  1. Poll requested by Skid Sprocket

It is often said that crowds are dwindling at speedway meetings and that it is only the older generation that support the sport. This anonymous poll is an attempt to find out the facts from each forum member who does attend by age, gender etc.

    Did you attend at least 2 meetings during the 2014 season either home or away for any speedway team and are;

  2.

It is expecting one hell of a turnaround from a business that's lost in excess of £400,000 in just over 2 years to turn a £25,000 profit in 3 months

    I know what you mean.

I have no knowledge on this but just a question... Could any sky or sponsorship money be ring fenced to pay this investor back first ? How much do they get from sky? 100k ? Which presumably some is paid at the end of season ?

Feel so sorry for the riders who have got homes and families to support, They should be paid first !!!!

  3. I wouldn't be wasting my time wondering whether he's "telling the truth or more half truths".

If Charles Phillips has listened to an offer like that and been so impressed by it that he wants to make it public knowledge, then Charles Phillips should never have been allowed any financial responsibility beyond continuing to store a few coins in his childhood piggy-bank !!

How the hell is a loss-making next-to-bottom team for the past 3-&-a-bit months (and currently out-of-favour with its stadium-landlord) going to make £25,000 profit in the next 3-&-a-bit months so that the "going halves" new investor can have his rescue money returned to him on time ? !!

I've seen plenty of financial cluelessness with speedway but that might well be the new number-1

SKY payment each club receives. ?

  4. Yes you are dam right that fans should be more welcoming on here!

It is very common to have a high % of readers than posters. The viewing numbers of the forum have been pretty constant for the last 3 years. How that follows with the attendance to tracks going down ?

With speedway prices going up some people have over the last 3 to 5 years had to make cuts or choices with where they spend their money and I think the diehard fans who go week in week out have lowered and pick and choose their meeting and as result don’t post on the forum as often.

People lives are always changing, start families, change jobs, buy houses, retire etc. Speedway seems to attract less new fans to tracks than it losses through natural changing in circumstances.

  5. The future of Birmingham speedway is in doubt after the promoter Alan Phillips has had enough!

"THE British Speedway Promoters’ Association can confirm tonight’s Poole v Birmingham Elite League meeting WILL go ahead as planned at Wimborne Road.

Representatives of the BSPA are currently in dialogue with relevant parties with the sole aim of ensuring the continuation of the sport at Perry Barr Stadium"

  6. I think rusky and SCB have got it spot on. Jack is a well established and respected commenter. He is great on Superbike commentary. :) He tends to be a talker rather than just commentating the actual race on who is in the lead. Any motorbike fan tuning in will recognise it jack! and watch a bit more. Just a shame the speedway racing is not up to much.

  7. All they can do is try there best. Nothing wrong with getting it wrong but it is making sure they listen to the fans after doing it wrong and not making the same mistakes again!

Why not try dropping the race card and give programmes ago. Not for me but all they can do is try.

Personally for two people to watch 15 heats of speedway at £32 it just too expensive / value for money so don't go as often as we used to. But that just me.
