Good news coming from Jake Allen after tonight's nasty looking crash, which saw him taken to Weston-Super-Mare Hospital. Just swelling & pain, nothing broken in the spinal department https://twitter.com/JaKeALLeN_47_/status/710972896034873345

The flag was adopted in 2013 by Somerset County Council, but the emblem itself has been present on the Somerset Coat of Arms, since it was ratified by the Court of Heralds in 1911........so yep, 105 years worth

This is from last year's regulations for the NL, so assuming that it doesn't change for next season, it's pretty clear that in most circumstances, the PL will have priority over the NL double ups 19.9.4 Where a Rider is additionally declared in a PL and/or EL Team, the EL and/or PL Team shall have priority, except that a Rider nominated for the NLRC must appear in the NLRC.

    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?

This doesn't just apply to the Scorpions, but if you want a sustainable team in years to come, you need to ensure that you don't spend money un-necessarily, and some of the above would cost too much to instigate for the promotion. For example: Team race suits so we look like a team. - Approximate cost for a full set of team Kevlars, around £6K Food Themed race nights in better weather BBQ night; Curry night; Pizza night? - maybe something to get the track caterers involved in, or enlist the help of someone with time on their hands to organise it Free beer or soft drink ? - Good Luck on that one Themed music 60s night 70s, 80s etc. - Relatively easy to organise, if you have someone willing to take it on. Most announcers have a day job, so it may be something for someone who is retired to take it on Give aways say; flags ? stickers - Cost of the items? Loss of track shop income ! Small hand flags etc aren't that expensive, but having them custom printed may add to the cost of having them produced, larger flags, 5ft x 3ft for instance start at around a fiver, upwards, but again custom printed ones cost considerably more Starting gate based on the one at Sheffield complete with coloured lighting rig - Wouldn't know the full cost of something like that, but can't be cheap, even if you could buy one complete. My guess is you would have to have it fabricated, and with 80mm steel tube around £80 per 6 metre length, the lights, cabling etc, I would imagine this would cost well in excess of £5k to have one made, and that's without any consideration for labour cost. Improved seating on home straight; consider cover ? and additional lighting ? - Individual plastic seat tubs cost around £8 - £10 each, without fixings, plus the cost of the lighting. If you want to build a covered seating area, a 60 seater will cost you around £18k for the building only, with seats adding to that cost When Glanford Park closes can we blag some of the fixs & fittings ? - Would help to keep the cost of the above down, but what kind of condition would they be in, and you would have the cost of transporting it all. Could we stage the Scunthorpe Individual Championship; to find the master of the EWR ? Would be a nice variation from regular team racing as one off. - Individual meeting rarely make money for a promotion, as spectators are more interested in watching their team. It would have to be something extra special to attract a good crowd, and that's before you add the cost of putting one on, and attracting decent riders to get a good crowd in Admission concessions buy 4 get one free. - This is possible, and something that all promotions should be focusing on is getting new people through the gate, if you offer a group discount, for say 10 persons, there may be some regular spectators in that group, but a hell of a lot will be first timers, who have not been before, and were unlikely to come otherwise Discount on the gate admission if you support the team away (negotiated with home team) and vice versa away fans visiting Scunny ? - Adminsitrative nightmare !! So just looking back at those, the two major cost for the race suit, and the seating/covered stand come to around £24k, which would go a long way to paying some of the bills for any speedway promoter. If you could get a major benefactor to pay for those, all well & good, but getting those kind of sponsors is difficult at the best of times. I'm not saying you should spend money, but spend it wisely, and on items & promotions, such has hospitality deals etc, which will get new people through the gates, especially those who wouldn't have been coming in the first place. Not having a go, just an observation

    Somerset 2016

If this was any other year, I'd totally agree, but they will be up against 14 other riders in the same boat, in fact probably more where teams have gone for two riders moving up from the NL, so to a degree their passage into the PL has been eased slightly in comparison to other years. So having a rider who has previously done well in the recent NL averages should give their teams an advantage, especially if they have regularly beaten those who will riding for the other 14 teams. We know that often confidence plays a big part in a riders form, so having the knowledge that you can beat your opponents more often than not will surely help some of the more talented riders kick on in the PL

You've obviously not looked beyond 2014 !! Spot on Simmo There's an old saying that goes something like "One swallow does not a summer make" If you look beyond 2014, Kus was awful at the Oaktree....... 2013 - 2 meetings 0 from 3 rides 5 from 5 rides 2012 - RR, he missed three Redcar meetings on the trot between 26th July and 3rd August, but rode in Poland in between 2011 - 1 meeting plus 1 RR 3 from 4 rides, and then a no show in October So is that really the form of a rider who has shown a liking for the OTA, I'll leave you to decide. BTW this is not me going to bat for Rohan Tungate, or any other rider come to that, just trying to inject a bit of balance.

Richie Worrall has signed for Belle Vue in the EL. He is their asset, so they would get priority, plus they are due to race on Friday nights at the new track, so I would imagine any appearance of Richie at the OTA in 2016, would be about as rare as Rocking Horse sh 1 t Sorry Naj, didn't see this before I posted the above........beat me to it !!

    Plymouth 2016

As Josh's contract is owned by Poole, any EL club who signed him prior to the 2016 season starting, to double up, would have first call. The only reason the Rebels had first call in 2015 is that he didn't have an EL place at the beginning of the season, and was only signed by Belle Vue after the season had started. This meant that last season, Belle Vue would only have first call on him where fixture clashes occurred because the Rebels had rearranged a fixture (causing the clash), but in all other cases where the originally arrange fixtures clashed, Somerset had first shout.

  17. Not allowed in the PL or NL in any 2 legged match decided on aggregate, but strangely that suspension of the TR rule does appear in the EL rules, so obviously does not apply to the EL play offs, clearly influenced by Sky TV coverage

Think you'll find Xavier has been on a little tour around a few tracks, think he's been to Ipswich as well, plus a couple of others. Also it's too late to make changes now, think the 28th August was the last day they could be made (SR 16.3.4).

    Plymouth 2015

You clearly don't understand how the averages work, what's coming up, average wise, is as important, if not more important than the present at times, which, looking at this switch, is something the Devils management obviously understand, even if you don't Who said I blamed them, just pointing out Lewy's 'Double Standards' attitude. Also the fact that James Wright would have been dropping to reserve, with Todd Kurtz going the other way had nothing to do with the fact the Devils made the switch, did it !!

    Somerset V Edinburgh 11.8.15

Think you'll find that those times are nowhere near correct, the fastest time recorded in the meeting was 56.59, by Cook in Heat 4, equalling the second fastest time of the season, set by Nick Morris. Brady Kurtz still holds the fastest time of the season at 56.44 Don't know where Sky got their times from, but none of the times you quoted as broadcast by them are accurate, and don't correspond to those announced by the official time keeper on Tuesday night. Having said that I would agree with your general point about the track. After their track walk, all the home riders expressed themselves happy with the racing surface Think you need to go back and re-watch the race Kelvin. Ollie was doing well until a slight error saw him clip the rear wheel of Max Clegg as he tried to cut back underneath him, which cost him some momentum and let in Branford, who then ran him wide (fairly) coming into the straight. To say he was poor is far from the truth

This will find the right person marketing@somersetrebels.co I can't guarantee you'll get a Womble on the end of it, but if you do it could be Uncle Bulgaria, Tobermoray, Wellington or Tomsk. It certainly won't be Orinoco or Bungo. Whoever it is will definitely be helpful
