  1. It goes without saying, the Facennas have been brilliant for Glasgow and British Speedway but the amount of the money and equipment they’ve thrown at riders in desperation to win the league is ludicrous. From what I’ve heard, they’ve also been paying a certain Dane to drop his average this season…

    Edinburgh 2023

Now it’s official, see you all in 2023. https://www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/news-centre/article/2022-10-27/monarchs-reign-set-to-continue-with-armadale-stadium-reprieve

    Edinburgh 2023

Official announcement once all of the ‘Farewell to Armadale’ merchandise has sold In all seriousness, a massive thank you must go to our promotion, they work tireless to keep the club running and have the clubs best interests at heart. Regardless if this deal was announced prior to that meeting or not, I’m sure we’re all delighted to have the Monarchs back for 2023.

    Edinburgh 2023

Deal has been agreed, official announcement from the club on its way. https://theedinburghreporter.co.uk/2022/10/monarchs-look-set-for-armadale-reprieve/?fbclid=IwAR0Ev3wSnFhxZdO5fTgAKF8khpmb2LAFZUTAVJYBfnr-MsiV_QWKPg3xI9k
  5. I’m not sure on the rules but Glasgow were given permission to use a guest for Marcin Nowak at Armadale last season for a wedding event. Don’t agree with it but at least it’s been applied consistently…
  6. Good luck to both sides tonight, looking forward to watching on BSN. Best wishes to Stewart.

    Edinburgh 2023

Strongly believe we will be back at the Dale next season, let’s hope there an announcement soon. With regards to team building… no matter what average Sam is on, he must be the first name in the 1-7. He loves the club and his average is that high for a reason, we’re lucky to have him. Cookie was close to returning this season so we may see him next year, it was certainly good to see him smiling on Saturday. Josh has signed elsewhere from what I’ve heard. If the points limit is lowered then I don’t think we will see both Lasse and Jacob back, both improved over the season so would be hard to pick between them. I’d have Paco back in a heartbeat, he’s an entertainer and gets people through the gate. He’s beat some top riders around Armadale this season and very good value on a 4.93. I agree with you on Lee Complin, another entertainer and always gives 100%. Put in some big scores towards the end of the season and capable of passing at most tracks. If we’re working towards 38 points I’d be looking for something like: Sam, Cookie, Paco, Heeps, Jacob/Lasse, Complin and a 2 pointer.
  10. One of the nicest guys in speedway, has been severely unfortunate in his career, always seems to get bad injuries. With a family to think of, I think it’s the right call. All the best Sarj
  11. Talks have been ongoing with the Cochrane family to extend our stay into 2023. As it stands the stadium has been taken off the market but has yet to be sold. I’m certain the owners would rather have another years lease rather than sitting on an empty stadium. Fingers crossed
  12. Great result tonight from the boys. Complin has been a great addition to the team, he’s great in the pits with the young lads and entertaining to watch. Embo and Kyren impressed me tonight, Josh was electric from the gates and had his best meeting of the season while young Kyren tried different lines and mixed it up. It’s been a tough season but fingers crossed we have a stadium for 2023 and can build upon this season.
  13. IMO putting just under 2 points on your starting average is pretty good. I think the concern with Drew is, when he doesn’t make the gate he struggles a lot. He certainly doesn’t lack ability but hasn’t lived up to the expectations everyone had when he burst on the scene in 2018. He’s a good lad and I’m confident he’ll make another step up next season.

    Swindon Robins 2020

Another sad day for British Speedway and another iconic stadium closed. Condolences to all Swindon fans. I feel the only way forward for the sport and clubs in this country is to build their own facilities. Let’s hope Swindon can find some land soon.
  15. A major disappointment tonight, we just didn’t look up for it. Credit to Leicester, they made the gates and rode well. It was always going to be a tough ask but the team look deflated when Sam isn’t on form. Picko the only Monarch there tonight who looked up for it.
  16. Realistically the only option for the club to run next season would be asking the owners of Armadale to allow us to run there for 2023 imo. Alex, John and Gordon will explore absolutely every possibility to get the Monarchs to the tapes next season. If anyone can find a solution, it’s our promotion.
  17. From what I’ve heard, a certain Brummies rider was being paid by them this season…
  18. I’m certain it’ll be Redcar or Plymouth for us in the QF. I think most of the ties will be close, it should be an interesting end to the season.
  19. This team never know when they are beat. I wouldn’t write us off against anyone over 2 legs. Sam & Josh - the best 1&5 in the league (imo). Lasse has been improving all season and showing he can win races. Kye really improving and now looking like the 3rd heat leader we’ve been missing. Paco could be a game changer, he’s more than capable but needs to find consistency. Young Jacob has been steadily improving all season and really starting to kick on for me. Sarj like Paco could be a game changer, had a horrible time with injuries but always capable of popping out the gate to win. Bring on the playoffs
  20. Horrible day for everyone involved with Newcastle speedway. Can only hope there is someone out there willing to take over for next season. Not a great situation for British Speedway as we could now be looking at Newcastle, Birmingham and ourselves not coming to tapes next season. The revival of Oxford this season and hopefully Workington (Northside) next season gives us hope for the future but it isn’t looking good with more tracks / teams being closed down.
  21. Won’t be Nathan… a rider that has already made a come back this season
  22. There will be a change at number 1 from what I’m hearing
  23. Hopefully Paco’s visa will be through in time for this weekends matches.
