  1. You mean we had seats? I was only jumping up and down because I thought I had to stand up I've not sat, 4th bend, 2nd tier at the front. Backstaight, top tier at the front. 1st bend, bottom tier at the front. 3rd/4th bend, top tier at the back(of all the others). This year was probably the best, the 2nd tier was 2nd best and last year on the bottom tier was dreadful, it was quiet and cold. I thought that as we were undercover (from the 2nd tier) that the noise was not getting down there so well.
  2. garf is clearly refering to Les Collins. I think there will be a few young Danes in the GP series in 3 year time as well as the ones that are there now.

    GP Heat results

The GP currently use a weird and wonderful, impossible to work out yourself, knock out format. It's all part of the organisers dragging speedway into the 21st centry plan. Basically, 2 3rd/4th's in a row and you're on your way home. Try www.speedway-faq.org (i think thats right) I would imagine the format is explained on there.
  4. My sisters friends dad did the fireworks, so i've just been told. So have we got any comments? Critisisms? Advice? Post on here, I'll print it off and my sister can give it to her friend for her dad. Personally I though they were great but then I though everything was great at that moment in time.
  5. He seems to be having a tough time since his crash at Ipswich and despite all the "he's back to his best" and "he's riding well" his scores did not seem to suggest he was before the injury. I still thinkn Gary is ahead of his at Poole but I gues Joe is a maybe for Eastbourne.
  6. Someone said you were there, I can't remember myself.
  7. The last few years the BBC have mentioned the speedwya on the Friday and Monday. This year the speedway did not get a mention, the sport is going backwards not forwards with the media.
  8. Norris Loram Nicholls Richardson They all speak for themselves, you cannot argue with there selection if you tried (watch someone try now, probably LT ). At Eastbourne, while he's not been great this year, I'd have Kelvin Tatum. He'll either score loads or nothing but with the above 4 riding it won't matter if he scores 0 anyway as they're probably 3 of the best arlington riders in the world, who is in Team GB's leg? If not Tatum then got for Barker. At Poole, I'd go with Havvy.
  9. I have just sat and watch BBC Wales news. BMX, it had a crowd of 20,000 people you know. Other stuff that did not attract 35,000+ people but did speedway get a mention? NO! No doubt the prmoters will claim next week "speedway is getting bigger".
  10. Glad you enjoyed your day, Cardiff is something special and it unlikely to be beat at another event anywhere in the world until next year, AT CARDIFF!!! so don't go to a meeting elsewhere expecting such a great atmosphere and so much noise, that doesn't mean it's not grat though. Some of the questions you ask have been asked by speedway fans for years now, the media seem to dislike us for some reason, it does not help that Sky Sports don't allow the BBC any coverage, or so I was told by a BBC Sport Wales employee a few years back. Sadly ALL speedways rights have been sold to Sky, who ever decided to do that should be shot. After a while rider identification is easier, you learn riders styles, lines and what there race suits look like. In Elite league meetings teams have race suits so you can at least tell which team has won, you're also closer to the action so get a better view of helmets/numbers. At Cardiff even the closest people are further away then the furthered people at some UK tracks. At somewhere like Exeter you can stand almost over the fence though I beleive most tracks have a 2 metre zone(or a dog track!) between the fence and the spectators. I was in the top tier, row 18, wich was pretty much the last used row apart form the odd person who went right up into the gods so we had the noise but didn't have some inconsiderate kid behind us with an airhorn. I have sat in the top(twice), middle and bottom tier and I found the bottom tier (where your basiclaly covered by the middle tier) to be so boring as there was very little noise or atmospehere down there. I don't think it helped that we sat next to newbies who were a little unsure and did not know who to cheer. You say you enjoyed the prgramme, the GP programmes are brilliant but go to a league meeting at some tracks and you'll wonder why you paid £1.50 or £2 for shuch a pile of rubbish. Some tracks have brillaint, informative well designed programmes. The last 2 points, thats why we love it Just out of intrest, where is your closest track? Do you know? If not I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction. Don't be put off by the lower league not having the GP guys riding, it's just as much fun and you get to watch soe of the up and comming youngsters who are generally a bit keener than some of the top guys in the higher leagues.
  11. Local paper says in excess of 35,000. If there was less than 40,000 this year then the first year when we were told 40,000 for only about 30,000.
  12. Pedersen Gollob on the 2nd bend? Just as Gollob passed Pedersne where the hell was Pedersen, knowing Gollob was gound around the outside? Thank GOd Gollob predicted what Nicki was going to do and shot upt he inside and stayed as far away form Pedersen as possible.
  13. Sorry if it's considered a waste of bandwidth but can I suggest we show BSI that we want David as a wildcard for a later round this year? Prehaps everyone who agree's can just put an I agree post (don't normally agree with them) and we have no, "BSI won't take any notice anyway" posts.
  14. I'm off for a drive over the bridge, and back again and again
  15. Is Pavel 1st reserve? Well done Pav.
  16. Says the under age drinker!! Jill won't be happy with you, p*** head indeed!!
  17. Which she gave to me Bloody students eh?! I went home with more money than I left the house with, quite worse for wear having have a ruddy great time I didn't get home until 1.30 and I live 14 miles from the stadium!!!
  18. Dave finally cracked it, he is my favourite Brit now. Mark Loram is second. Dave is great on a bike and off it I hope he is in the GP next year and I really do think he CAN win a GP.
  19. Tabby 3, I agree 100% Gollob just got it wrong, sometime I wonder if Nicki does what he does on purpose.
  20. Kevin Coombes (he did Brighton?) is good. I liked Sam but I was not listenging to him for heat result, I work that out myself(or ask the official program filler in, Robbo). As I said, he got us all (to use a speedway term) "pumped up". Prehaps he does not a side kick or even needs to be the side kick and Kevin Coombed might be the guy to do it.
  21. It's the British, sorry, English way. I can't imagine the Ausies cheering when one of there riders fall off, or the Swedes, Poles or Danes. The Enlish have tried to get all patriotic with there 'tat' sticking out of there cars for the European Championship but it's all a show.
  22. A BIG thank you to every one who rallied around and tried to get us tickets or offered us a ticket, I think we had quite a few offers, I lost count so thanks guys, you're a great lot. You'll all be pleased to know we got in and Matt got his pint, but don't tell anyone or they'll all want one!
  23. He did a very good job, I though he was quite a natural at it. He didn't jabber on but he kept people informed and seemed excited without going OTT.
  24. The two Danes mentioned WERE Dirty, some of there moves we silly. I'm no Dane hater, neither is JT, we both thing Puk is great
  25. There's a pint in it, or a glass of coke if you prefer!! (as long as Jill pays )
