Maybe it's because he isn't scared to say what he thinks for the fear of being politically "uncorrect," much in the same vein as Havvy. If that's the case, good on 'em & anyone else who tells it like it is. Too much in speedway is sanitised & "oh, you can't say that." Well, why the hell not?

Not me! I have no view on Andersen either way. Being involved at Somerset & an Exeter fan, I couldn't care less either way for Holta or Andersen, but to say Andersen took him off on purpose in this incident is ludicrous. It was a racing incident. Nothing more.

I have watched this race over & over again after reading this forum, not to mention the discussion it caused with the friends I was with. Personally I think Holta was a little lucky to be in the re-run in the first place as he was out of control entering the first bend in the first attempt at running the race & it was down to his (unintentional) turning right that the other two riders went down. As for the incident itself, they were knocking lumps out of each other for the whole race & although Hans did touch Rune's leg, the Norseman put his leg down again & then swept it backwards as he went wider. Only he will know of course, but with the high stakes in the GP, I wonder if he did take the risk of putting it down in the hope of getting Hans excluded. From the views I have seen, even after the contact, Rune looked in control & I feel could have stayed up if he chose to.

This is true, however, I think it's fair to say Mr Gollob is a different rider these days. I'm not sure if he has mellowed with age or if he has a more laid back approach to the whole thing, but he is certainly a more "controlled" rider these days. I think it's also fair to say he is actually quite popular with his fellow competitors now. I think it is also fair to say he speaks for many of his fellow GP riders with these comments on Nicki Pedersen.

I know Steve gets a lot of grief on this forum But he has it spot on in my opinion.

Had an fantastic day at Cardiff. So many positive points from a brilliant event. Firstly well done to Greg on Winning. Secondly, what a fantastic performance from Lee Richardson to get on the rostrum, it would seem he is the latest rider to make "the step up" - well done sir! Thirdly, how great was Floppy? He should be in every GP on that showing. Brilliant third to firts in his first race, a fantastic cut back to leave Trick in his wake & fighting every inch of the way in all his other races. And such a great guy. Fourthly, a good "one off" track & just THE most amazing atmosphere. Unbelievable! Fifthly, well done to all the English riders - they did us so proud on the night, fighting every inch of the way every time they were on track. Moving on, "themanwidtheplan" - get a life! Hancock, dirty? I think you must have been mistaking him with some Danish guy called Pedersen. Finally, to the idiot sat next to me & the rest of you who cheered when Lee Richardson slid off on the first bend. I hope he finished ahead of your favourites. If that was the case - you got what you deserved - two fingers from England's current number one.

When it comes to International action, there is no contest as far as I am concerned. I don't care if it's speedway, football, rugby, cricket, tiddly-winks, elephant polo or camel racing. COME ON ENGLAND!

Thanks Splatty. Just called it how I saw it. Always interesting to be in the box with a ref. Whilst they don't explain it to the public, they often explain their decisions to those in the box. Posselwhite however, wouldn't know a decent decision if it smacked him in the face.

I like this topic! Just read through all the posts & I suspect you could make a valid argument for almost the names here. As we are all entitled to our view I would like to add mine please. If the track is so similar to Monmore then I think Dave Norris has to be given a go for a few reasons:- 1. He is CURRENTLY in great form 2. He beat Mikael max @ Monmore when guesting for Swindon & not many can do that. 3. He would make just fantastic TV Of the others, Havvy is in great form, is a "tell it like it is" kinda guy & would ride through a brick wall for England, Screenie is a "bums on seats guy", Neath, Bird, Harris, Howe etc all give us an eye for the future, Robbo deserves a go just for his 110% effort & professionalism, Louis as he has the experience, nouse & above all, speed to make some progress. On balance, Norris & Havvy for me. If we want something to cheer for then you need to go for the form guys & they are certainly in form. You could also argue that Shaggy & Louis are, but they have had a crack so David would get my nod & Havvy has always been able to lift himself for the "big" occasion & they won't come much bigger than 12th June. Whoever it is, lets hope it's 2 Brits & lets GET BEHIND THEM!!!!

Interesting comment concerning Rickardsson & the lack of exclusions for the Swede. I think the nail has been hit firmly on the head. He was fortunate last night & he was doubly fortunate in Stockholm. Surprised at Tony Steele, but as you say, he bottled it.

Not posted on this forum before, so Hi everyone. I found it by typing some phrases in google & these threads about last night's GP came up. I had to look as I was so incensed by what I saw go on. I am an announcer at a track in the UK (and have announced at three other tracks in the past), so am in a privileged position, I guess. I have got to work with many referees past & present, so this thread intrigues me more than the one about Pedersen being dirty, although I may be tempted to post on that one too The incident between Pedersen & Brhel was clear cut & I feel that most referees would have seen it the same way. There may not have been much contact, but the fact is, Pedersen pushed Brhel over & this caused the fall. Therefore, I don't see that the referee had much choice. The incident where Tony fell was less obvious, clearly. They all moved over & he ran out of room. It could have been so much worse & I was glad to see him make a full & speedy recovery. Whilst the referee showed "common sense" he took an easy way out in a lot of ways. There is absolutley no allowance in the rule book for not excluding somebody should the race be stopped after the first turn after someone has fallen. (I have discussed this with 2 heads of the SCB in the past & present & they were both adamant). I am not suggesting the rule book is right, but the rule book is there for a reason & Posselwhite didn't make a decision when he should have. There are many arguments here, but if you apply the letter of the law to it's fullest degree then Tony should have been excluded as he was the reason the race had to be stopped. I don't feel you could exclude Andersen as he was in front, therefore he could pick his line & Gollob was "just in the way." It would have been a harsh decision, but in the letter of the "law" - the right one. As for the Pedersen/Hancock incident. How anyone can defend either the rider (Pedersen) or Posselwhite's decision is beyond me. Pedersen came from nowhere & rode straight into Hancock. Pedersen was certainly culpable for the crash & Posselwhite for not being able to make the right decision. His "all four back" decision was one of the worst I have seen & was made even more so by the fact that he was able to watch it from every possible angle before making the decision. I suspect that there could have been two things that influenced his decision. 1) Ole Olsen, who will do anything for a Dane to win (he has far too much power) & 2) the decision he made over the crash with Tony. Having not excluded anyone there, he may have felt he had to make the same decision in the second one. Comments concerning the re-run & suggesting Hancock "fenced" Pedersen? You must have been using the same glasses as the referee, who incidentally I have worked with more than a few times in the past & I have to say that he is one of the worst there is, so his inept performance came as no shock to me.
