's a good point but I've never understood the logic. If I'm a Wolves fan, I go to Wolves. If I'm a Brummie fan, I go to Brum. If I'm a Spoon, I go to get my head examined.

That brought a smile on a rainy day 😁

In all seriousness though, it's the logic Adams and Van Stratton would see. However, like most of their logics, it's about 20 years out of date.

  6. When BV's National Stadium opens next year will they move from Monday? If they do, who will be left sticking out like a sore thumb? No issue with BAGS meetings on wednesdays. They've just signed a new 3 year deal with Ladbrokes, has there been any forward thinking? Maybe this is the opportunity to drag Dumb & Dumber into the 21st century?

With regard to clashing with the Danish league, doesn't seem to have been a problem for Poole.

Wolves probably wouldn't run on Wednesday as it clashes with Birmingham and Cradley.

  7. The only way merging the EL and PL would ever work is if it was done on the Premier League's terms, which would be a further weakening of the product.

Plus there are way more one sided meetings in the PL. Those who brag PL Is better are sadly blinkered. Season after season there are clubs struggling to make ends meet. Workington, Glasgow and Edinburgh in recent seasons and now Scunthorpe are close to closing.
The hand picked SKY matches generally offer good racing however that is not the general standard, which is no different to the EL.
We already have the weakest and most watered down EL/top flight probably in history and it needs no further dumbing down. Amalgamation has already been tried and failed. There is no difference for next season either.

Far too many like to peddle the myth that the Premier League is a well oiled machine and that all of speedway's problems are in the Elite League.

Reality is that all three leagues have fundamental flaws which need to be sorted.

  8. And another fantastic race in Heat 20 with a track that is allowing them to race.

    Not ruts causing mistakes.

How ANYONE can criticise this track (aside from the gates) is beyond me.

Best Cardiff track ever, bar none.

If only the gates were more even.

I think the 2010 track was better in that there was more overtaking for the lead. The dominance of gate 1 has taken the shine off it, but I think it's been decent overall.

  9.

    Surely they never were?

The team had bottom written all over it before a wheel was turned, but Karlsson carrying them for a few weeks has duped them into believing it was a decent team.

They were pretty bullish in March (although they had to be I guess), but I was certainly never fooled by the bright start. Peter Adams made a quote along the lines of "even when we have a poor season, I always console myself that we're a season closer to getting it right".

  10. Nothing has changed with regards to the track preperation. The track on Monday was prepared superbly and should have lent itself to some very good racing. Sadly we are not seeing it.

I don't think it's any coincidence that the standard of racing at Monmore has never been the same since the introduction of these silencers. Prior to 2011, it was must see entertainment. We finished bottom in 2008, yet in terms of entertainment, the racing was excellent.

With the drop in attendances has cone the drop in atmosphere. I've been inside Monmore Green when the atmosphere for matches with Coventry was raucous. It is now so tame from a Wolves perspective.
