It amazes me that the Oxford SCUMBAGS (sorry I mean promotion) tapped up a Redcar asset much to the Bears detriment and there was absolutely no on track sanction given to them.

Think you need to grow up. The Oxford promotion are far from that ridiculous comment and are showing the way forward in very difficult times for the sport.
Tapping up ? It happens all the time, in every sport and more so in speedway. Who’s going to sanction anybody when it’s done by absolutely all of them from the top down, it always has done since the sport started.

  2. Oxford thoroughly deserved their win , good solid points scoring throughout as opposed to the Bears but not a very entertaining meeting which was very disappointing as the track shouldn’t be prepared to stop the opposition , which was clearly the tactic by only watering the last six feet by the fence despite it being as dusty as a nomads pockets.  Track ‘ grading ‘ took an age due to using the same driver/ promoter to use both vehicles then add in an interval , it did drag on after the late start.

Still, an impressive home win and a very , very good crowd, Oxford are a certain play off team and Atkins and Jenkins very impressive British youngsters.

The Scorpions were good value and deserved the bonus point , as for Jake shedding a chain ? Sorry he was brought off by Connor Mountain on bend 1 .

I follow Scunthorpe and one word to describe Charles Wrights performance last night.     * Sensational

I never mentioned Jake, a chain, or Scunthorpe , but they did deserve the point, oh….and Jake DID shed a chain…..in a different race !

But you were right on ONE thing……Wright was sensational.

Agree with most of what everyone has said so far, last week clearly the exception to the rule against a poor Edinburgh side and when Pickering was injured in the tie at Berwick it was always going to be a home win

Like has been said anyone who had half an idea about speedway knew that the Berwick team was built terribly with Coles the exception to the rule again as he is proving to easily be the best 2 pointer in the league so far

Leon needs a break from Berwick to get up to a higher level as he really does struggle away from home and only ever seems to beat his teammates or other teams reserves, however he is fantastic at home

With a double header next week and the price being extortionate at the best of times for the majority of the fan base eg concessions I can see it being a very poor crowd next week, half of the fans on the back straight last night were from Redcar

Berwick fans have been taken for mugs for over a decade now, has patience finally run out from one of the loyalest fan bases in speedway?

Prices….quite a few people , probably away supporters, last night were frustrated as no card payments on the gate and had to ask friends for funds.

Thought scunny had a few bits of bad luck last night which really helped our cause (bears).

Jake Allen's bike throwing a chain when in a clear second place was one....

Our main concern is the form of our second strings and jake mulford at number seven.

As yearbyred says above jake has yet to score a point at home and doesn't look capable either at the moment unless somebody falls or bike breaks down. He gated in the reserve race but looked tentative and unsure and was passed easily.

Danyon Hume also is struggling badly and is currently averaging two points less than his starting average and was replaced by Jason Edwards in one of his heats.

Connor Bailey is getting there I think and needs to be given more time. But danyon and jakes form is a major worry.

Just aswell our heat leaders are sensational at present they need to be.

Just my honest observations. It doesn't help when you go nearly a month between home fixtures....discuss

Three new riders trying to get used to a knew home track, let’s give them a bit of time. The away match at Birmingham showed they can score points, especially Jake Mulford, so let’s be patient. The Redcar track hasn’t been the same consistency two matches running due to the weather and length of time between home meetings so is difficult for newbies to get a perfect setting. Mulford has shown speed in every race he just lacks track craft as he’s still a novice at this level. Redcar are a patient club and will give the youngsters time to grow, unlike some, and good on them for it.

My question would be "how many riders would it effect"?

Surely not as many as we think, if you're scoring 3 or 4 points across both leagues with the operating costs, surely you are not making money to start with, so scoring 3 or 4 points in one league and halving your operational costs is probably a benefit

You haven’t factored in the dreaded guarantee. Most 3-4 pointers will be on one so you ARE halving their income.

Maybe you haven't checked who is racing. National League standard racing and I am quite happy to pay to watch.

On top of that I also get all the added value that isn't provided elsewhere.

Give it a try. You might just like it. All delivered at pace and with first class customer service.

I watch more amateur racing than most, and quite a bit of NDL, the IOW do have a sprinkling of NDL riders but so does Scunthorpe , Iwade and Redcar amateur meetings, doesn’t mean you get a viable crowd to watch.

It was nice to read Rob Godfrey's rallying Churchillian war cry, FINALLY for some reason this Wolves news seems to have hit home with him despite his Charimanship since 2018 seeing the closure of Rye House, Somerset, Swindon, Lakeside, Newcastle, Workington, Buxton, Cradley, Eastbourne, Kent, Stoke and the expulsion of IoW. Like others have said with Edinburgh & Peterborough highly doubtful for next year and question marks around Poole's future and the annual Birmingham crisis it could be a total of 15 clubs gone in 5 years under his stewardship... FIFTEEN! Even if you factor in the return of Oxford, Worky & Kent... that's still 12 a number higher than any of the current 3 leagues we have running

Minor point but IOW jumped ship of their own accord , they were not expelled.

Never the less, IT IS STILL RUNNING. Well done to Redcar for allowing that to happen, and shame on tracks that would fall in the Midlands area, give or take a few miles, won't give youngsters the same chance.  I realise that they have to rely on parents/guardian taking them everywhere, so maybe that's the reason. But if it is, why does the NJL manage to operate okay?

It’s still not a ‘MDL league ‘, it’s a challenge fixture between Birmingham and Redcar at best .

As the MDL only used 500 riders the parents/guardian issue wouldn’t have a great deal of bearing , the NJL manages because of Jamie Swales getting the 125’s integrated into the league in 2013 which the MDL refused to do , very short sighted in my opinion. Also the NJL is run by the clubs themselves not ‘ghost teams’ although they did have Halifax and Castleford at various times in the their history.

I wonder why, because they do with the MDL.  Could it because results are changed after the referee has sent his official programme in?

Well they shouldn’t be as it wasn’t difficult to work it out at the time, as long as you understood the rule. Shouldn’t be an issue this year with the change in eligibility. The MDL isn’t running so the SS may have space for NJL news for a change.

The press release from Warriors Shale Track Club says that the Plymouth promotion have told them that they cannot hire the stadium due to pressure from SCB. I will alter my original post to SCB instead of BSPL who I still suspect are behind this.

Doesn’t add up though, does it? They , the SCB , are happy that other tracks run both so why not Plymouth ? The SCB or BSPL cannot stop a stadium owner hiring their stadium to whoever they please

So Plymouth have been forced out of running NORA92 racing by the BSPL! How come they allow NORA events at Scunthorpe and many other tracks?

Is this a case of not being able to run a p*ss up in a brewery and not wanting to be shown up?

Presentation of some evidence that this has actually happened would be good . Several other tracks that run SCB speedway are also running Nora events so something doesn’t add up.

If you can't go without a pee, food or drink for a couple of hours seek medical advice from a doctor, should be the message.

King's Lynn's track grades are purely for concession sales. Some track grades take as long as the interval itself.

It's been this way ever since Buster took over. Remember occasions when he & Huggy used to stop the tractors on track pretending there was an issue. Another trick, even though they had 2 tractors, they'd use up time in between races by unhitching one grader for another.

No idea if they're still doing these tricks over last 6 years though.

A whole meeting (without incident) should easily be completed within 80min's

So you have’nt been for 6 years but are fully qualified to comment on what’s going on at the stadium ?

Most ‘track staff’ are over 50 and if they need a ‘ break ‘, they need a ‘ break ‘ , but you can get all meetings over with in 80 mins when you take over from Phil Morris, can’t you ?

I personally think this is bonkers, most tracks operate an interval after every race hence the time to finish 15 minutes of racing over 2 and a half hours.

    Who needs an interval?

Pure nonsense, who benefits from the interval, OH yes the riders need a break.

This crap has killed the sport.

Breaks are sometimes taken to allow the centre green staff to use the toilet or even grab a cuppa , just remember they are volunteers !
