  1. Interesting to see how this goes, for mine there's 8-9 riders could win this if at their best but inconsistency is a big issue for many of them.  Hopefully the track has more to offer than a gating competition and is prepared so as to allow genuine racing.

I'll opt on this track for Milik, Smolinski, Kasprazak, but very hard to call.  A shame in my view that Madsen and Jepsen Jepsen are missing.

  2. Outrageous decision by WC selectors. So much for the concept of this being a competition for the worlds best riders, clearly factors other than riders form have prevailed here. Milik, in particular with a 3GP ave of 10 and Lebedevs have showed they are highly competitive against the worlds best both miss out while riders who proved this year that they aren't get the nod. Such a shame that this brilliant sport is so often undermined by a 'cowboy' mentality at administrative/management levels.

  3. My tips

Assuming that Freddie won't require a pick, if he does he'll replace my #4 below

Noting that Holder, Iverson, Kildeman, and Lindback have all averaged in 2017 less than it usually takes to qualify for the Semis -

so too Hancock, but he's likely to get cut more slack than the others.

Milik has from 3 GP's averaged 10.33 with a Finals appearance. Vaculik's GP win might give him an edge if its tight for last spot.

    1. Hancock 2. A Dane - MJJ?, (or toss a coin - NKI/LM/PK/NP) 3. Milik 4. 2017 SGP #9

  4. Its to be hoped gates dont play to inside advantage as happened in Pardubice last years round where gate 4 resulted in only 1/23.

Smektala has a wonderful draw pulling gate 1 twice but more importantly drawing inside all the other current top 5 riders where

he meets them. Lambert, Fricke, and Kurtz on the other hand all wear gate 4 twice, with Kurtz in particular with a rough trip

drawing outside Lambert, Smektala and Drabik where they meet.

Good luck & safe meeting to riders and hopefully we see top class racing.

  5. Is Brady fit? I didn't have a bet yet as never bet too far in advance for this very reason

as its only 3 rounds a poor first round through injury will pretty much rule him out I reckon

where are the 3 rounds as I don't rate the poles that highly outside of Poland and would favour Fricke or even Lambert, I know the first ones in Poznan

Maybe Gustrow at 298 metres might give those that ride the British tracks well an advantage, but Poznan at 370m and Pardubice 400m shouldn't offer problems for the Europeans.

Big shame for Brady starting with an injury, I had thought him the pick of the Aussies on 2017 GB form, and a serious chance for top 3.

Would have been good to see the young Russian Chuganov in here considering his World Cup heroics.

  6. Updates from Terenzano on Saturday evening start time 7.15pm UK time here https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/relacja/73450/2-polfinal-el-do-gp-2018-w-terenzano

Thank you for that, I've just done the time conversion for where I am in Aus, and I can probably squeeze in another glass or two of red before I park up for a 4am start in front of the PC.

I'd love to see Laguta and Milik in next years GP & think they both should get through here, Dudek a likely top 3 and Cookie should get through as well. Keen to see how Max Fricke fares but thinking it's a year too soon for him for GP.

    Cheers

  7. I think Fricke, Jeppesen and Woentin.

Jeppesen and Woentin both just missed out with 5th. No Swedes in yet so that makes Woentin extra favourable for a wildcard.

Kaczmarek with 5th no much chance for a wildcard as there are already 4 Polish riders in.

Hope they give Chugunov a chance though.

Patrick Hansen should be on the short list for a WC if his mechanical/? is taken into account, its probable without that he would have had additional points to his Pardubice tally of 10 and thereby have qualified 3rd or at least been in the run off for it.

I'm an Aussie and would love to see Fricke in the Finals, but 1 heat win from 5 completed rides here and he's had every chance under the system to qualify, so he made need luck or perhaps being defending champ may get him a berth. He's a better rider than 11 points in this company suggests and a big surprise to me to see his scorecard.

You may be right on the Swede: even tho this is titled a World Championship, I'm not convinced that having the best 16 U21 riders is the main intention in this process, if it were - why are countries given allocations that are way above that warranted by the form/competiveness of their riders, eg France, Norway, Czech, Sweden. Poland and Denmark warrant their numbers because of strength in depth but this event often seems a benefit for the European countries/riders to me.
