It is with great sadness we received the news this morning that Bill Slaughter, a big supporter of the Isle of Wight Speedway, the National League and many riders including Kelsey Dugard and Alex Spooner, has passed away. Warriors Promoters Barry Bishop and Martin Widman have written their respects on the Warriors social media, which are both included below: Barry Bishop: Very upset to read this news from Kelsey Dugard about Bill Slaughter. Many of you will have known him on the pits gate or around the stadium. Bill first got involved with the Warrior - Way as a driver for Kelsey and he loved the place so much he continued to travel from his home every week to watch and support the Warriors before becoming a valued member of our volunteers force. Although a volunteer, Bill still paid his ferry fares and bought a season ticket for the club every year to do his bit. God’s speed my friend, until we meet up again. Martin Widman: It is with great regret that I post the following news that was passed to me this morning By Kelsey Dugard and that is the passing of Bill Slaughter, our friend, supporter and recently the best dressed gate man in speedway. Bill you were a gentleman in every way, charming, courteous and very supportive of several young speedway riders. You will be missed by many people. RIP my friend. Bill will be greatly missed on the Island and around the tracks in UK speedway. RIP Bill.

Hi Chris, thanks for your support for the Warriors and our footage. As for away wins? Well, when making the decision to put the meeting footage up, we wanted to relive the Warriors journey so far, highs and the lows, in order and without prejudice. Already we have seen an away win in one of the videos already available in fact. Even when the Warriors haven't been able to reach the scores needed for a win on the night, its clear their efforts were/are always valued, along with all of the Warriors off track team, supporters, helpers and indeed sponsors. So by putting these meetings up and reliving the journey, the highs and the lows, we hope will convey the Warrior Way, something that Speedway Portal are very proud to have been apart of from the start, and continue to be today. Which clubs are showing regular match videos?
SpeedwayPortal replied to 00000's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Hi guys, every 3 days we are putting up an Isle of Wight 'Wightlink Warriors' full meeting on our YouTube channel in partnership with the Warriors Club. We have started with their return to the track Press & Practise Day in 2016, the first individual meeting, followed by the second already, and it will continue every 3 days in order of meetings until either speedway resumes or we run out of footage. These are the full meetings. Either check out the Isle of Wight thread on the forum inside National League section, or search for the Speedway Portal channel on YouTube. Other videos are on there also with much more footage planned in the coming weeks from various riders and clubs. And if you like it, why not press the subscribe button and the notification 'bell' by the side of it, that way you will get notified the moment a new video is released in the future, whilst helping us out at the same time. -
