Hope you are right, looks like they've been doing their homework and looking at riders who may have a certain commitment to BV and will improve. Better than our last excursion into this level, thought some of the riders then were unlikely to improve much with the exception of Garrity and Howarth.

Indeed good news and shows the shows the longer-term vision of the management team. Does anyone know, however, whether Max Fricke has been signed? It was suggested last year.

Personally can't wait for the season to start. I do hope that they will fully utilise such a facility and as far as possible have a meeting an each week throughout the season. Being in both leagues will help but maybe some 'extra' meetings which include some of the top boys who prefer to stay away from the EL can also be scheduled. I'm sure a lot of people from other tracks will want to come to a meeting at BV. Here's hoping

Agree also but the basics still need to be there, a fixed race night, a continuity of fixtures and a settled team. This encourages the 'habit'. It seems to me that over the last few years in the EL, the habit has been lost. It certainly has for me and it has only been the new start at BV that has sparked my enthusiasm for the sport. Personally I can't wait for the season to start.

Thanks for the info and the links but has anyone heard anything specifically about speedway in Manila? I maybe more Australia orientated being closer so not sure whether similar sites exist for Australian speedway. Any ideas?

Just wondering whether anyone knows of Asian venues where speedway has been staged. I've been to the Japanese version in Tokyo in the early 80's when living in Hong Kong but it was on tarmac and only about betting. I'm sure I've read somewhere about an effort to run speedway in Manila but don't remember it myself. Any information would be welcome. Always felt that it would go down well in Malaysia where they are bike mad.

Indeed, and for all of his faults that period mid-60s to mid-80s were successful. Lot of growth then, new tracks and British rider development.
