What about Simon Stead or Ollie Allan both young enthusiastic for the sport and connected to the generation riding today well respected and within the media spot light... mind you what's Mr Atwood up to now days seemed a decent guy from the early days.

    Leicester Lions 2017

Just read the article in the star bullet points below: life long fan wants to promote family's back into the sport, applauds the efforts of chapman to secure the long term future of leicester they have both put finances into the promotion, very critical of Hemsleys involvement and seemed embarrassed that the riders pay issue was not resolved until recently. Trying to bring back all the sponsors, accepts is an entertainment business and believes can turn around the fortunes. Good riders have been contacting the promotion but want assurances Hemsley is not involved. They are awaiting outcome of coventry as there maybe riders who would fit there plans but at the same time hopes they survive.Doesn't believe that ground sharing with coventry is the way forward. If indeed he understands the fans concerns lets hope track changes are imminent as those I talk to seem to always raise this. Need to get moving pretty quickly once this weather changes if to action with the season around the corner. Let's get behind the guy and hope we finally get a team to be proud of with a good nights entertainment....fingers crossed.

Happy hunter we can only presume then that a race night has already been agreed for the team to be in place and we the public shall be informed soon.......

    Leicester Lions 2017

I believe we need to have a blend of race nights next season Saturdays when allows around sgp and a dedicated night in week. Early season may be difficult for some young family's with children however as we progress into the summer holidays should be easier. Let's remember even the footy have Saturday Sunday afternoons, evening games along with Monday,Tuesday evenings plenty attend. Unfortunately today's public have to be flexible around so many other sports. Just hope is promoted in the press far better than historically. Let's also hope if aloud buster can make track changes to allow better quality racing to entice those who have walked away. I for one will give my hard earned cash in the early days and see how we progress...he's hoping.

Let's hope there is flexibility with the fixture lists, by this I mean early season Saturdays until the rest of Europe and gp kicks in with a mid week night. This for me shall be a key driver to entice a quality team.

Still the silly season but heard a few times now Matej Zagar for lions next season anyone heard the same.....

Been to motorcycle live today talking to people connected with the sport, whilst coventry are the enemy up the road I do hope things get sorted with the stadium to allow another season there with all the fixture and fitting piece going on... Apparently lions have already got there no1 signed so hopefully this is good news to be imminently announced with new promotor etc..

    Leicester Lions 2017

So reading the star today it comments that fans need to be patient as ongoing meetings taking place. Announcements will only be made once a deal is fully completed. Being positive and we indeed get a new promotor what would be your preferred team selections for the lions 2017 season......

Seems very strange, if I lease a commercial building or domestic property would not expect the landlord to let me in each day. Come on Mr Hemsley let's attract some common-sense and thought around all joe public who welcome speedway in the city. If there is no deal completed how does the venue create revenue for you ?, there are no other activities to support a multi functional venue like stock cars, football, rugby, dogs etc. very bazaar....

    Leicester Lions 2016

When attending the recent ERC at coventry I spoke to a member of the leicester employed staff who categorically told me was owed thousands of pounds. I don't wish to advise of the name as I don't think is fair to the individual but please be assured I'm no liar and have only ever stated facts.

    Leicester Lions 2017

Total farce, least the promotion can do is be honest with a statement of club aspirations for 2017 instead of all these debates of elite/premier/non. Run a successful business and if I treated my clients and staff in such an appalling way would be out of business......o wait a minute they are.. Let's start with a clean sheet and fresh approach he's hoping.

From the horses mouth last night. riders not been paid for months all the bond has gone from earlier in season promotor totally oblivious to the whole rider relationship. Club being sold, premier league for the lions next season. The final meeting of the season will be administered by the bspa with gate receipts going to the riders payments. Let's hope we get a decent crowd to support those guys who put there lives on the line for our entertainment month in month out. Whilst I accept Helmsley is the promotor what about the co promotors don't they take any responsibility here.... Shame on you Helmsley all you had to do was swallow some humble pride listen to those offering support and you may just still have a business that could develop further within a strong midlands catchment area..

What Would You Like From The Agm

When is the bspa AGM. When do we find out as supporters the new formats rule changes etc....

    Leicester Lions 2016

No club is anything without its fans who pay the bills to enable a business to further develop its product. Very poor management to not even inform of the present situation. That said if indeed the BSPA are now running the remainder of this campaign why have they not communicated to the public. If only an independent association could be formed.....Great Motorsport that is in such a dire position with in a lot of instances only itself to blame....

What Is Going On At Leicester

The fundamentals are solid business plans for any entertainment business even more so in speedway now days with the lack of corporate sponsorship. Running with in the region of 18 revenue days per year is just un sustainable. Compound this with lack of consistent entertainment drives a very difficult business. Very few clubs see consistent levels of attendance this in part due to the stop start of home meetings you need regularity to keep interest, some will argue due to ever increasing gps, sec etc. so what are the answers.. Utilise the arena on a more consistent basis. Promote the centre green for other sports offer loyalty schemes attend 6 meetings next visit half price. I still honestly believe within this city and surrounding shires the gates would be far better with more entertainment that I'm sorry to seem like broken record to many of these Leicester forums is in a large part down to a poor track. Competing with rugby football basketball etc can be hugely expensive for family's such as my own. Come on Leicester speedway listen to the general public the ones who spend there hard earned money. The old saying of speculate to accumulate has never been so apparent. I really do hope that this is not the end after all those years but unless there are significant and difficult humble pie u turns then sat 17th sept may we'll be the last time the gates open for some time.....

    Coventry 2016

Fingers crossed that a short term lease can be agreed between the owners and Motorsport's in the interim of locating a new site. Such an iconic venue with many happy memory's watching speedway and stock car racing over the years. Keep fighting.
  20. Let's take it back to when the lions first opened and bring the bikes out to the start line introduce the riders individually complete the coin toss and let them have a couple of practise laps as we are saying it's an entertainment sport lets start entertaining a little more.

    Leicester Lions 2016

Yes he may have shortened the straights but not to any great effect. Clearly again last night from watching the racing lines tight to the boards on bend 2 then close on bend 4 is a natural line the bikes make. If only they could make the bends wider would be a tremendous little stadium yes means major work to move temp stands but look at the long term gains. Actual racing with multi lines such a shame...
  22. Nice to see a bit of effort made by the winning home riders lap of honour with the lions flag. For one minute I thought it was an entertainment business lol.. Now for the return of some start line girls and completion of mowing the lawn.
  23. The point is whilst we remain a Saturday night team we shall always struggle. Don't get why we can't become a Friday night club. Yes cov ride on this night but can't be that many fans who support both teams. This way far better chance of bigger pool of guests to choose from and even riders we may be able to entice of heat leader quality...

    Leicester Lions 2016

As an avid supporter of this great family sport for many years from first being taken along to B.Road in the final years by my parents then getting my weekly fix from up the m69 (sorry) until the relaunch now taking my own family to numerous events around the uk i believe even in these challenging times there are some short term wins the club could action. Just so we are all clear I believe the track shape is poor and until further modifications are made 70% of the racing shall remain processional sad when you compare to the likes of Peterborough up the road and given time the new belle vue however this post is not to go over old ground. Quick wins. Meeting intro. Bring the bikes out to the start line introduce the riders coin toss in front of the fans and allow practise laps. Winner of a heat, home or away rider MUST complete a lap of honour get one of the track staff to have a chequered flag on exit of bend two as with the early days of the GP. Re build the pits so the fans can see the action (medium term) in the short term get the home team to set up outside onto the back wall as with the second half guys, allow access into this area from the slope on bend one with fenced area for HS let the fans see what's going on.. More mid meeting interviews Rob seems to do a descent job so let's have more of the team and management. Post meeting interviews if they will participate get the away manager and there top rider to participate. Jon Cook was the first person in some considerable time. Yes we will only see the real potential of this club with crowds when we finally address the track creating revenue to finally develop the project. We are now at a Crossroad we either Drop down to the premier league to continue as a weekend sport or go mid week enticing a wider pool of rider availability (my preference) before I get comments of the crowds will drop with family's each week etc how do other sports manage then with week night events. I really do believe if the entertainment is improved people will start to return it's been long enough since we returned to the city time to kick on. One final point I know lions live in the jungle but please cut the grass before the next home meeting or we shall have our own jungle...
