  1. You left after heat 9. Then you missed the only genuine pass of the night in heat 15

The riders were only using the inside 2 metres of the track nearly all night, so something was wrong, don't remember anything being done to change that either, but I could have missed that whilst having a snooze. Maybe the track needed to be slicker on this occasion?

Exactly why I got annoyed, all the delays and no work done to the track, just needed some grading to loosen the deep stuff up and move it to the outside. Then low and behold the tractor finally decides to come out and grade when we finally have the chance of seeing two heats run within minutes of each other. The referee even put the two minutes on whilst tractor was still on the track because he was obviously fed up waiting for him aswell!

Seriously worst event I have ever spent my money on, I believe all fans would be well and truly in their legal right to ask for a refund. If refused I believe this is the type of meeting where video evidence could be used to put a case together and take it all the way through to the high court with group action... and win.

If for example you compared the races side by side with a regular meeting you will see the riders were unable to control their bikes and therefore unable to race which is exactly what speedway is, racing. They would bring riders in as witnesses and ask them if they could race to which they would respond 'well we tried but really we were just gating and then trying to simply stay on our bikes, passing another rider was out of the question'. Therefore as public we had paid to watch 'competitive racing' which this clearly was not and therefore entitled to a refund.

That would then send a message to speedway and every other sport, STOP treating the fans like MUGS!

  2. Just been looking on the witches Facebook page and not one negative comment on any of it about last night. Comments like great performance and they really enjoyed that meeting, but most on here saying it was a shocker. Just proves people see their speedway differently.

Or maybe some of those fans on FB were not there. I was and left after heat 9, that experience totally zapped any enthusiasm I have for the sport and made me realise that you can change what ever rules you like and bring in as many new engines as you like, but fact is Speedway is dying because we have a bunch of club owners (refuse to use the word promoter) who do not know how to prepare a track, run a slick meeting and look after the public.

Can not imagine I will attend another meeting in the UK this year.

  3. To be fair Schlein and Thorsell both had paid ten and the Freddie / Masters combo had been 5-1'd in heat thirteen.

Agree with earlier comments though, the three home points regardless of the winning margin thing is a shocker of a rule, they should have left it how it was ie the home team loses a point if the away team gains one.

I was a big fan of the original league point system, but unfortunately it was changed following a campaign by Jon Cook (Lakeside) after its second year. He said his home fans went home feeling like they had lost if they only got 2 league points which was bad for business.

  4. I tipped Rye to make P/Offs at beginning of the season but Davey Watt was their enigma, now they have replaced him they have the makings of a good team. However Harris and Nichols not going too well recently and with the Stars also blowing hot and cold the result really could go anyway.

My prediction is 8-10 point home win.

  5. If only Woffinden had ridden for Australia. Years of bickering on the forum could have been avoided, and people would've just expected all the arrogance and big-headedness!

And moaned why he didn't chose to ride for GB....

  6. Sadly I live a good 90 mins away from Saddlebow now and have to be up at 5.30 so cannot really stay behind after the meet. Would really appreciate an update Trees, on anything interesting that Dale and/or Robert had to say... Thanks

I wish you luck Semion, clearly this is a person who believes the club should be run in a cloak and dagger manor. Best to hope that a sensible supporter who strives for openness and transparency posts a report.

ps I would especially expect more from someone who is meant to be running the 'supporters club'

  7. Yeah, you had to be there and forgo ya early night :D #evillook #smug

An end of season dvd shows how the season panned out, the press conferences are part of it ...

The riders walked through the crowd at the end of the parade which is a great opportunity for fans to talk to them, congratulate them, commiserate with them, have photos with them etc and all helps with the fan/rider/club togetherness

I thought Star Lady was very diplomatic in trying to get you to see that there is no need to act like a school child but guess you are what you are.

I am hopeful either the club will release the footage on the official website in the next 24 hours or a courteous supporter who cares about others will let the fans who were unable to attend for legitimate reasons know what was said.

  8. Mentioned before on the forum, but too early at that time I guess, but still time to produce 'anybody but TAI' tee shirts for Cardiff GP - with profits going to the Speedway riders benevolent fund. British Speedway dont need a rider who is happy to British when it suits him - perhaps best for him to ride under the United Nations flag this year. I personally will be routing for the worthy GB rider who has come through the mill to get there - at the moment a certain Mr Cook will be the worthy occupant of that status.

Can't imagine what the t-shirt will say if it is Rory Schlein 🙈

  9. He's lost already, let the others have the prestige of this meeting, Tai can go on a long weekend away.

You sound like the perfect candidate for the sports next Chairperson, clearly you feel British speedway needs to prove a point to Tai and is better to cut off its nose to spite its face.

SAUCER OF MILK TO THE CAT ON TABLE 1

    # If you're a Woffinden fan, it's the BSPA's fault.

    # If you're not a Woffinden fan it's his fault.

    # If you're a Team GB fan, it's both their faults.

For some that is the perfect summary, however for those who are trying to see it from the perspective of bringing much needed publicity to the sport then clearly it does not matter who's fault it is, the simple fact is the best riders SHOULD be riding.

  10. Where is he now then JC ? Use to throw a good party at Shipdham lol

He still owns his house in Shipdham as well as many other properties but also resides in Malta for the majority of the year. Becoming a resident of Malta does mean he will benefit from their tax laws, however he is not trying to avoid anything. He owns a very successful website called Property 118 and is a well respected legal adviser for many property entrepreneurs.

As you will see from the link below 'the Money Centre' is still an active company which means it clearly did not 'go bust'.

  11. Taking a helicopter view of this, surely the BSPA would love the potential publicity of winning a gold medal at the games.

Therefore surely Tai should be a shoe in irrelevant of wether the sports management committee took umbridge to his attitude or clash of personalities.

This is a massive balls up in my opinion and it needs sorting before Tai is lost to British Speedway for good.

  12. I was looking at a team photo from the premier league days the riders and promotion where all play fighting trying to ride what looks like a bucking bronco everyone looked so happy and a team. Now you are lucky if they can be bothered to wave to the crowd as they are too busy talking to each other on the parade truck. I watched lamberts meeting today in Poland and all the riders walked the track shaking hands and bowing and waving to the fans why can't they be bothered to do that at lynn ?? The management should make them the kids are the future !

The bucking bronco was part of one of the theme nights (Wild West from memory) which I promoted over the summer holidays. Nothing to stop this happening in the Elite or National league, they were a great success and as you said, they also helped the team bond more.

  13. Did none of you enjoy our PL days, funny old lot.

    I enjoyed them Trees.

The effort and commitment put in by our riders was way above anything I witnessed in the Elite League. This clearly feed into the crowd and every meeting felt like a cup final. No one understood how fans enjoyed the 75-15 thumping of Sheffield but if was not about the racing, it was about the effort and watching our team fight so hard with so much effort and commitment.

Incredible days and I think that is what GRW and others are missing.

  14. Probably after reading Philip Rising damning verdict of AFA race track in todays SS, Hopefully Buster will do something about it.......

Would certainly imagine Mr Risings phone was red hot this morning. Apart from that I can not imagine Buster wants to relay hundreds of tons of shale which is my guess at where the problem lays.

  15. As for the Olly Allen suggestions, I would like to know what makes him such a good candidate for TM and if those credentials are so appealing then why he hasn't got a job elsewhere.

Having personally worked with Olly when he was our team captain I can vouch that his professionalism, attention to detail, and knowledge of riding at this level on the majority of tracks would make him the perfect candidate.

  16. What went wrong?

Imagine going to a bank manager with British Speedways business plan?

    1. We will pay our best employees far in excess of what we can afford.

    2. We will allow all our employees the right to work elsewhere on the days we are open leaving us short staffed. To back this up we will sign an agreement to allow other overseas companies to have the first option on our best employees..

    3. When our employees are elsewhere (either in this country or abroad) we will have an arrangement to use employees from our competitors, even though we realise that this will lead to an obvious 'conflict of interest' and be deemed 'a bit Mickey Mouse'...

    4. We will only open on those days our employees kindly inform us they are available rather than open on the busiest days which will give us our highest income.

    5. We will attempt to build our business on the 'emotional loyalty' of our customers, but will do our utmost to ensure that our employees will have very little local affinity (if indeed any at all) with their customers to enjender it..

    6. Our prices will not reflect the quality we have on offer but will simply be set high to offset the heavy cost base we have decided to run with.

    7. Our major target customer profile are families, however we will use out dated media to try and attract them and utilise a business premises infrastructure that looks and feels like the 20th Century never happened, never mind the 21st Century started...

    8. We will seek major investment from TV to promote our business but will only use this cash to pay our best employees. (The ones that miss the most days from work as they are invariably elsewhere). What we won't do is use this investment to reduce prices or improve the premises, or indeed, the overall customer experience.

    9. Year on year we plan to reduce the quality of what we produce but supplement the inevitable drop in customers by putting in inflation busting price increases to the customers that stay with us..

    10. We will utilise a 'flexible' operating model, one which is subject to change on any whim, meaning ultimately our customers will, over time, have very little faith in the way the business is ran and ultimately stop coming...

Bank Managers, fill your boots, you know it makes sense..☺

Although I do have to say I think any reasonable Bank Manager may spot 'one or two flaws' in the 'cunning plan'...😆

With a plan like that they don't need a bank, it could go straight to an IPO.... Well enough people are already buying into it 😝

  17. Doubling up is certainly not popular but i can not ever see it being reversed. Problem is British riders are now used to earning a living by racing in two British leagues, plus the foreign stuff. Take 1 league away and the other will have to pay.... Extra

  18. People blaming the promotion for long drawn out meetings, isn't it the refs job to move procceedings along

Due to health and safety restrictions the referee is not permitted to put the two minute warning on until the all machinery has cleared the track.

Therefore the referee can actually do nothing to move a meeting on if a tractor driver decides to stay out on track for half an hour.

  19. actually the new branding has been very evident on both Twitter and Facebook, with a brilliant colour advert with both team line ups and all the information needed for the meeting, also picture of each Captain, so tbf they are trying this year. Ipswich Newcastle and Peterborough have made close season track changes, along with Leicester, it's very early days surely for this season to be so down in the dumps!!

Agreed all looks better, however still need a good product that represents VFM or it will all be in vain.
