Maybe a move further away from encroaching housing might be the best bet if there is land available. We certainly dont want Swindon to go the same way as Reading with the false promises. With recent talk about the possibility of Oxford re-emerging does anyone think there is a possibility of the licence being moved there?

Peter Craven Memorial Meeting Saturday 1st April 2017
bellevueace replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
What a fantastic meeting that was, race after race producing close racing and passing and re-passing, it goes to show you dont need a GP class of rider to produce stunning speedway, if this had been a GP it would have been lauded from on high. Say what you want about David Gordon and Chris Morton but there is no denying they have left us with a world class track. I think the Aces will suffer in so much as away teams are going to relish coming to Manchester now unlike when we were at the Greyhound track. If we suffer a few defeats due to the track being so fair then so be it. We all want our teams to be succsessful but with this facility and quality of racing we are already winners. Any newbies there last night would be chomping at the bit to get to the next meeting. This is a great oppertunity for the new owners with their business acumen to make a great success of the venue and to take the club onto the next level. -
Yet again a superb pre season issue.

Pity the promotion capitulated to idiotic political correctness as to the rebels flag, the professional offendees will be the same lefty types that rejoice in the likes of St Patricks day etc but are quick to label St Georges day as racist. The promotion should have ignored these goons.

Poole V Belle Vue 5/4/17 And Belle Vue V Poole 7/4/17 Ko Cup.
bellevueace replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well its an early test, Poole have a couple of meetings under their belt already and for us its our first outing of the season. Our two reserves have definitely got the ability to forge good careers for themselves but I think the first round of away matches will be tough for them as they find their feet. Im not expecting too much next week if im honest and as Poole will relish coming up to Manchester we need to try to keep it as tight as possible in the first leg. Ive booked next week off to come down for this and Swindon the next night so hope the fabled Southern weather holds up . If the forecast is iffy will still come down for the night with Swindon in mind. No point wasting a holiday stuck at home. -
I would take Wolves as the team to beat mate, we should be good for a play off place if its Fricke the last signing I would say alongside Poole and Kings Lynn

I was always confident the new stadium would be delivered, but after reading the article in the star about the possible return of Oxford am starting to have a few doubts now. Would be great to have Oxford back but not at the expense of Swindon. Oxford along with Swindon and Coventry would be the ideal thing. These clubs certainly enhance the top league.

Judge, jury, and executioner springs to mind in some cases.
-
Oh right, its just I got the impression they were right behind the continuation of speedway in Swindon.
-
Many thought our new stadium wouldnt happen but it did, yes there have been problems in the first year of operating but hopefully we can now push on. If it did one thing it was to prove how difficult it is to bring this type of project to a conclusion. We saw with reading how plans can fall apart, in Swindons case like the NSS i believe they will get a new stadium, the council down there seems to be supportive of speedway, as for houses near the track we have housing close by so dont think that would put a stop to the plans. And anyone buying would know there is a speedway track nearby similar to people who buy houses near airports, railway lines etc. Many at BV started to think it wouldnt happen it did, it will happen in Swindon too. Look forward to visiting on April 6th the Abbey has plenty of memories.

Thanks, ive got a soft spot for Somerset and always manage to get down there when I'm on my way to Cornwall. Ive already booked a couple of days off for when the Aces visit great track at the Oak Tree and great real ales at the Crossways inn

Terrible news but not unexpected, whats left hardly constitutes a league does it? Whilst Horton is not squeaky clean Sandhu is the main villain in this sad saga. Obviously The Leicester move was a safety net just in case the Belle Vue deal did not materialize, once that was announced Coventry get thrown under the bus. Really feel for all the bees fans, I am certainly going to miss my trips to Brandon, the sport in this country really is on a rapid downward spiral. We need Coventry back and we need it ASAP.

Better than the option of no refund in any form, any outstanding monies owed were not the new managements debts, so they offewr free entry and still get criticised ?
-
If the amount MCC withheld from ISG over the track/stadium defects had been given as compensation to G&M wouldn't that have covered the stated £500,000 the new owners have allegedly cleared? I was under the impression that money from MCC had not been forthcoming hence the formers financial difficulties, or have I got that wrong?
-
A very positive meeting last night and the new owners have the type of business acumen that really was needed from the very start once the new stadium opened its doors.
-
What about the winter of discontent between Coventry and Peterborough?
-
But they don't have level of business experience of these two fred. If G & M did not sign for the stadium as things were not completed to plan considering the cost of the south side terracing, the temp stand, track problems etc. Which could have closed the club one has to ask why they agreed to run. I would have thought without actually signing some sort of acceptance document they couldn't have run? Just assuming as I don't know how these legalities actually work. Just seems odd anyone would take on a venture that was going to land them in so much debt.
-
The delays in negotiations is probably MCC having to deal with businessmen with real business acumen who certainly will make sure all bases are covered. Cant imagine this pair paying for a stadium that has not been completed to plan.
-
Also add on the time the ball is out of play ie throw inns, corners, free kicks etc and even with added on time games are well short of said 90 minutes. Only in sports like ice hockey where the clock stops when there are stoppages do you actually get the full game time. Given that the only time you don't get the full quota at speedway is if the meeting is cut short by a curfew or rain.
-
Look how long it took us to get the project started, the abbey is going to be available until the new stadium is ready so shouldn't impact on the team, and the council in Swindon are also supportive of the robins are,nt they? As we have proven these things move at a snails pace, im sure the new stadium will be delivered albeit behind schedule.
-
Told us nothing we didn't already know.
-
Lets hope for more good news that the Bees have been sorted and will be coming to the tapes. Im keeping a couple of holiday days aside for when we visit Brandon, keep positive.
-
If Coventry do fold with the few teams left and the overall strength of the league really it wont be fit for purpose, what a complete mess this sport is in. Really feel for the Bees fans, if this is the end what a terrible way for one of the sports most famous names to finish on. Simple fact is speedway cant afford to lose Coventry Bees. I wonder if Bomber had an inkling when putting in his transfer request?

I tend to go down with the tent and spend a couple of days, agree with others above, always enjoy the trips, fans are friendly good away trip.

Just ignore the sad knobhead, says everything about a person when they are so desperate for attention.
