  1. Care to explain how my analysis changes anything, or would you prefer every one to enjoy being mushrooms?
  2. I know the financial mechanics of running a team in every single league of British Speedway, and I can assure you that without TV money the quality of rider that teams can afford without wealthy backers is equal to second strings in the championship as heat leaders (or whatever league is set up to replace it). A few may try to front it out and prove top level speedway can exist without TV money but they will go bust by June or July. In addition to that if Championship and Premiership tried to amalgamate their would be a shortage of what we call second string riders so that means it would again push riders demands up. This years championship reserves could find themselves catapulted to stardom but I am not sure how many fans will come to watch them race. Overall summary: Pack of Cards
  3. Not sure what you are expecting but I feel no desire to comment as if I say anything positive it will be seen as favouritism and anything negative will be taken like I have an axe to grind. I will however say that I am very saddened at the way Speedway in UK seems to have continued its downward trajectory. Ten years ago I had so much hope for it and believed it could go onto great things, but now watching from the outside I am 100% sure it has missed the boat and before long (when the TV money runs dry) the sport will be semi-pro at its best (something between National League and Championship).
  4. I wouldn't speak to soon, Lynn could be very vulnerable over the remaining part of the season.
  5. I remember buster also going I'll at Edinburgh one night, surely Dale is not pulling the same trick 😉 MF will have no option, isn't buster the chairman of this wonderful sport?

Good signing and pleased Rose will have a spell at reserve, think he will clear up and score as many as Kai. Lewis has become one of my favourite riders, reminds me of Kevin Doolan in the effort and work ethic department. It would not surprise me if within a year or two had a higher average than Robert Lambert.
  7. Agreed, I made the mistake of attending a few weeks back and left at heat 10. The worst meeting I had ever seen and vowed to never waste my time or money again.

Promised? You make it sound like the clubs are doing them a favour which is clearly not the case. I can assure you every rider is up for grabs if you want them enough.
  9. Is this the same buster that drives the tractor during the meeting amongst many other jobs? I don't think it has anything to do with balls and may simply be down to availability and timing. Why not simply suggest they send a letter or email or post on the official FB page?
  10. Since the incident at kings Lynn many years ago where a rider was hit by the tractor new rules were brought in across the whole sport to ensure the tractor is not on the track at the same time as the bikes. The unfortunate ramifications are that once the tractor is out on the track at the end of a race (supposedly once bikes have left the track) the referee can not put the 2 minute warning on until the tractor has parked on the centre green or left the track again. Therefore the control of the speed of the meeting is with the promoter. That is why in the past I would have been seen on the track waving my arms up and down after the grader had done just or lap or two to remind the driver to come in. I can only assume no one has taken over this responsibility and the driver is not conscious of the delay they are causing.
  11. I really hope you can get to the bottom of this very confusing situation and publish the rules in the speedway star so the fans can understand what is going on?

I honestly thought a new chairman would change that. Maybe things have got better but how would we know, if there is a lack of PR fans are only left to assume the worst.
  13. A fantastic result, hopefully the team will push forward from here 👍

Ridiculous comment. No wonder so many people think you tow the club line in an official capacity with an attitude like that.
  15. I can assure you he does, I set him up on one and even gave him an email address before departing. Please be rest assured, I take no pleasure in witnessing the club my great grandfather proudly founded in 1965 being run with such inept and lack of care for the fans. I fear for the future like others, but unfortunately any advice I could offer would fall on deaf ears just as it would for any over fan who tries to offer it. You can only help those who want to be helped as the truest of sayings goes.

From my experience and knowledge of the association and the people in charge of it, I can confidently guess the answer is 'no'. Analytics, calculations and research are what is required when making such fundamental changes within any sport or business. However I would guess these changes were brought in after one person had an idea and put it as discussion point on the AGM agenda, then after twenty minutes (at a push) of discussion they all voted and was told if it passed the rest of the rules would be sorted out later. What no one realised was they would be sorted out 8 months later rather than before the season started 😉
  17. Rider of the night means nothing when you lose at home by such a large margin. In fact if you presented any rider with that award after such a heavy lose he would be embarrassed! The Stars have effectively been dumped out of the KOC in only the first leg and the best outcome of the meeting for you was the riders coming out unscathed! I think many other fans will have a different view so you can not blame them for thinking you are somehow trying to put spin out there to try and keep the attention away from the people responsible for this result. Surely the fans deserve better don't they?

Crazy when you consider the amount of empty Wednesdays there are on the calendar. I was responsible for fixture scheduling for many years, and in our first year in the Elite League is what tough because of Neils, Kenneth etc but with a lot of perseverance I managed to avoid fixture clashes for key riders whilst maintaining our regular race night. It is true a 1st draft is put together by third party, but after that each club is responsible in moving fixtures around if and how it suits with mutual agreement from the other club. In my opinion it is one of the most important jobs at any club, for example it makes no sense having the same club back within 4 weeks of their previous visit.
  19. I can assure you that if I received an email I would have replied. However if you think that the club was not run as well as what it is now then I have to accept that and apologise for letting you down. I hope you continue to enjoy your speedway. For people that own their own track a call off early in the morning has very little financial implication. However a call off from a few hours before the start up until heat 7 can be very expensive. I wasn't even mentioned in the 50th anniversary programme which must tell you something about what I should expect in such an event. Besides, life is more satisfying when you build your own wealth and success from ground zero rather than expecting it from others.
  20. Trees, for me and many others our moans have nothing to do with a conspiracy theory, it is simply the fact that the respect the club once commanded is quickly disintegrating. We all know the weather last night was good enough to run this meeting, however it was not run and a two sentence press release put out blaming 'adverse weather conditions' is very disappointing. If you think this kind of behaviour is positive then I believe you are the minority and not the members of this forum who are speaking their minds.
  21. Reading all of these comments this morning has saddened me immensely, I have no idea what is going on at this club and can not believe how far it seems to have disengaged itself from its own loyal supporters. Whilst Buster has been a safe pair of hands over the past 20 odd years it may be time for him to step back and allow new promoters with fresh enthusiasm and ideas to take it forward. ps That will definitely not be me before anyone throws that out as an idea
  22. I remember in the Premier League days we run a few meetings at the end of October with wind, rain and hail storms battering the track and riders. In fact one night I am sure we had to race off of the green lights because the wind was to strong and we could not get the tapes to stay still. Definitely no health and safety issues back then either and I always had faith that everything was bolted down and secured as well as could be expected.
  23. I am shocked, never imagined this would be off, may be it is the river beds flooding from under the track or the risk that high winds would through riders off their bikes. Whatever it is it would be nice if the official announcement gave more of a reason than just 'adverse weather conditions'. Can bet my bottom dollar that some fans will still turn up tonight as they believed they had no need to check to see it was still on before heading off.
