  1. 2 hours ago, Arch Stanton said:

I’d say it’s almost impossible to keep both of them. They started this year on a combined average of 18.32 due to Emil’s assessed 8.00. And to fit both in this year we had to use Hume at 6 on an average that was reduced by 25% because of the first year as a non rising star rule which we won’t benefit from next year.

Doyle and Emil are currently on a combined GSA of 19.28, practically a point more than they started this year.

If the same team building rules apply next year as this and it’s clearly all up in the air at the minute, then I’d say it’s pretty much impossible to build a title winning team unless you can get really really lucky with a couple of low averaged ringers.

If Emil decides to come back next year, then it looks like a tough decision will have to be made by Louis (and Nicholls ).

but if it is the same as this year and you want to keep both Doyle and Emil then this would be my option

    1. E, Sayfutdinov - 9.91
    2. Z. Cook 4.84
    3. N. Klindt 6.50/ A. Ellis 6.00
    4. B. Cook 5.09
    5. J. Doyle 9.37
    6. J. Jenkins 3.22/ D. Hume 3.64
    7. D. Thompson R/S

  2. I've thought about this too and if i were the BSPL I'd encourage it, for a live Eurosport meeting.

The level of publicity it would attract in the press and mainstream tv would be like nothing ever seen before for the sport

And as the saying goes there's no such thing as bad publicity

  3. I think you need to go back to the drawing board, work with Denmark & Sweden, and in essence mainly look to run on the best race night for you, build a side based on your home night, yes guests and R/R are an issue in Speedway but its not the main evil when you are fighting against survival.

Going back to my earlier post, you should have either one league or a regionalised league, if regionalised North/South to form a little credibility when using guests you should only be able to use one from the other region.

North - Belle Vue, Berwick, Workington, Sheffield, Scunthorpe, Glasgow, Redcar
South - Leicester, Oxford, Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Poole, Plymouth, Birmingham

You then split the sides, so you are basically combining a First Team with a Reserve team.

Numbers 1-4 are main body riders (riders 1 & 3 are heat leaders), riders 5-7 are your reserve team with no.5 being a senior reserve, 6 & 7 are junior reserves

    You get 2 Jnr x reserve races so 6 & 7 vs 6 & 7
each jnr then gets a programmed race with their senior reserve at no.5

The Snr Reserve then gets a programmed ride with riders 2 & 4

Riders 1 - 4 then get a programmed ride riding with each other, with 1 & 3 (heat leaders getting 2 x programmed rides together)

That would make up a 13 Heat Formulae

riders 1-5 getting 4 programmed rides, riders 6-7 getting 3 programmed rides

Individual Junior Championship then takes place in the "2nd Half of Meetings"

all 4 Jnr reserves race off in an individual championship over 4 heats so each rider gets a ride at each gate, 4 rides on the trot yes BUT you could have a 20 minute allocated time barring any stoppages to get the 4 heats run.

This would/could/should make it cheaper for teams as they essentially will have 3 juniors/amateur/semi pro riders in the side to pay across 3 programmed rides, they then get their individual championship for additional track time, maybe overall junior champion gets a bike supplied by BSPL at the end of the season.

Teams then have 4 main body riders to pay all taking 4 programmed rides plus 4 rides for a Senior Reserve who is still semi-pro level.

I made a list and you could get all 14 sides made up of current riders competing at Championship and National league level plus a few in the top flight.

This allows some established riders in the side plus all sides will see the development of younger riders coming through who can progress from Jnr level to Snr Reserve level then into the main body.

    A few team examples

    Berwick
    1. Chris Harris
    2. Leon Flint
    3. Craig Cook
    4. Kye Thomson
    SNR. Connor Coles
    JNR. Jamie Halder
    JNR. Luke Harrison

    Sheffield
    1. Adam Ellis
    2. Connor Mountain
    3. Josh Pickering
    4. Dan Gilkes
    SNR. Nathan Ablitt
    JNR. Tom Woolley
    JNR. Arran Butcher

    Poole
    1. Richard Lawson
    2. Zach Cook
    3. Ben Cook
    4. Anders Rowe
    SNR. Lee Complin
    JNR. Dayle Wood
    JNR. Tom Spencer

    Plymouth
    1. Luke Becker
    2. Broc Nicol
    3. Ben Barker
    4. Hans Andersen
    SNR. Alfie Bowtell
    JNR. Danny Phillips
    JNr. Kelsey Dugard

  4. with the Play-Offs gone they need to start thinking about getting Emil and Jason to get their averages down for next season

Jason currently on 9.44 so surely that could get down to around 8.5 if he has a few shockers,  Emil is currently on 9.80 so if he has a few gremlins too the club should be looknig to get that down to a sub 9 average surely, let the other rides do their own thing

If the 2024 regs are the same 39 point limit with an R/S then you could build

    1, Sayfutdinov 9.00
    2, Z. Cook 4.84
    3, Woffinden 7.03
    4, B. Cook 5.17
    5, Doyle 8.50
    6, Rew 4.00
    7, Thompson R/S

Could possibly switch Woffinden for Holder

  5. I mentioned this on another thread but got shot down, all issues with Speedway can't be fixed during one winter....

I've suggested one league or a north/south split but you run two teams within one

Top 4 are your main body riders with no.1 & no. 4 being the only heat leaders in the side

No.5 is a senior reserve rider, with no.6 and 7 being reserves

2 x reserve races featuring 6 & 7, they get a ride each with the no.5 so only 3 programmed rides

The senior reserve at no.5 rides with 2 & 3 in a heat so get 4 programmed rides

The top 4 all race against each other and with two nominated heats you get 14 overall heats of racing, the top 4 will likely get 5 rides each

teams build sides mainly for who can race on their best race night as whats important is to get fans to attend the home meetings

you may need guests away if you have a rider in Poland and its a weekend track

  6. I dont think Dan is the overall issue, maybe when Kemp & Rowe were available fans could argue there were possibly better out there

I think the issue is one or two riders within the main body, Danyon is doing well at 6, he's hardly ever going to score 10+ consistantly from reserve maybe now and again, only really Sheffield and Belle Vue that has that power at reserve

Rew is very inconsistent on thursday didn't have a good first ride but as the meeting went on was competitve just need to get him going from the start, im sure he will do well

Riss is a worry just based on his illness and not sure if he's 100% fit should/would/could have scored more on thursday if he hadn't crashed out etc.

I think the only change anyone could see would be Batch for Riss, riding at 3 or 4 with King at home and maybe at 2 away from home would make ipswich stronger

  7. Some things are worth the money and you'll likely overpay, just look at people buying football clubs or players, Arsenal signing Rice for £100m if it doesn't work out someone would pay £60m still so he holds some form of value if he is exceptional then in 4 or 5 years time maybe someone will bid £200m as at some point tranfers fees will go even more crazy

With speedway nobody will over pay for a club because there is no real way of generating income to excessive levels, limited tv money and no prize money, the value is minimal, only worth handing cash over if they get track equipment included

On a different note spoke to a customer on the phone yesterday from Leicester, mentioned I'm going up there for the speedway at the end of the month

His reply was speedway, not sure where that is but we have plenty of racing up here such as Donington Park lol

  8. I think MT will come in at the end of the season with the announcement of a stay of execution for an additional 12 months at the showground with a view of a new stadium in 2025

Chris Holder still has his race suit, and MT will add Woffy to the side and build from that

For now its just hope that will get fans to the end of the season, but it will be worth it in the long term

  9. The press release is aimed at promoting fear among speedway fans and Lynn fans stating money problems i.e. over budget so i.e. we need all fans to attend to see us through the season

And but we will want to come to the tapes in 2024 i.e. give us your money and we'll give you hope

Buster is seeking special dispensation to allow for doubling IN not down or up but doubling IN the same division and nights either of his sides is not racing, he wants to be able to select a septet of the two

The reality tho is he needs to bin Laguta due to Artems polish club not allowing him to race in the UK, and just use Iversen as a permanent guest for the remainder of the season

Try and offload the club to someone who may keep lynn in a top flight championship or buster get someone in to help have a go at championship level
