  1. Oh dear Rosco must have put to many 10p’s in the meter!!!
  2. Depends whether you’ve paid your water rates or you’re going to expect poor old Hans to ride on the Sahara Desert!!!!

Yes, I must stop moaning, which means things will almost certainly remain status quo and riders like Stefan will continue to suffer. However, I was happy to help him out in some small way..

Could you also arrange for Swindon to pay their water rates so that when the Mighty Pirate Ship next sails in it doesn’t go aground and your “track curators” can provide us with an acceptable track surface on which to give you a “Jolly Rogering”... Thank you.

I can’t imagine the majority of Swindon fans are cast out of the same mould as him. If they are, oh dear oh dear!!

Don’t worry, I’ve done the real work and contacted Paul Duff who runs the STING (Scunthorpe Team Investment Group) and arranged to transfer the funds through that in Stefans name. I’ve got your measure now though, it appears you’re one of the worlds talkers and not a doer! FYI. Paul Duff’s contact number is 07595 826832 - just in case you would like to donate. FFI. Stefan returns to the track for the next Scunthorpe meeting.

This address is different to that on their website which is below and a little worrying. So I’ve tried calling them and there is no reply. I’ve left a message for them to call me with their bank details so that I can transfer it electronically. It seems Scunthorpe don’t have a collection fund either as there’s nothing on their website!!!!! Eddie Wright Raceway, Normanby Road, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN15 8QZ

It will be done today but, I feel you have missed an opportunity in gaining a larger collection for Stefan by failing to set up a Just Giving Page and opening up the cause to a much wider community. So instead of getting off your a..e and really doing something you appear to want others to do the work for you!!!

Sorry Starman, when you start talking about horses and jockeys, it has the same effect as when Matt Ford tries to compare speedway with football in his programme notes. I switch off and turn the page, very quickly. Ps. For clarity .Not sponsors riders apparently but, definitely!!!!

More than happy to donate to a Just Giving Page when you’ve got it set up. Please let us have the details ASAP.

First of all let me set you straight. 1/ I am no longer a Poole Speedway Ltd sponsor, so I don’t have any direct access to the club or, it’s officials. 2/ I am one of the few on this forum that are against collections for named riders and have been advocating a “Poole Speedway Riders Hardship Fund” which would be available for a rider who is struggling either through injury or equipment damage. 3/ I would never disclose on an open forum any details of private discussions between two parties. 4/ I’m not sure any club promoter “cares” about “their” riders in the way you appear to believe the poole promotion should. Perhaps as an interim solution, you could make a case to the Swindon REF and, I’m sure poole supporters would contribute to a Just Giving Page if you were to set it up on behalf of Stefan. Please let us know the details if and when you set it up... Thank you.

I didn’t say I’ve made any proposals, just that I am an advocate of a fairer system for all riders that ride in a poole campaign, not just named riders.

From the lack of response to your questions, I would imagine, nothing! And, that is one of the reasons that I’ve been advocating a “Poole Speedway Riders Hardship Fund” that could be made available (in addition to the REF) to any rider who is struggling financially through accidents whilst riding in a poole campaign.

One things for sure Hans will be blaming everything other than himself for his poor performance. A good kick in the pants normally gets him back on form....

Before we get ourselves too exited let’s not forget how badly Bomber was doing in the front end of the season. According to his article in the SS, he was on the verge of retirement. Let’s hope his current form remains or, gets even better now that he’s riding for a decent club with a robust support infrastructure.

Apologies to Starman. TIM = The Invisable Man.

    Poole 2018

Can’t do that because he’s TIM!!!! Not sure about Hans because as I’m no longer one of his sponsors I’ve not been keeping an eye on him. I’ve not heard of him having a headache, toothache or belly ache issues or, for that matter moaning about tracks and “stuff” in general.

I think you’ve completely missed the subtlety of the discussion which for clarity goes like this: 1/Noddy fails to rock up possibly because he got his visa application wrong and picked up a big black mark with the BA. 2/The promoter failed to grasp the situation and allowed the debacle to run for the first 3 months of the season. 3/ Eventually Noddy comes clean. 4/ Promoter thinks “oh sh..e I should have done something about this back in March and instead of falling in love with Noddy, I should have been courting Hansi. 5/Promoter panics and releases a press statement that says “nobody loves me anymore so I’m thinking of jumping the pirate ship”. 6/Rye House goes bust and “floods the market” with a couple of useful riders. 7/Promoter thinks thank god for that, all those nasty poles who I thought loved me so much have let me down and now, I’m my hour of need, 2 Englishmen (who previously I wouldn’t have given the time of day for), have thrown themselves at my feet. 8/Superstar Bomber arrives, crashes his bike and there is much wailing and bucket jangling to fix his bike. But, tough luck to the less fortunate rider who crashed earlier in the season broke his bones. 9/ Discussion on forum about the fairness of how the club supports all riders (or not). 10/Comparison between 2017 and 2018 riders crash costs and why one rider gets money and other doesn’t. 11/And then to the crux, if Noddy had played with a straight bat, Hans would have been in the team and Bomber wouldn’t have crashed because there wouldn’t have been a slot available. The essence of my posts on this subject is, we should be a club that looks after all riders signed up for a campaign. We should be a fair club and at the present it appears we only look after those whose faces fit....

He didn’t call in with as many “sickies” as Holder did in his last year with us either. “I feel sick, I’ve got a headache, I’ve got toothache” to name just a few. Don’t recall him playing the same tricks with Torun or on GP weekends!!! Just an observation.
  23. Holder was always going to be the weak link and it should have been spotted on the P&P day when the promoter sheepishly announced there was a problem. Should have priced him out of the UK market at circa £50k price tag and waved him on his way. As it happens, it appears the Border Control Agency have done us a favour.
