Since when was Richie Worrall a sex symbol? HaHaHaHa Someone is taking the piss on the BSPA site right?
  2. If only someone had thought to do that http://speedway-stats.co.uk/
  3. So now what? You have two riders injured, you use R/R for one, what do you do for the other? Because the other 7 teams will all be racing themselves on most Mondays and Wednesdays now.

Spot on. The Ipswich announcements tonight on twitter and facebook with the videos were how it should be done.I also really like Ipswichs website. Ipswich like Glasgow are doing the internet well.
  5. This arguement again. And what happens when you want to sign a rider who last year averaged 4.51 and only have 4 points to play with? Under your rules he's now a 5 so doesn't fit. You also have the issue that a rich teams would sign 7 riders who averages x.49 and the poor teams would be left with 7 riders who averages x.51 meaning the rich team will have a team 4.5 point higher. The more decimal places you do averages to, the easier it is to sign replacements in reality, not the other way around. To take your idea to the extreme, lets round all riders to the nearest 6 points, making everyone 0,6 or 12, all riders would fit into one of 3 categories, much easier to sign replacement right?

    Coventry Bees Nl ?

How do you propose they do that? Travel all over the Midlands asking people?
  7. Same here. I used to love trying to build teams within a limit, work out what changes could be made and also working out riders averages. If people cant do maths thats fine, but stop trying. Thy need to learn that the point limit is NOT connected to the points available in a meeting. Maybe the solution is to not multiple averages by 4 and have a points limit of about 10. People wont get so confused then.

Pull the other one. How much time, effort and money does it take to use social media properly? Glasgow do a great job of it. Its free if you really want it to be all he way up to pay a dedicated person 30k a year. How many clubs interact on twitter? How many clubs set up events for people to be invited to on Facebook? How many have an app that pops up notifications on people phones about news, signings and results? All so easy and can be done very cheap.

I could be wrong but didnt Tony ask for a transfer and Kings Lynn were made to buy him but stopped making the payments after a year because Tony quit riding in the UK before signing for Poole a couple of years later on loan from Ipswich.
  10. Maths is the very core of logic. If you can't do maths then you can't do logic. And these days it seems to be a badge of honour when people can't do maths which is worrying then because it suggests they can't do logic.

    Two Year Contracts

He did. But even Matt agrees that it was all bullrubbish, read his quote http://www.skysports.com/speedway/news/12268/10660265/hans-andersen-back-with-poole-pirates-for-2017-season No, he signed a 2 year deal when they moved to the NSS.

Mark Loram wasn't sacked. He didnt sign a new contract, very different. Riders switch teams when contracts end all the time.

No. 100% not. I don't believe any rider have ever spent a prolonged period getting his average down. I can well believe that that the odd rider has fiddled the odd meeting (I've seen Chris Harris do it when it was rumoured their would be one 8+ rider only in 2008 so he averaged 7.99 ) and the odd meeting has been thrown by a club once they have nothing to gain (Poole at Oxford circa-2005) but James Sarjeant had nothing to gain. Why would he spend a season dropping points (and losing money) so he could fit into another team the following season? It's totally illogical. James is a confidence rider. Anyone who has watched him will know he goes through good spells and bad spells. When referees start calling back his good and fair starts (and I accept some were a bit suspect) it probably got to him. If he makes a good start it's pulled back and if he doesn't he's at the back and he doesn't exactly have the greatest of ability when coming from the back. After a while that is going to ruin his confidence. Two good signings IMO. Harris will always make up in effort and entertainment what he may lack in points some days. 10 years watching him ride for Coventry home and away and I can only ever remember one time I left a meeting angry with him (poor meeting at Lakeside in the KOC but he wasnt never that good there) but I also think theres some significant improvement in his average if he can settle at Glasgow and ride it will. His home/away split is very neutral at the moment - but then it often has been throughout his career, the positive there is that he scores well away (just not really at Lakeside!) As for Sarj, he had a terrible year in 2017. When you consider in '15 he got 5+ at reserve and then in '16 he got 5+ as a second string (at a different track) then realistically his level is that of a 5+ rider, so starting in reserve on 3.2(?) he can add 2-3 points to that depending on if he stays in reserve of moves into the 1-5 and thats without any improvement. Throw in that he's not going to have 30% of his races called back and he could find another 1-2 point a meeting from that too! HE could IMO hit a 7 point average in 2018. Good luck to him, I have a soft spot for James, I don't know why because as a rider he is quite flawed but I really like him, probably because I feel hes been hard done by with regards to referees.

Potentially it's not at all possible. But they all manage to get bikes here for Cardiff. Woffinden lives in the UK for a start so I'd be shocked if he doesn't have any kit here. It might not work but it preferable to either not being able to get a decent replacement or frankly having to use next week opposition rider. You never know, the thought of a 8-12 meetings as and when it is mutually beneficial may be enough for the top guys to leave a bike or two in the UK?

    Swindon 2018

Nope, announced hed be at the club in 2017 and 2018 http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/14718727.Swindon_skipper_Doyle_signs_new_two_year_deal/?ref=arc When was the last time a World Champion was sacked?

Well that 2 year contract was worthless then. In fact they always are. As soon as any rider signs a two year contract it's like an indication they'll be off next winter. If anyone else had done this Id be suggesting it was madness but Rosco has made a lot of brave calls in his time and they have generally worked, maybe he has a plan?

  18. Why round to 0 decimal places? Why not round to the nearest 1? Or the nearest 10? Or why not the 16 decimal places?

We dont. The Championship riders already double up in the Premiership. And it wont be long before Jason Doyle is injured and has to be replaced by Jonas B Andersen and Swindon fans decide, idiot this, Im not going yet replace him with Hancock, Woffinden, Dudek.... and theyll attend.

The solution, IMO, is a guest pool. Riders like Hancock, Woffinden, Lindback ate who don't ride over here could be used as a guest by any team. Riders in the guest pool would get averages after 6 meetings like other riders. Solves the issue of no guests being available and also solves the issue of using another teams rider as a guest. In effect they would be short term (1 week) signings.
  21. If there were 4 heats, 15 heats, 30 heats or 600 heats then the points limit would still be about 42ish. What the BSPA should do is go back to 13 heats, then have a 42 point limit and people will think we have a high limit as you only need 39 to draw! Its a winner I tell you!
  22. My thread, my rules TBF whatever rule is applied I think Newcastle are coming out of this one well!
  23. Some serious tenuous claims here. Mario Jirout rode PL AFTER GP. And I'm not including wildcards and reserves Newcastle can have Anderson, Nicki, Bjarne and Bjerre. Watt at a push I guess as he's ridden 7. Kus and Franc, no way Not sure the relevance of Carl Stonehewer. Other than Workington can claim him and Kildemand but they're one of the handful I could think of with 2
  24. IT SHOULDN'T BE 45! Sorry but as soon as someone say it should be 45 your opinion is totally invalid as you clearly don't understand averages. Averages are points divided by rides, multiplied by 4. There are 90 points in a meeting, thats 60 rides. Thats 90/60x4=6.00. There are 7 riders, so 6.00x7 is 42. But what if I told you it's actually less than 42 too. The reason? Well the 4 riders picked for heat 15 have averaged more than 6 each before heat 15 so heat 15 actually lowers their averages. In reality it's about 40.9 over a season. So 40.9 in theory means you maintain last years strength.
  25. Don't forget this is the same bunch that about 3 years ago claimed to have, "listened to the fans views" in regards to the TR and increased how far behind you had to be an how many you could use. Despite the fact the Speedway Stars poll said circa-85% wanted the rule scrapped (not tweaked). So an outright lie.
