    Glasgow v Redcar CL 1/7/22 @19.30

Would that be the same Anders Rowe that has been ‘dropped’ by other clubs too and not because of his scoring ? Love keyboard warriors who jump on the keyboard as soon as it’s isn’t going how it was hoped. There was already a shortage of riders when Roynon was signed. If everyone was riding to their ability then Roynon would only need to score his previous average and the club would be fine, but their not , so it isn’t but then that’s how it goes sometimes, teams rarely perform to the pre season hype, as Glasgow fans will testify. hoped.

    Northern Junior League 2022

All results go to the league co-ordinator who deals with everything NJL related including dealing with the S/Star who don’t always publish what they are sent as it’s all space dependent. It takes them 3-4 weeks to publish amateur meeting results as they print them when they have space , not immediately after the event.

    Championship Riders Final

That simply cannot be applied as some tracks cannot cope with ‘big meetings ‘ due to lack of pit space, car parking and limited capacity crowd levels.

    Championship Riders Final

At current fuel rates it will cost me £120-£130 in fuel alone to travel to Poole, add entrance fee, programme, food and drink for the full day, evening and then consider that the 680 mile round trip may be done safer with an overnight stop so add a hotel / BnB….we are looking at £200 plus. Thats why a lot of northern based fans may not be willing to attend Poole for this meeting. Having said that I’m sure they will get a good crowd with just the locals anyway and it will still make a profit, without the travelling supporters, that’s what matters the people running a business, so it will be considered a success.

    Killing the sport

Nothing the BSPL can do about it, it’s the riders choice.

    Glasgow 2022

As speedway is primarily run on shale tracks running indoors is not an option, dust being the main issue, it covers everything! The clean up costs would be phenomenal at any scale. If you have been to Cardiff ? which is considered a small track then the size of the building required would be huge to accommodate not only a crowd but health and safety regulations. Anybody who has witnessed ‘ indoor speedway ‘ in the past, be that Telford, the NEC or elsewhere , will tell you it’s isn’t speedway as we know it, it’s gimmick speedway and not for the connoisseur’s.

  11. As Flat track events are run at a lot of current speedway tracks who hire out their stadium to the organisers what’s your point ? The IOW make ‘ it work ‘ on a very small scale, riders pay to ride, they get a very small paying crowd, so it works on a very small and occasional scale, it’s not a full time business. Good on them for doing it but it doesn’t baffle anybody.

    Northern Junior League 2022

Hopefully the league coordinator will post something either here or in the Star at some point , probably en mass to save drip feeding the odd result.
  13. If your place of employment is not a happy one and your not getting ‘ your rewards ‘ then you don’t perform to your best or throw a ‘ sickie ‘ and don’t turn up. The track was a vast improvement but it did appear to catch out the home riders who , as could be witnessed , were very low on morale for good reason ( the rumour you spoke of ? ). No one wants to see it close but the problems are obvious.
  14. According to the promoters rant in the pits for all to hear…….NOW!

    27/28 May - Scunny v Leicester KOC

Not only do you need a paramedic, you need an ‘ equipped’ paramedic with appropriate medically equipped transport, so one ‘ from the crowd ‘ is hardly going to be suitable.
  17. ‘ Updates ‘ is a reflection of one persons opinion, and usually slightly biased. Having been at that meeting those comments make it sound a lot more exciting than it actually was but rarely do you see ‘ home rider knows where to ride, away rider clearly doesn’t, makes another mistake and gets passed ‘. but each to their own.

    Odsal

With one fixture a month ?….. I do hope it survives in its current form but the hole of speedway needs a shake up from the top down.
  19. Fortythirtyeight

    Odsal

Forget Odsal but Workington will be back but at which level ? Would make sense to start NDL ( if it still exists in 2023 ) whilst they build up the facilities , small steps at a time.
  20. Not unless the ‘ lesser rider ‘ has scored enough points in his programmed rides to make him a ‘ qualified rider ‘ , in which case I doubt he would be classed as a ‘ lesser rider ‘. Is that clear ?
  21. Fortythirtyeight

    Northern Junior League 2022

The rule is that if a rider has a 3 point or below average in the NDL at the start of this season then he can ride in the NJL, if it is above that then his points don’t count. Therefore Ace’s 9 points count as he is new to the NDL, Bens points did not as he averaged above 4 last season. I believe both Berwick and Edinburgh will be using riders who’s points will not count. This will be because of a shortage of 500 cc riders which will be a major issue for the whole sport soon.

    Berwick v Redcar Saturday 14/05/22 7pm

Not the greatest of spectacles as far as the racing goes and the Bears could be counted as a touch fortunate to race against a five man side but overall I think they deserved the win. The Bandits riders did seem a little disconcerted with the track which may have been drier than they expected meaning only three ‘ overtakes ‘ all meeting and two of them by the Bears ( Andersen and Jenkins ). The over worked Bandits battled hard right through till the end and Morris’s last race efforts denied the Bears the extra point. All the Bandits had the odd poor ride due to missing the gate but the main body scored well and kept it close throughout. Complin a little wild but entertaining although Roynon may not agree. Bickley hot and cold but old man Pijper impressed. Bears we’re reasonably solid , heat leaders , particularly Riss, did their job, Andersen rode as was expected at Berwick , Roynon did his role and the reserves were competitive . Berwick understandably had plenty of track breaks to give their riders breathing space but there was also medical treatment handed out to both Etheridge and Roynon and the riders bikes were being weighed before and during the meeting by officials so yes, it did takes its toll. Berwick is still a club to be admired the way it’s run, on a budget but professionally and with very friendly staff and supporters. Always an enjoyable club to visit .
  24. In 2018 Godfrey was Vice Chairman, so no he was not in charge and no there was no such protocol of not interfering with each other’s affairs. Lakeside, as I have pointed out on many occasions, we’re never ever granted Fridays as their PRIMARY race night for just that reason, not enough riders would be available. the ‘ MC’ do not call matches off because of lack of guests, that is a club matter. Otherwise, your not far off.

It is now being streamed by the club itself. Those previously involved in the club streaming have now moved onto to BSN.
