  1. Hans fan

I don't know, the varied use of the word ' they' as in 'they speak better English they arsonfire' can be difficult to understand .

That said where I live is spelt 'Duston', but all the locals(including the one I married) live in a place called Duson. And don't get me started on the name of the river spelt 'NENE' but pronounced 'NEN' by the locals .

  2. NO the Broadband stays - my kids would lynch me if their access to 'you Tube' and 'World of WarCraft' disappeared.

The kids have been taken to Peterborough - Ryan from 3 months Old - he turns 17 Tuesday, Alex has been going since 1 month old she's 9 and a half.

In terms of the other comments about "Local Track" - Peterborough was never our local track - Coventry is nearer and easier to get to - No never going to consider going to speedway at Coventry (or anywhere else). Ryan gave up Speedway a while ago as teenager he prefers battling trolls and orcs in World of Warcraft these days.

If Peterborough go Premier we will continue to follow them - ironically probably spend more time and money - as last time they were in an equivalent league we followed them home and away - one year visited every track in the country.

What we would miss most about the Speedway are the people - friends we meet every week, the banter, the texts and e-mails during the closed season etc.

  3. Trev

Likewise, Speedway has lost another 3 fans here,

Its on 'black days' like this when you tot up how much is spent on :-

    Season tickets

    Transport

    Food

    Speedway related clothing

    Speedway Star

    Sky Sports Movies and Sport

    TIME

That you realise how much opportunity cost has been wasted over the years.

What we will miss the most is the people and the banter - not sure we will miss the bodged up product mislabelled as "Elite League Speedway 2014'

  4. Seems like a good idea to me :approve:

Just like every other promoter who cherry picks the rules in place including Peterborough (letting Coventry speak to Andersen and not Swindon clearly breaks the rules as Patch pointed out)

There seems to be an awful lot of “assumptions” about what has been going on.

And I know no more than anyone else.

Everyone seems to assume that Hans was going on loan to Coventry is that true?

There were a lot of suggestion about Harris joining Peterborough prior to the AGM, perhaps Peterborough and Coventry were contemplating an asset switch. In which case Coventry talking to Hans would make sense. Obviously this would have been wrecked by the 2 from the top 20 rule implemented at the AGM.

Everyone seems to be saying Peterborough are objecting to Troy going on loan to Swindon – is that the case? Perhaps and I only speculate that a “Master of the Dark arts” at the BSPA may be reminding key decision makers on the management committee of some of the alleged guidelines in the alleged promoters handbook.

Everyone seems to be assuming Peterborough have a financial gain in this – perhaps they do, but other promoters may perceive they have a “greater” strategic game by disrupting some of the team building plans.

Peterborough have stated they have released Hans. Swindon have stated they are aware of Hans being released ,so who or what is the hold up?

Was it ever announced why the bids for Hans were so suddenly and quickly withdrawn?

Previous closed season disagreements are a good indicator of the games some of these individuals try to play.

  5. <SNIP>

Went to EESG to watch the match Vs Poole at the back end of last year, the attendance weren't that good, but what surprised me was the amount of free cars parked behind the main Grandstand. There were more there, then in the main car park. Are these counted in the attendances?

    <SNIP>

Not that black and white -

My car was one of those behind the GrandStand -Season Ticket holder entitled to free parking on main car park - we were allowed to park behind the Grandstand for several months beacause she who has to be "consulted" had had major surgery on her foot and could not walk far.

Peterborough speedway is very good at supporting those with disabilities and those suffering serious illness or recovering from illness and surgery. They also run a scheme where for a higher season ticket price individuals can get a sort of corporate sponsorship which among other things entitles them to park inside the Showground.

You may find that a least one of the more "crochety" regular posters on this forum gets to park there as well - but I dare not mention who, as it would no doubt result in a verbal ear bashing and possibly broken legs :D

  6. HI Trev

Very much still alive - despite Elaine's best attempts.

Got the season ticket app forms ready and will be their yet again.

I trust you are keeping well - still sitting in the cheap seats near the start line?

Glad to see you are still sparring with the individuals in the City of Birmingham overspill areas :D

  7. I don’t know anything about the Kings Lynn situation BUT there was talk towards the end of last season that a proposal was going to the AGM to “Scrap” Loan fees in the difficult economic climate clubs were experiencing.

I don’t know if this proposal was submitted and if so whether it was accepted, rejected or put on hold.

Perhaps the proposal itself was seen as the “writing on the wall” hence the differing positions clubs have taken.

With all the different vested interests and percetion of "rule bending", perhaps certain limitations and constraints may have been placed on the proposal by the BSPA.
