Although I'm not in the loop anymore what you say may have been the case last season but I doubt that's the case this year... from the riders I speak to and not just those at the club... they get paid... and on time... the fear factor with them is that if they don't get paid for a period (which could happen) and then the club goes pop and because quite a few have been in that predicament in the past with other clubs folding its disastrous for them... and they dont want to take the risk... Over the past few years the club's reputation with riders has been trashed and Grant inherited that... Plymouth were in the same boat a few years back but they have shaken that off now... Grant needs to do the same and build the confidence with the riders so the club becomes a team that riders actually want to come to and ride for... It can be done but I'm not sure Grant has the cash or the people skills to pull it round... hope I'm proved wrong and he can get things on an even keel but it will take some doing...and may need a change of tac with different personnel and management skills being deployed... Tero has a Sunday team in Poland but gets over here and if that is an issue like I stated above it might be time to stretch the budget a bit and start paying a bit over the odds making a move to Newcastle financially attractive to these guys or you just stay in the rut... and put up with what you have... Do you try and scramble up the slippery slope or just give in and slide to the bottom.... like the football team with Ashley and Steve Bruce which was going nowhere fast with a stinking reputation it might be time to change direction and I mean radical change not faffing round the edges to try and pull the thing round... The comeback may not be to the North of England... who knows it's just a thought... The point is more that Berwick are doing what is deemed to be impossible by signing riders and Newcastle have spoken to EVERYONE allegedly... so ether the ones who they are speaking to are genuinly unavailable or they don't fancy coming to a struggling team or they aren't being offered enough to come... but like the X Files the truth is out there... if they want to share it... The other thing against Newcastle and like the football team (possibly for differing reasons) there will now be a premium to pay to get riders here (anyone who would be an improvement that is) and the question is (unlike the football team) are the funds there and available to make a move to the Diamonds look attractive... The costs are going up on a weekly basis due to the rise in the cost of living but if you are prepared to do a lot of the work yourself you are now looking at around 150k to set out a basic track and 100k to illuminate the spot... or you can pay a construction company double that for a basic set up or 250 million or more for something like the millennium stadium... I worked with guys who worked on the Old Trafford refurbishment and that was 285 million However it all depends on what you want... you can get a Nissan Almera for 15k or a 370z for 75k so basic and cheap or all bells and whistles... but they both get you from a to b... The land is the same: you could lease it off the Authouity or the land owner or buy it off them from a grand an acre to a million quid an acre and anywhere in between depending on where it is but it's all just pie in the sky... When you win the Euro Lottery would be the best time to look at things... give me a shout then and I will help you spend it... Oh and Newcastle do not own any of the stadium they rent... Regards THJ

Both sides of the road where the A1 met the A19 were available at the time... and we had put an interest in against one of them but when the Facebook release went out with.... it's my club and I am not leaving Brough... amongst others... and that was after all the noise about wanting away from Brough... it was never followed through... those proposals were well and truely wizzed on from a great height... No buddy I don't unfortunately... I think all that goodwill has been lost and the momentum that was gained out of the adversity that was last season has totally gone down the pan... Grant should have rode that wave of support instead of trying to do the King Canute routine and hold back the tide... I still think he is the best man to run the club and one of the few who could make it pay... or at least make a profit where all else failed... he just needs his "passion" reined in a bit and channelled into the right direction... However he wants to do it his way and made that quite clear... (like a spoilt kid who is running the place into the ground just like the previous man who he so despises) therefore he needs to get on with it and good luck to him... it will either sink or swim but I dont think it is a lost cause yet... but is heading that way fast... Sorry to disagree Steve but there were three viable sites and one deffinite front runner at Seaton Burn and with support from the Local Authouity however ya man objected to one of the people who was prepared to put money in and his huberous got the better of him (and just for Mala... Huberous means arrogance and excessive pride) Pride comes before a fall and he was offered all the help and support he could have wanted but Billy Big Balls wanted to do it all himself... so now he's reaping the rewards... Two humpings in following weekends how embarrassing is that and Leicester put Edwards in at the end to give them a chance otherwise it would have been 26 - 64. Furthermore riders don't want to come to Newcastle because they talk to each other and there is an impression that they don't get paid on time and also that the club isn't on a firm footing and is continually on the brink of collapse with the ramifications of that being they "don't get paid" if the clud goes pop and I know that's not ya man's fault "per se" but he ain't doing anything much to change perceptions... No John everything I put out for Newcastle Diamonds in the past came from the Promotion which was the same at Workington and still is for that matter... Steve Park has been accused of being a mouthpiece for the club but Steve is the same he only deals in facts and puts out what the club are posting on other forums to keep fans informed as to what is going on at the club... Whatever I stick on here you can take to the bank because all I gave was the Promotions response to rumour and innuendo... usually from chancers like your good self who if they didn't know what was going on they were more than happy to make something up Regards THJ

Well first off getting someone who can communicate would be good for a start... someone who isn't illiterate and can string a sentence together without using three fluffs and a chuff... someone who has a rudimentary knowledge of English... in the written word... Then tell the truth... you know? Have someone tell it how it is from the club's side... even if the truth is brutal get it out there and quash all these rumours once and for all... All the shenanigans and machinations that rumble on in the background just damage the club... what's the truth? Set the record straight? WAFJ... what I was suggesting was to try and strengthen the team and push Max and James into reserve to... as @bigred correctly pointed out... give a couple of strong reserves that would give the team a fighting chance.... only "Johnny English Reborn" would bring in another rider who has previously stated publicity his dislike for Brough... the names I suggested were credible options who were potentially available.... however what's going on beggars belief... Sad to say but I am not missing it and find my alternative Sunday routine is definitely more pleasurable than watching my team getting pumped by 60 plus points at home.... Johnny English Reborn needs a reality check... he had the opportunity to take the club forward but his hubris got the better of him... You shoukd have come over and said hello... the guys were having a bit of a fight on wid the fence as it had been over tensioned... but like a council job there were 5 of us watching 2 grafting... I was worn out watching all the effort going in... We were in the Labour Ward in Maryport watching the GP and said the same... Red first we thought and Yellow at a push... but he must have fancied his chances on the White for a bit of an outside run but not the Yellow... never mind The Maryport Marauder done brilliantly and didn't let anyone down... I will have a look at that back fence tomorrow and see what the craic is... the Rottweilers must have been asleep... or just had their dinners... We had considered electrifying that back fence until the local travellers pinched all the cable and transformers... looks like we will have to find a back up plan... Regards THJ

You must have been early cos I was there from about 2 ish til after half 4 and I will be there tomorrow slowing the job up again... Pleased you liked the look of the track and watching that GP in Germany tonight (didn't Dan do well) I could definitely see some similarities between the tracks in size and shape... except ours is better... cos it's in Cumbria UK and not Johnnie Foreigner land... Brexit did creep up.on us... due to pure arrogance... the little Englanders who thought Britain was more important than it was and felt they would not be expected to follow the rules anymore in a rules based society were living in cloud cuckoo land... The forward planning was that everyone was sold the idea that GREAT Britain will be able to do what it wants once we broke from Europe... We are TCN's now as far as Europe is concerned... we lost our empire after the second world war and as much as I was not a fan of the European experiment I knew fully how hard it would be to extricate and untangle ourselves from the project... We are where we are and I'm happy to abide by the vote but we can't keep moaning on about how it was or how it should be... we are in this hole now and just have to make a fist of it... Europe wont be doing us any favours for a long time to come... certainly more than one generation... Just wait until Northern Ireland leave us and Scotland break away... it won't be quite Ukraine but there will be financial blood letting... however on the upside when Scotland do go independent at least there will be 14 more riders available for English clubs...
