  1. Think the only two riders you can be confident of seeing in Wolves colours next year at this moment in time is Jacob Thorssell and Oliver Bernzton with hopefully Piotr Pawlicki. If the league doesn't switch to one night and Freddie misses out of the GP's in 2015 then I wouldn't be suprised to see him back next season

Thorssell is fairly obvious, but not Pawlicki. Cant put up with his half soaked attitude again.

  2. The World Chumpion falls short again.

Another defeat snatched from the jaws of victory all the more frustrating for being turned over by Klindt.

This is a very poor Wolves team who don't have any fight when the chips are down.

I hope Woffinden decides to give Britain a miss next year as I am really fed up - trying to keep the post clean - of seeing him just go through the motions for Wolves - it is clear he has no interest in the EL.

I really like Pawlicki and think he has done really well for us but the fact is he misses too many meetings - by the end of the season we will have ridden four away meetings on Saturdays and he will have missed them all.

The manner of the last two defeats against Poole and Leicester has been very poor - roll on the end of the season.

    Wolfie

Agree about Pawlicki. Poole are welcome to him to next year. I'm sick of the bloke missing meeting after meeting

  3. I'd be all in favour of a cup competition being added as long as it didn't start until mid -season. Then teams who have little chance in the league have something to go for. It would reduce the number of meaningless matches. Even the British League Cup of 2003. A good idea and I enjoyed those meetings, but too many clubs didn't take it seriously and, it was given the boot.

  4. When has stating the obvious truth bLund turning on a rider.

I did say that i thought PK had been a great servant to the club, but you must be able to see he is nowhere near the rider he was, his performances for Lakeside all season Monday night and last night in Sweden points to the obvious.

You must also remember most of these bad performances are on tracks he has ridden for years.

I did say when he returned that, PK will give it his all, but that I'd rather remember his as the rider who dominated any other rider at Monmore in his prime - not the pale shadow we saw on Monday.

PK is one of my Wolves heroes, and his debut was in the same year I started watching Wolves. I found it very difficult watching him against Poole.

  5. Good point re under 21/ under 19, but under 15/16 should be on small tracks.

I was in Grudziadz yesterday and they have an 80cc track on the centre green. I first saw Max Fricke 4/5 years ago on a similar track at Mildura. All the Swedes and Danes start that way too, so too do the Yanks. On the lesser powered machines, smaller tracks are better at introducing youngsters to cornering skills and getting them use to close racing.

Agreed. My point however is that riders get too cosy on the small tracks and don't want to move onto something bigger even though it will aid their development. It has to be a two way system here though. The promoters and advisors need to make it clear to the rider he needs to race on big tracks, and there also has to be a desire by the rider himself to do it.

  6. There has to be a balance between big and small tracks. Not enough of the major events are staged on bigger circuits. Plus the under 15 championship rounds are being held on pokey little places like Eastbourne and Rye House. While these clubs have a good track record of developing riders, it can hinder their development if they get to dialled into small tracks

I think Hans Nielsen expressed concern when he was at Wolves that it was hindering his ability to race on bigger tracks where - let's face it - most of the big international events are held anyway.

  7. I posted this on another thread, but will put it her as well, as its relevant

I'll quote a couple of lines from the late Simon Wigg's book:

"We need stepping stones for British youngsters. Unfortunately, promoters tend to think its important how many races they have on a night, or how the regulations are structured, or whether the team aggregate points limit is set correctly. These are all negative aspects of speedway".

    And:

"If every member of the BSPA were making a million quid a week running speedway, I would listen to them. But they're not. Most of them are busting their a**** to survive - and then tell each other how to run their show. I find that incredible".

  8. We can talk about 5 year plans until we're blue in the face. British Speedway is run in such a way that it can barely see whats happening at the end of its own nose, let alone 5-10 years down the line. Until an idependent and full time body is governing all aspects of the sport, then it will continue to resemble a boat in the middle of a lake; with some rowing one way; others rowing another; and the bosses at the tiller scratching their heads, wondering why the boats going round in circles.

  9. So why havent the up and coming GB riders got European bookings?

    Bad advice?

    Lazyness?

Easy money riding EL & PL?

    General lethargy, lack of ambition?

    Scared of not winning races?

    Cost?

Surely if they want to progress to the top they MUST put themselves about! Learn get international experience on different tracks in different countries.

Or if they want to stay as a BIG FISH in a little pond stay racing in the EL/PL!

IF YOU WANT TO BE AN INTERNATIONAL STAR YOU MUST PRACTICE AND BUILD SKILL INTERNATIONALLY

    M

Absolutely. Craig Cook riding abroad only once in his career is staggering. These riders need to be advised much better by people who've been there and done it already. We are the only country who do nothing to help its own riders. In fact, we do more to HINDER them. Massive changes need making and have done for at least ten years, but while people treat it as "just a social event", then we'll continue banging our heads against a brick wall.

As I posted earlier, there are people out there who have vision and the nouse to improve the product, but the old guard continue to close ranks and hound them out through small-mindedness.

We have had sky coverage since 1999, yet STILL none of the leagues are sponsored. I started watching speedway in 1990 and there was a rickety trackshop with a couple of tables. Its now 2014, and its still a rickety trackshop with a couple of tables.

Sadly, speedway seems to not want help.

  10. Stead and King should never have been in the team, they`re elite riders on their way down into the premier league..How can the experience gained by King and Stead be of any value ? A chance to blood some up and coming GB riders has been lost.

Agree entirely. The probem we have is that rules like doubling up have allowed too many of our riders to get in comfort zone. How exactly are people like Danny King going to learn and improve by bullying riders in the Premier League?

The BSPA is facing a simple choice, adapt or die. Sadly, when you have people like Len Silver saying that he's "quite content with British Speedway at the moment", then what chance do you have?

  11. Tonight proved more than ever that we need to get our riders appearing abroad a lot more than they are now. Stead and King looked very naive at times but I feel for them, not their fault they are among the best four available and its not Rosco's fault either. Hopefully the five year plan involves our youngsters riding on the continent and that Rosco gets more support from the BSPA than Rob did.

Exactly. We've let our riders stay in the comfort zone for too long now. How is bullying riders in the PL going to improve the likes of King, Stead, Barker and Garrity?

Sadly, when you have people like Len Silver saying hes "quite content" with the state of British Speedway, then what chance do you have though?

Exactly. We've allowed our riders to get in the comfort zone. What exactly is Danny King going to learn by bullying riders in the PL? It almost seems as if the BSPA actively discourage our riders from going overseas.

And when you have the likes of Len Silver saying he's "content" with the state of British Speedway, then you don't hold out hope of things changing soon.

As for the meeting fantastic last heat from Puk, top class. Feel a little for Poland but thems the rules. Australia disappointing apart from the excellent Doyle. Danes really ought to have picked MJJ but really pleased for Mads.

  12. Are you for real a dreadful showing,no change no vision same old same old.I want to see what this new five year master plan is?i hope it is good.!

I believe there are people involved in British Speedway who have good ideas and have a desire to do whats right for the sport.

The problem is convincing the promoters who remain so set in their ways and prefer the sport to be amateurish and low-key

  13. A chance to get lapped ? :o Be realistic please..

But at least they will be picking up some experience. Its what the Americans are doing. We will not win this competition any time soon, so it would be as well to pick the likes of Lambert and garrity. Stead and King have had enough chances and wont improve, but the younger ones might
