23 hours ago, Neila said:Who has stated they are not running any team ?? Andrew bain said after the Kent meeting they have/are in talks/meetings with bspa with regards to next season
In talks, yes as the Championship , or NDL if there is one , needs Workington but he has stated quite openly at practice sessions and meetings he is troubled by the costs of team racing and has said it on several occasions that he would just run practice sessions as they make a good profit and possibly some open meetings to put funds back into the account as crowds dwindled towards the end of the season.
Hopefully he has changed his mind . After all the time, effort and funds he has put in he is entitled to do what he thinks is best, but upping his wage bill by ten times and not matching that with increasing crowd numbers has got to be a factor.

Why isn't some of it being used to pay towards Clubs running Qualifying Meetings for each Leagues Riders Championships so every rider named in a 1-7 can Qualify for the Final and make it meaningful?
Everyone blames Godfrey and Co for everything yet the "Top Six " takes all the money and splashes it on big names looking for top up wages who actually don't add to the gate numbers?
The TV money goes to the clubs that feature on TV, that’s simple enough. The SCB/ BSPL have no interest in the youth or they wouldn’t have withdrawn the funding in the first place.
Godfrey should shoulder SOME of the blame, he presides over the whole shambles after all.

Interesting that neither Poole or Scunthorpe have NDL teams and the memory of how the NDL were treated when IOW were forced out of BSPL sanctioned racing and went under the NORA banner.
This is starting to look like a situation where the NDL could be dropped which means IOW could be joined by a number of other clubs. If that happens it will the exact opposite to what BSPL would want which just shows how good they are at guiding the sport in the right direction and also proves why the sport is in such a mess.
So how does NORA league with IOW, Kent, Plymouth, Mildenhall and Workington sound for a starting point?
Hardly cost effective for Workington to run in that league with the travel costs involved and he has already stated he’s not looking to run ANY team next season, however strange that may seem.

Then you need to go to spec savers as they go out the same amount of times every meeting unless requested.
We all know who and what happens at Scunthorpe and you forgot centre green announcer slash ref berator and part time sit in track protestor.

Anyone can request it
No, The CoC is just the referees assistant and pits coordinator, he/she has no power to require a track grade, he/ she would merely pass any requests to the ref.

Didn't you have a meeting early season due to the track being too soft & spongy(weather related).
Anybody, rider, team or managers can REQUEST a track grade, it’s upto the Ref if he allows it.

Tractors did their 26 laps up to heat 13, spoiling the flow of the meeting as usual at the STMP. Well done Scorpions you did us proud, just the Pirates left to beat to finish the season off in style- A big ask but who knows over 30 heats?
Tractors only went out at Scunthorpe riders requests but let’s not spoil the flow of a meeting to keep you happy and your riders unhappy.
Best team won, good luck at Poole.

1 hour ago, iainb said:Yes, I totally get what you're saying and to some extent agree but the likes of Bailey for example may have earn't more sat on his arse yesterday at Wroclaw than he would riding at Oxford... but he's only getting that opportunity because of his scoring in Britain. If he wants to commit to Poland, he should commit to Poland and go out there to sit on his arse every week.
British Speedway needs to protect its asset base, if that means central contracts or something along those lines then so be it. You can't have the likes of Redcar accepting or being forced into riding a play off fixture with half their team missing when the whole point of the league system is to build to some kind of grand finale.
The BSPL and Oxford knew Redcars predicament regarding lack of riders and still made them accept the date. You can’t blame riders, who are self employed, going where they get the best wage. The BSPL didn’t think of ‘protecting its asset base ‘ when it gave Poland the green light on prioritising race dates did it ?

Interesting….two guests and R/R in a junior 4 rider team, just like the pro leagues!

1 hour ago, iainb said:That's what I'm saying about these riders needing to make their mind up which side their bread is buttered... a guaranteed season in Britain with however many meetings that entails or the chance of a shot in Poland? At the moment the riders want to have their cake and eat it. Don't get me wrong I can totally understand why they do it as there are many clubs in the UK that show zero loyalty to riders, Leicester and then there are those that probably show too much, Edinburgh, Dayle Wood! So there is no "guarantee" of say 30 meetings a season in the UK and this is where it all falls down.
If Bailey was offered a season contract at the start of the year guaranteeing him a team place for the whole year as long as he raced in ALL fixtures, no matter when they were arranged for, he may be more inclined to turn down the Polish carrot. And until that happens, we're always going to have incidents like this and the fans that have followed a club all year all of a sudden get sh@t on come pay off time
But Bailey wasn’t….he was only signed after Shane’s declared he wasn’t going to be fit and he had already got a Polish contract before his deal with Redcar.
The problem here is not the riders, it’s the BSPL’s handing of the hole play off situation , fixtures and the ill thought out rules

Whilst that is rather a strange , and worrying ,thing to wait for, isn’t that why riders get tested ?…..to prevent such a thing from happening .

You are going to be shocked then,,, UK average per point for a heat leader 80- 120…..if they aren’t in a guarantee….
.Poland …set fees in the thousands for turning up!

13 hours ago, Wee Eck said:Actually, I think having the likes of Tarasenko in this country is the complete opposite of the sport being “on its arse”
His arrival in the Championship has opened up the race for the play offs. And I doubt he’s more expensive than, say, Schlein so not much cash needed splashed.
Whilst it is a great signing for the championship there is the down side of what he is actuality being paid , and yes it’s a phenomenal sum for a ‘five pointer’ and the most any championship rider is currently being paid. It may only be for half a dozen matches but you can imagine what riders wage demands will be for next season.
Trying to buy a trophy ? But then, if you’ve got it, flaunt it !

Wasn't the Redcar v Glasgow fixture rescheduled over 4 weeks ago?
Well , Bellend….the clue there is word ‘ rescheduled’…..meaning a rearranged fixture so no priority.

No, no tyres provided by BSPL for semi etc , 1tyre per rider at the beginning , end of.

No disrespect at all, the club had a trophy on hand for the photos and that was it.

Because they weren’t issued tyres for the semi’s ….

A few quid but the BSPL didn’t even bring a trophy, they forgot , the club had to produce one from behind the bar.

Let's see if they can beat the record of 20 minutes to change a tyre even though they currently know 5 of the 6 riders involved in the semis & final
As no tyres were changed during the meeting you will have find something else to moan about.

NDL Future
in Speedway News and Discussions

That’s not going to happen for a number of reasons.
The club will have double their ‘running bills’, staff, electric bills etc when the ‘2nd team’ may only attract a very small crowd so it’s a big financial loser. The NDL struggled to find enough riders of a reasonable standard this year so if there were more than 6-8 teams wanted to field a side it would be of a low standard, possibly MDL/ NJL standard, that won’t attract a crowd. If you try this with a 5 rider team, how many heats ? How many rides per rider ? What happens when the inevitable junior gets withdrawn after an injury leaving only 4 ?
Aussies and Yanks aren’t going to be attracted by a ‘junior’ league.
The sport struggled to complete its fixtures this year with the small number of clubs so it’s not the blank weeks that’s an issue, it’s the way the fixtures are planned , starting too early, finishing too late as October is no longer Speedway friendly.
