Alcohol At Cardiff
bellevueace replied to loyal royal's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The decent well behaved people who enjoyed a drink before the event wouldnt suffer through a policy of banning those drunk at the turnstiles as they would be sober and well behaved. Only those that go ott and cant hold their drink would suffer. -

Belle Vue 80th Anniversary Meeting
bellevueace replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Thanks for sharing your views Gordon. The whole management team have to take a huge well done for a great night 10/10. It just shows that when publicised well, given some added entertainment people will come out and support speedway. In the pub afterwards there were several people who decided to go and take a look at what all the fuss was about, being non speedway fans they were really buzzing and said it was the best night they had attended in ages. Is it coincidence that in speedways boom years with the huge crowds promoters used to include all sorts of added entertainments? -
Belle Vue 80th Anniversary Meeting
bellevueace replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
10/10 for the management on this, a good atmosphere was created and the whole night was well organised and enjoyable. Some good races and in the pub afterwards there was a group of people who had decided to go along and they absolutley loved the whole night, was a young lad stood next to me and after peter collins did his demonstration ride said that was all he wanted the chance to see a legend actually slide the bike, his smile said it all. It just goes to show if you publicise meetings and add a bit of entertainment the crowds will respond. Why cant league meetings be like this? -

With rider withdrawls must admit this meeting is becoming less and less attractive, probably save some driving hours and go to stoke sunday instead. -

Swc Round 2 Coventry 14th July
bellevueace replied to skid row's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lynch was proved right with his defeatist but honest appraisal of tonights meeting. Truth is we are just not good enough to step up to the top table. Cant see where another collins, carter, morton, jessup, lee, louis, etc is going to come from, theres a couple of promising lads coming through but not i fear of the above quality. With such a poor investment in young home based riders what do you expect. I know someone who,s lad has just started riding, he,s finding out just how difficult it is to get a couple of laps in. Compare that to the excellent danish youth policy and there you go. -
The Cardiff Grand Prix Discussion Thread
bellevueace replied to PhilK's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree i think his tratment by the crowd was a disgrace, if the positistions between him and adams in heat 17 had been reversed can you imagine the reaction? Full credit to him for getting his bike off the track in the final, i think crumpy should be grateful as well as i think if it had been rerun hancock would have got the drop. As for the track, terrible, lets all be glad no rider was seriously injured, in a season where theres been far too many injuries. -
Hes just realised speedway beats a proper day job

It just proves you dont need all the top guys to have entertaining speedway.

Return To The Old Ways Or . . . .
bellevueace replied to uglydave's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Ive never liked th GP series, much prefered the tension of the big night during the days of the one off final. The atmosphere of Cardiff is great but you dont actually get a result from the meeting, last year there was no excitement at all with Crump walking it, how often is it going to go down to the wire in this series? Its ok saying the expansion of the GP,s puts speedway on a par with formula 1 and moto cross, these sports dont run a bread and butter league which will in the end suffer badly from the omission of the top riders as they chase GP glory. I remember the British Final being a great meeting with meaning. Compare Collins, Louis, Carter, Jessup, Lee, Morton, Boocock, Simmons, Wilson, etc with the line up at monmore, no comparison at all, neither is there between the one off or GP for me. With all the GP exposure the terraces remain the same, the series certainly hasnt had new fans running to the turnstiles. With the omission of so many top riders in the future the reverse will soon be evident im afraid. -
Swedish Gp Week- No Hancock!
bellevueace replied to From PC to KC.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The start of the elite going into meltdown as the gp series grows. Im one of those that prefers the old one off final, stuck in the past maybe but there was no threat to the bread and butter league racing at the top level. The expansion of the gp is going to prove costly to the sport domestically in general. -
Wasnt that long ago that a few people down on the south coast were talking up lindback as the next big thing in world speedway, what a difference a season can make. He wont be the first rider to suffer after dropping the british league from his schedule. Suddenly not looking the complete article, comes across as a rider that is losing heart in the sport at the moment.

Who Will Challenge Nicki In 2007?
bellevueace replied to Bonsai Diamond's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Also you need to take into consideration that the Crump of 2006 might have been a freak - Jason's standards are mighty high but will he ever be as good over a whole season as last year again? Maybe. Course not as hes left the Aces -

Yeah, but dropping back down to the Premier League with Kings Lynn in 2007 seems a bit too soon for him. Lol Maybe he knows a bit more about Lynn coming up next season

Scott Nicholls
bellevueace replied to Hans Andersen No1 Fan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Its a hard game especally at GP level its good to see Scott mixing it and seeming to want it more, you need to be physically and mentally tough hope Scott keeps it up and has more GP success. -
Well done to Crumpy should be another world champion crowned wearing the Aces jacket. As for him not riding for the Aces in 2007 well hes stated he would like to end his career at KL, we need to give him the support he deserves at team level. I think all those that call him on here would welcome him at their club next season with open arms, as for his attitude its called being a winner.

Middlo Is Another Sven
bellevueace replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Says it all that middlos supporters on here also seem to be personal friends of his, at the end of the day your judged on results and after 6 years of failure its not unreasonable to want a change of ideas. -
Who knows if Stead would have done any better? There seems plenty of psychics on here confident he wouldnt have done, could he have done any worse? Louis is at the back end of his career albeit riding well for Ipswich at the moment, but talking of the future the likes of Stead need the experiance of these meetings to be able to gain the experiance to progress and to compete on this type of stage, if stead had performed like louis at least he would be gaining experiance for the future, lets be honest CL future isnt going to be riding for his country, more experianced riders than stead didnt exactly score well at Reading and the chance to gain experiance of these events has been wasted.

Middlo Is Another Sven
bellevueace replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well theres signs that we have some good riders starting to come through, Bridger, Auty, etc, what they need is nurturing without any added pressures and we might just be able to build a side worthy of challenging for these championships within a few years.
