He wasn't picked for 2018 because his average was quite high in the eyes of those who were building teams that year. in 2017 he started the year on a 2.38 at reserve, had a great year at Redcar and more than doubled it to 5.08. I think from memory he spent the last month or so in the main body and held his own, but obviously team builders wrongly saw little improvement potential so chose to ignore him. This year he will finish the season on a 6.40 average and could well have the same issues as before. I hope not for his sake.

Rider demands need to change? It's not difficult, If you think a rider is demanding an excessive deal, don't pay it. Either they won't get a contract or if they do then that's the market rate because someone else was prepared to pay it. Blame the person prepared to pay it not the one asking for it and getting it. If they ask for an excessive amount and don't get a job because of it tough on them. Riders demands being excessive is the symptoms not the cause.

Lenny Nagy1 may well be looking at much of this weeks events through some red and white tinted glasses, but believe me when I say Mr McGregor has never has a red and white tint to his decision making and I would imagine his appointments are based as much on geography as anything else. His usual tints of decision making were very much blue and gold in the past imho of course

The problem these days is loyalty is a 2 way thing. The riders have to feel valued rather than disposable if you want loyalty from them, and at the same time riders need to give value to their employers by understanding there is more to it than just turning up riding and running away. They have to put the extra effort into contributing to the "show". Unfortunately too much of the time now each side is trying to get one over the other. something has to change with the way both sides are thinking. Been saying for more years than I can remember if you pay riders as individuals don't be surprised if they act like them. The sport needs to understand that if you reward riders as a team based on team results, you'll probably get a better reaction from them as a team. eg No one lends bikes out these days do they. What a shock, but if the whole team might lose a cash bonus as a result? who's knows what might happen. Both side are clueless sometimes, trying to score cheap points over each other. It's like watching primary school kids in a playground sometimes. Sometimes I thing they both deserve each other.

It almost played out as though one vastly experienced team manager made sure his team had cool heads and didn't do anything stupid, whilst another less experienced "fan" whipped his boys up into making rash decisions, throwing away points and applying no pressure. I don't think Leicester felt under any real pressure till that 5:1 went in in heat 13, yet had Glasgow clawed back 6 points after the first 4/5 heats, the pressure would have been on, then who knows what could have happened. Average track area of a 300m track 10m wide is just under 3500 sqm. A heavy duty tarpaulin (the type they use to cover a cricket square) will cost approx. £5000 for that amount. The fundamental problem with them is fixing them in place, and getting a team of people and you need at least 10 to drop everything, go to the track, put them out, take them away, get covered in dirt doing it, and to do it on top of everything else they do for the speedway club for F##k all already. Sure covers would save some meetings, maybe half if you are lucky. Oh and by the way, if you've ever tried laying a 10m x 10m groundsheet in the wind and the rain and to do that 30 times and secure them, then take them back up without damaging them and dragging them across a shale surface covered in muck. If you'd all like to form an orderly queue to volunteer to do it for free, that would be great, answers on a postcard...………...thought not.

I'd would imagine the track will have been prepared with one eye on the opposition, particularly their #1, problem with that is that generally Charles can make better starts than Bomber so you end up ruining your own #5's chances of entertaining the crowd.
