It was a real battle in the Gold Cup semi-final and now the Raiders are back. It's a 2pm start as Eastbourne seek to land their first silverware of the year. Can they do it, Yes they can. Come on Eagles - it has been so long since we won a prize.

Rookie Question About Scoring
00000 replied to MagicOctopus's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Does the Premier League still have bonus points. I am sure I read once that they had been stopped. -
Well, Eastbourne have acknowledged the event. It is also in the fixture list, I have just looked. Anyway, who are the other two sides? I have no idea. A pretty poor show from Kent on this occasion. Perhaps there will be a press release tomorrow. The general point is that club's need to be, to use a horrible modern phrase, "In your face" with publicity.
-
Up to Kent to promote their own fixtures. Not for Eastbourne or anyone else to poke their nose in. The host club will know what they want to say to bring in the fans. My social media streams (and the website) is all about the National Trophy Final at Arlington on Sunday afternoon. I see they are plugging the 2pm start to make sure people know. That's how Martin and Connor work it. Fair play to them but I don't think they have the time to do Kent's PR as well.

Eastbourne V Rye House Raiders Gold Cup 2 Pm 20/09/15

Your heart's very much in the right place on this one but I'm not sure a cup final is the time to try out someone new. Perhaps one of the existing pits staff could have these duties to work with the clerk of the course? -
Nor me. Loads of passing when I last went to Kent. No doubt Lakeside will settle in nicely in what are rather more comfortable surroundings and facilities for supporters.

Plans for a fabulous 50-year anniversary meeting would take a long time to pull together. Unless it is a big surprise (and why would it be?), it seems unlikely there will be a meeting. Great opportunity has been missed.
-
I think fans these days regard winning at home as vital; at least losses being few and far between. Thanks telling me about Scunthorpe. I will certainly take a look if work takes me in that direction next year.
-
BWD has said he is staying to lead Eagles in all 3 cup finals. Great news. We need our #1
-
Scunthorpe doing well in this list. If we accept HT's views, you would think on that basis Scunny would be having good attendances but it seems from what I read earlier in the season in the Speedway Star that they are struggling to make it pay. So Scunthorpe are doing a lot right - do they need to get more publicity in the area? BTW, can't argue one way or other with HT's views on Scunthorpe: never been to the current track
-
You seem to overlook that when a club drops from the EL to the NL, they do not take their EL riders with them (even, if they wanted to). They have to start again with no assets. You say you are a Rye House supporter of 25+ years standing so I cannot understand how you could make such a statement
-
MACHINE gun? More like a 75mm howitzer. Hopwood, btw - you Kent people will eventually get the hang of the Eagles - but you are very welcome, of course.

Eastbourne V Rye House Raiders Gold Cup 2 Pm 20/09/15

Branford tried to land the knock-out punch of the meeting but he was the one who let his team down. Played the panto villain after that to help entertain the Eastbourne crowd. Had he run away before heat 15? Where's Top Cat when you want to known something? -

Now reported on Eastbourne website that Bradley Wilson-Dean has probably broken his fingers. Ben Morley will guest. -
Promoters are damned if they call off early and damned if they don't. You can't satisfy all of the people all of the time. More than likely be a dry night if you call off early BUT if you hang on and decide to race, the heavens will open at 7.25pm. We need to do more to weather proof speedway; and I don't just mean track covers. Do we need tyres similar to (and would it work) what F1 calls "full wets" ?

Most clubs would have started home fixtures before July. -
Buxton V Eastbourne Or King's Lynn - 13th September

Eagles so dominant. Ten points win but it could have been more. Dugards have got this team all firing. So "21-point" Spiller wasn't the trump card! It was Ben Hopwood who was dropped by Buxton. -
Ht 10 at King's Lynn would have been run if the meeting had started on time. Instead, we witnessed a parade, the riders going round on the track for a little practicse, regraded, watering!!!! before a race was run. The meeting could have started at 7.30, or dead on 7.45 to allow for a parade. Neither happened. the big black cloud approaching Saddlebow Road came closer and closer while all this nonsense went on. King's Lynn's fault entirely
