You have Danny King and Craig Cook riding as a heatleader for both and Kyle Newman and Josh Bates as a second string for both. If Jason Doyle gets injured, Swindon would match a CL side in my opinion. And we saw how many injuries and guest bookings there were last year. I think Poole and someone else perhaps Leicester both had 4 riders missing in one meeting last season although I might be wrong. It will be carnage this year because is there the riders to go around. R/R is going to be carrying the ball and chain more than ever this year I believe.

I think this quote has really hit home hard on now how close the two leagues are becoming. It's quite scary.

Think I remember King going to Somerset last year and scored 3 in a meeting. Regardless he should beat them around Brandon.

King's Lynn Stars 2017
Joe Beevers replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
And there is also an old saying that goes by 'the proof is in the pudding' and if Poole finish ahead of Kings Lynn, we know they were right and you were wrong. Results mean everything and by the sound of reading articles on here and the Star it's hardly like they have fallen out. -
Is Speedway Classed As An Entertainment Or A Sport?
Joe Beevers replied to steve roberts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
An entertaining sport! What I find interesting is speedway used to appeal a lot to the old bikers and casual motorsport enthusaists. Nowadays with the inclusion on Monster and the shows at GPs etc, they try and make it more like a sort of motorcross, bmxing extreme type of sport and try to emphasise the no brakes, high speed danger side of the sport which seems to appeal more to modern society than back in the popular days where it sold itself in its own individual way. Amazing how times change. -
I wouldn't think many would be that old yet. Began in 1994 didn't it. Hans Nielsen and Sam Ermolenko were probably the oldest riders. Be more interesting to do it by the oldest World Championship rider by the decade i.e 50s, 60s and so on.

Any more news on the Devils? I think even a development team would be good at this stage. Such a big place with a poor football following and small rugby following should allow for some speedway fans to show.

Championship Teams Comparison Time
Joe Beevers replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It's a tough looking league and a lot of strong teams. I like the way Peterborough are setting up. Ipswich and Sheffield look very solid and Redcar and Workington look the dark horses. -
Promotion/relegation.
Joe Beevers replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sorry for bringing this topic back but I have a question and probably some important information I have missed. Lets take the scenario of the Swindon 2016 team vs the Somerset 2016 team or to make it less confusing, two double uppers from A Premiership team and the same team two from the Championship team. If the Premiership team come last and the Championship team are first, than who gets the priority of the two riders doubling up and down for the playoff match. If it goes on assets, what happens if both riders are non assets for both clubs? -
Or just drop Fricke and Nielsen and replace them with 2 8 point riders such as Gomolski, Batchelor, Schlein, Ostergaard. Another option is Kim Nilsson for Fricke and sign someone with over a 6?
-
I do agree that people are writing this team off unfairly and it isn't that bad. However your post is very optimistic and if your talking about Allen beating a rider who scored a 21 point maximum in the EL last year, I think you have stepped over the reality line into the fantasy zone.

Who Are Going To Be The 10 Biggest Improvers Of There Average In All Leagues.?
Joe Beevers replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I agree that this should be under General Discussions however if I had to pick a side of PL improvers 1) F Lindgren 2) N Klindt 3) K Newman 4) K Huckenbeck 5) K Bjerre 6) J Bates 7) J P Blackburn In my opinion they could all put 2 points on their current average. -
I wonder if this is the oldest top league side assembled this century? Very experienced and good looking side.

Just caught up and just wanted to say thank you to stevebrum and mb1990 for the information report as it was very interesting. I wish all clubs like the Wolves promotion did these meetings and were this honest and very open about club and general news. I found the Chris Harris situation suprised me and I must say, there is probably more to it than meets the eye with the comments made. So Sam Masters riding for Wolves does make the team look top heavy but class is permanent and reserves will improve and in terms of structure I prefer a hard hitting top 4-5 than a solid 7 at the start of the season.

2016 Riders Still To Be Announced In 2017 Team
Joe Beevers replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Interesting list. I am focused however more on the British riders getting rides however as it would be disappointing if they didn't. So we have: Craig Cook - Surely Belle Vue if they ride Lewis Bridger- No links. CL only perhaps Steve Worrall - Possibly Belle Vue Richie Worrall - Can the Aces fit him in? Ben Barker - Probably CL only. Josh Auty - Maybe Leicester again or CL? Paul Starke - Probably Somerset? Kyle Newman - Poole Charles Wright - Signed CL but PL unknown Every other Brit below this list, I would like to think will fit into the Championship and will be suprised if they are not. -
Maybe but it definently has a roads crisis.

King's Lynn Stars 2017
Joe Beevers replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great signing in Huckenbeck. If he is at reserve, I think he will be the best in the league. Just get the feeling that Kings Lynn are waiting on other clubs to see what pans out and there are still a lot of riders from last year without a contract. I think Batchelor will sign but anyones guess after that. -
So a rumour mentioning Chris Holder joining Somerset. If so, could it look top heavy if Masters signs. 1) Holder 2) Allen 3) Wright 4) Starke 5) Masters 6) Wilson Dean 7) Any room. Of course this leaves out Tungate.

This is meant to be a professional sport with health and safety and facilities provided in a costly stadium. This isn't a Wurzels gig!

After 4h&a Could Poole Replace Klindt With Vaculik?
Joe Beevers replied to DC2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What an odd topic? Poole really does have a hex on this forum. My answer would be cross that bridge when we come to it. Standard BSPA thinking isn't it? -
If I had signed him before the next season regardless and the limit was 35.00, he would still be in. Bit like Hans Andersen was promised for Poole I believe. If I hadn't signed him before the rules were changed and I was a promoter, it would make sense mathematical wise not to sign him. That being said, it doesn't matter who starts in the side but how strong the side is at the end of the season.

You didn't really answer my question. I agree seating isn't that necessary as grass banks seem to be favourable especially across the continent. However it is like sitting on the bus and not giving the disabled person a chair, getting an elderly person to sit on a concrete base. Anyone else got a heart on here or just me. I won't complain as used to this from the youth of today etc etc.
-
Oh my days, did you really just write this?
-
A post like that clearly tells me your under forty rather than over forty. As if people can't get value for money for the quality speedway as it is, I can imagine an 85 year old squatting on the concrete shouting at some 6ft 8in 30 year old to stop standing in front of him to try to see the speedway.

Very true Daytripper. Increased rent in regards to land and even rising bills like electricity and water certainly has been another kick in the teeth for speedway sides trying to run a team every year. Rent for anything is ridiculous nowadays whether its a bungalow in Bradford on Avon or a doughnut stand in Doncaster. Fatcats always needing more than their share as that's how society works.
