Wouldn’t Bates get an 8% reduction due to him missing a season thru injury?

    Glasgow 2019 Onwards

Wouldn’t think Cook will be back after the press release stating the club is losing a six figure sum every year, while I think he’s fantastic he must also be one of the highest paid riders in the league. maybe time to go with our assets such as Summers, Lunna, Palovaara etc to help save loan fees

    AGM November 2018

So many different opinions with regards to saving our sport in the speedway star last week, you have a riders point of view and an ex rider with different thoughts on cost, C Harris has been a great servant to British speedway but if he can’t make it pay without doubling up then it’s time to find other employment, it seems riders wages have gone through the roof in recent years and they have two teams to race for in Britain , years a go the riders raced one league and had a job outside speedway, now you have kids leaving school wanting to be a professional speedway rider as there only employment. The riders see the crowds on the terraces and they know the wages there on don’t match what comes through the turnstiles anymore but if they get offered silly money then who can blame them for taking it. If clubs are trying to find new supporters out there why do you need the top earners you can’t afford? New fans won’t know the difference between Doyle or a reserve in the top league or Cook and a reserve in the middle tier as long as the racing is exciting! doubling up needs to be phased out over 3/5 years as we can’t run at present without it, but it has to go eventually The sport will never move forward as long as promoters pay wages they can’t afford but there all trying to put one over each other and get there man , so many good ideas from supporters but will the promoters listen or can they afford to try them? Is the sport value for money? Is it a great evening out? Two key points that need to be considered, cause if the answer to the two questions above is no, then no matter what changes are made next week it won’t make any difference .

    Workington 2018 .

Well done Workington, let’s hope some much needed sponsorship comes your way and you can defend your title in 2019. would be a travesty for the club to fold but the owner needs help.

    Glasgow 2018

Not worth a punt on a 7.71? I think he will be in the promotions thoughts for 2019

    Glasgow 2018

Well yous could certainly do with the cash lol, on a more serious note the Edinburgh team including bonus points is over a 50 point average combined, is it any wonder clubs are losing money, a 50 point plus team and the crowds are not up from previous years, why?

    Glasgow 2018

I think it’s more to do with there being the same 11 teams in the Championship compared to 7/8 coming to the tapes next season. the Championship is now too close to the Premiership and it has riders earning big money that clubs simply can’t afford anymore. its no secret that more than half lost serious money again in 2018, I’m not sure it has been diluted as the points limit was 42.50 a few years back and that included bonus points, now it’s 42.50 without bonus points, which in some teams cases adds up to over 45 points, and it still didn’t bring in more crowds. It’s the product although I do agree regular racing would certainly help.

    Glasgow 2018

This years team had improvements from 4 riders, Vissing,Sarjeant,Thomas and Kerr before he got injured, the problem was Harris and Starke lost over 1.5 between them and Worrall was down about a point before he left for Edinburgh. With a lower points limit being the rumour for next season Cook would take up a chunk of points but he does do the business in the big races! A new Aussie or American might be the way to go to get a better balance plus it’s something different for the fans to look forward to
  10. So our season ends at the semi final stage again, I always say it’s better to involved in them rather than finishes 5th or 6th. great effort down at Workington on Sunday night when you consider how well they have been riding at home recently, Looks like a Workington v Lakeside final to me, with a very well ballenced side against a fairly top heavy team with 3 big hitters in Lawson, Morris and Ellis. Most will point to Cook missing though Wells was very good in both meetings, where as I believe Stewart scored more than what Greaves would have over the two meetings so it may have balanced itself out. Roll on 2019, I believe this could be a difficult winter for clubs so let’s see what the next few weeks bring and also what league we will see the Tigers in when the tapes go up in Spring.
  11. Tigers are different gravy pal lol
  12. We have one foot in the final, I know Workington turned over Edinburgh after being 28 points down but I think the Tigers will hold on tonight.
  13. It’s the same up here, constant rain since this morning and forecast has rain tomorrow morning before brightening up at lunchtime.
  14. Now that it’s confirmed for both meetings to be on Sunday let’s hope the weather is kind and both clubs get big turnouts as that’s the whole point of reaching the play offs. think the Tigers could sneak it but ideally need at least a ten point win in the home leg. Is Ricky Wells doing both meetings?
  15. Met office has no rain from 6pm onwards for Glasgow tomorrow
  16. Well done Poole, Kings Lynns injuries to Iversen and Palm Toft were just too much to cover by guests on the night .
  17. Water right into the base, it’s going to be grippy lol
  18. Forecast for Friday and Saturday looks terrible, unfortunately that’s what happens when we get into October, and with Workington looking like they will be racing against alternative opposition the following weekend when would the fixtures take place? Glasgow can race any night but don’t believe Workington have the same luxury do they? With Cook sitting in a studio on BT sports on Saturday night due to his injury it’s a shame the teams didn’t race last weekend or at least the Workington leg as I know Sunday up here was wet most of the day .
  19. Shame for Palm Toft, his scoring power at reserve around Kings Lynn has been sensational of late.

    Workington 2018 .

Your last paragraph is spot on, Unfortunately we have at least three clubs in the championship who maybe not make it to the tapes next season with the worrying news that’s now coming out of Redcar and Peterborough, could the championship been down to single figures come 2019 ? Every year we hear that this is the most important agm, I think that ship has sailed and clubs are now sinking!
  21. Track is poor, big final and as yet no outside passing line. It looks to be all about the result and zero entertainment

    Worrying Times at Redcar

Let’s hope not, unfortunately the sport can’t continue to fool itself any longer that the crowd levels attending speedway can balance the books come the end of the season. I don’t believe for a minute that Redcar are the only club who have a question mark as to whether they will run in 2019, and I hope that common ground is reached for all three leagues so that all clubs can continue, we need an affordable package but what that is nobody knows , I believe we have now arrived at reality for many clubs across the UK, for some maybe too late!
  24. Got to give credit to the Poole team manager, how many people thought Grajczonek would partner Klindt in heat 15, I certainly did, but to put Harris in was a big call in front of his captain. Great tv and best of luck to both teams in the final.
