    Well done the S.C.B.

Ive just seen all of this and didn't really want to get involved to be honest. Ive paid my fine but would just like to put the above record straight if you can hear me out. I was and still am ( at present ) the Redcar Cubs team manager. The above incident as Pottering Around has indicated did occur while Redcar and Ashfield were racing. The actions had nothing whatsoever to do with the result. We as a team have brought on local youngsters as much as possible and winning although great certainly would not get me to lose the plot as suggested. The referee I will say has got the story completly wrong with the suggestion I stormed the box. Actually I knocked and waited until whoever was sitting next to the door gestured for me to enter. On entering I asked to speak to the referee and the same chap told me this was him. I then tried to show him the video which he then screamed at me to GET OUT. Whether he checked with his staff before he wrote his report I don't know but I knocked and waited and DID NOT storm any box. I said that he had made a huge error and that my junior rider was being accused of something he had not done. I then turned around and left without swearing or any aggressive behaviour whatsoever. Yes I was angry but the only part that maybe I would have changed was closing the door a little harder than I should have. I believe what I did to be wrong, I should not have done it a regret that in the heat of the moment looking after my young riders got in the way of my sensible decisions. I then heard nothing for about a month before I received a email saying I had been fined and had to pay in 28 days. No one asked for any explanation or anything on my part. I did reply with my side of the story but apart from an appeal procedure this has not been acknowledged or anything. I love my Speedway, Ive been a supporter for 40 years, a rider for the last 4 years and now a team manager spending thousands in the process. I don't get paid a penny for any of this and feel a stern warning as to future conduct would have been surfice of a punishment for a first offence. I never thretened anyone, I never even swore at anyone but that's £100 I've now had to pay. Maybe at the end of the season it may just be better to abandon what is becoming more and more a sinking ship. Best Regards Gavin

    Tractor Guys

If a track has dirt on it then the tractors are needed to keep it race-able with todays modern bikes. The slicker the track to start with then the less work needed. At Redcar we use 2 tractors along with a water bowser and because this work gets done every approx 4 heats the track at the end is still in great condition. If you think Speedway is bad have you ever been to Ice Speedway ? After every 4 heats its about a 20 minute delay for grading and smoothing of the surface. Normally in about -10 degrees.

    Redcar v Newcastle

I think you will find that if the case was we wanted to beat the Gems that bad we would not have put Dave Pye in and instead got a guest of a higher caliber. Dave is not in our declared 3 man 500cc squad but Im very happy to use him as he has shown 100% commitment when asked to ride. We also had young Brandon Woblewski in who unfortunately his points don't count because of hi Polish passport. Would I have give him a ride if winning was everything ? Young Kyran Lyden would have taken the no 1 spot instead of Elliot Kelly but he didn't have a bike and as The Gems had already approached Ben to guest for Joe Alcock if Joe was unfit it seemed logical to get Ben a ride for the Cubs. If you would like me to go in to a few things that you have no idea about please feel free to PM me and I will happily discuss. Best Regards Gavin Parr ( Cubs team manager )
  4. Stay behind and watch Redcars own Elliot Kelly spearheading the Cubs versus Edinburgh in the NJL after the main meeting. Extra entertainment for your money .
  5. Always fireworks when Garrity rides at the STMP. Auty is always worth the admission money and Jake Allen should be pretty good to watch. MPT is a big player in this one and no one is more frustrated than himself as to why the bikes just are not performing so far at home. This looks like being a cracker of a match with the weather forecast looking good. 47-43 Home win for me

    Redcar v Leicester

Bears just couldn't find their gating gloves and were out battled on the night by a very solid looking Leicester side. Heat 1 had two bad decisions in my view with firstly Perks going down on turn 1 without contact and getting a all 4 and then Nicholls taking Bacons leg going into bend 3. Nicholls said sorry to Bacon but it was Bacons exclusion light that came on. Take nothing away from Leicester though, they gated very well and raced brilliantly.

    Redcar v Leicester

Bears will be looking to keep up the great form they showed against Sheffield but after 12 days off hopefully this doesn't work against those that don't race in both leagues. Leicester have some great talent in their ranks with Josh Bates hitting the ground running after a year out with a back injury. Going for a home win but I reckon this one could have a few twists and turns before the result is known. Stay behind if you can as the Cubs have their first league match against the Ashfield Giants from Glasgow. 6 more heats of action for you on what promises to be a lovely sunny and pretty warm evening.
  8. Second Half Action No Cubs meeting tonight but a couple of exciting looking line ups for both the 500 and 125 classes. Our own Elliot Kelly will get a good tough test before his debut for Mildenhall in the National League while in the 125 class myself and Jamie will be keeping a close eye on both Liam Sharples and Will Hoceniuk. Both lads will be making their Media Prima Arena debuts with Will looking to impress and take the squad position vacated by Alex Goldsbrough. Late in - 9 year old William Cairns will be making the trip up from his Buckinghamshire base to complete the line up in the 125cc heats. We apologies for the programme changes but we had 3 changes to the 500 line up during the week. 500cc Elliot Kelly Josh Embleton Kieran Douglas Tamas Sike 125cc Callum Gill Liam Sharples Will Hoceniuk William Cairns Stay behind if you can and give the lads a bit of encouragement.
  9. This one has a cracker written all over it. Strong heat leaders on both sides and some of the best young talent also on show. Tough one to call but Im thinking the Bears will take the points, but by a slender margin. Get along and enjoy some top class action on one of the very best race tracks in the country.

    Newcastle 2019

It was a nice send off for a good bloke. George certainly wasnt perfect and at times could be a bit of a pain, however he was genuine and told you his thoughts. He was a one off and someone I certainly enjoyed having in my life from the start. He will be a huge miss to many people at Brough and it was great to see so many give him a decent send off. RIP George Regards Gavin

    REDCAR 2019

IF Redcar Racer has the team correct it looks like a cracker to me. 3 established heat leaders, 3 young Brits all still very much heading upwards in the sport and Jordy who I have a feeling could be a huge player in the championship next season. Time will tell if he is correct but I for one would be over the moon if it was proved to be the case.

    REDCAR 2019

Right call made by the promotion. Pretty grim evening and a lot of expense on flights etc would have been wasted. Fingers crossed for better weather next Thursday.

  16. Is the ruling ( I stand to be corrected ) not about what position the riders are in but more so that if the referee deems the falling rider did not make a proper attempt to clear the track. If your knocked unconscious he probably had a pretty good excuse. Its to try and stop riders who fall at the back when they are getting 1-5d and just staying down for a re run I believe.
  17. If you had seen him in the pits afterwards you would have understood why he didnt clear the track ;-) he didnt even know he was in Newcastle for a long time and asked his mechanic after about 20 minutes what had happened and where had he crashed. It was worrying to see him sitting in his chair with the lights on but no one at home.

    Redcar v Glasgow 17/5/18

I watched his first meeting at Peterborough and he beat Nichols in heat 1. Then in his 2nd he was on a 5-1 with Barker when he flipped coming out of the corner and suffered some internal damage. He then struggled for a few weeks with injury and his engines just were not performing. Sent them off to SWR before last weeks Julie Lewis meeting and I think we have all now seen what the lad is capable of. Could easily be in a heat leader role before long.

    Redcar v Glasgow 17/5/18

The racing at STMP since Terry took over the track duties at the start of last season has been second to none. Yep the team has been struggling so far this season but thats also got something to do with every away rider relishing the prospect of racing at Redcar. Last night as you say was Speedway right out of the top drawer.

  21. If Stewart is at reserve he will do well tonight as Scunny dont have the strongest reserves around. Ive already seen enough to know he has the talent and just needs a bit of time to get used to British Racing. The kid beat Nichols around Peterborough and was getting a 5-1 in his next race before looping it out of turn 4. He has had a couple of big offs and is feeling it a bit injury wise. Give him a bit of time and he will defo be a huge club asset in the future

    Newcastle 2018

1000 Miles, 3 Meetings, 3 days The weekend ahead could be a major make or break one for Josh Embleton as he embarks on three race meetings in three days. This might not sound like anything out of the ordinary to a lot of Speedway riders and fans alike but when the meetings are about as far apart as they possibly could be in England then you will recognise the task ahead for the likable Geordie. On Thursday Josh will head off for the 7 hour drive down to the Isle of Wight where he will be making his seasonal debut guesting in the National League against Eastbourne. Then he will get the ferry back over and head for Plymouth for another meeting on Friday night again for Isle of Wight. His travelling does not stop their though with a return drip up North and on to Berwick for Newcastle Gems meeting against Berwick Border Raiders awaiting him on Saturday evening. 1000 miles will be covered over the three days and also two days unpaid from work. This all will have to come out of Josh’s pocket with points money and travelling expenses not covering the costs involved. This young promising rider is chasing his dream and this just shows what lengths he will go to for the chance to fulfill it. If any businesses / individuals would like to sponsor Josh we at team nopainnogain would very happily display your logos on our website and of course on Josh race bike etc. This lad is making a huge sacrifice for this trip and it would be brilliant if his fellow Geordies could support him in any way which they could. Good luck Josh and we will all be rooting for you. http://teamnopainnogain.co.uk/ paypal donations - gavin.parr@sky.com
  23. I do wonder myself ;-) not used to wearing shorts and t shirt for meetings lol
  24. The sun is shining and its derby day. Should be a cracker of a meeting in lovely conditions. Redcar are without Jonas B and Newcastle without Rose. Both guests will not weaken the sides at all so its got the makings of a good one. Afterwards Cubs v Gems. Stay behind as your support would be most appreciated.
