  1.

Awww.. spinning the Jon Cook woe is me record.

The TR can have a massive impact upon the racing. It can lift the spirits of the away team and give them momentum in the meeting, which results in more effort and better racing. I've seen it many times.

Or you can do away with it and have the losing team give up 5 or 6 heats in and go through the motions.

Spot on. One team gaining a 7 point advantage in one heat can have a massive effect on the psyche of both teams. Happens all the time.

Last night I hated it with a passion, but when it goes for you it's brill. It's part of the sport now, and there's no doubt it can revive life into a match that looks like it's all over by heat ten, last night being a case in point.

    Long live the tactical rule......

  2. Big congratulations to the Bees on their victory last night!

As always it's galling to lose at home to the bees, especially when there are tacticals involved, but it's worked in our favour plenty of times, so we can't complain, and in any case, the bees still had to go out and win races in the final third of the meeting, which they did, so fair play to them! :)

Hansen and Garity impressed me for the Bees, Shamek and Josh for the Pirates.

Some decent racing, good company, wrong result. As the great Philosopher Meatloaf once said "two out of three ain't bad"

  3. My argument is if he rides in the gp and doesnt fulfill team commitments in whatever country then he is after personal rather then team gain.

Also if he rides eleswhere and not for Poole then surely the pirates are bottom of his priorities or is he simply riding where the best wage packet will be? And to be fair cant blame him for that.

I just know if my best rider was riding everywhere apart from my team id fell pretty cheated to be honest

If he can only do 2 meetings a week (say) then surely he's got to do the two that are easiest on his leg (bigger less technical tracks) and the ones that are going to pay most. It's a no brainer.

As I was trying to explain to everyone's favourite midlander, it might be disappointing, but fully understandable, and I would hold no personal grievance with Darcy Ward if that's what he chooses to do.

The suggestion that if he rides elsewhere then he MUST ride here holds no water.

  4. I agree with that. But the rules don't allow a facility for that.

And as Shovvy was so against Lukas Dryml riding in the Under 21s and GP qualifiers in 2001 while injured and Oxford using guests for him I'm sure he'd agree that it should not be allowed.

Absolutely, I'm not suggesting Poole should be granted facilities to cover for him, but anyone who thinks that if he rides elsewhere then he's automatically fit to ride here is wrong.....

Its just the taste of your post, little hard to swallow as per.

You don't want Darcy missing meetings for Poole but any else that says so is daft.

    Cant say i`m surprised.

That's not exactly what I said though was it? We can all make rubbish up mate.

I said "I'd be disappointed if he chooses to ride elsewhere but not here" which I would be, he's arguably the most exciting rider in the world right now, obviously I'd be disappointed if he can't/chooses not to ride here. Note: I didn't say "I'd be disappointed in him" or "I think he's letting Poole down" or "I'd think less of him". The fact MAY be that his injury dictates he has to cut down on his schedule, which would mean fulfilling some, but not all of his commitments. If he chooses Poland/Sweden/GPs then so be it, it would be disappointing, but understandable.

I then went on to say that "anyone who states that if he's fit enough to ride elsewhere then he's fit enough to ride here, is daft" because that's a daft statement to make.

It categorically is NOT the same as saying "anyone who doesn't want Darcy Ward to miss meetings here is daft"

I hope this clears things up Steve :)

  5. not sure anyone is saying that.

    Really?

But if he is going to continue riding then he must honour all his clubs commitments

Why should Ward not ride? Never get how a rider is fit enough for personal glory not team stuff.

If he is fit to ride in Poland /Sweden then there is no excuse to not ride for Poole.

    hmmmmm

What's the matter brum? Something in your eye?

  6. While, personally I want to see Darcy back and will be disappointed if he chooses to ride elsewhere but not in England, anyone using the "if he's fit to ride there he's fit to ride here" line is daft.

The injury he has is not as simple as that. He may be able to ride to a point but perhaps not to full capacity. This county has a hectic schedule and it may deemed that riding one or two meetings a week on the continent plus the occasional GP is manageable, whereas doubling that workload by riding here too, isn't.

  7. Not a bad meeting given that it was daytime, which always leads to a shockingly dusty track at Poole.

There were a few decent races, and beating Swindon is always a bonus.

The dust isn't the main problem with the track though, the problem at Poole is the fact there are holes all over the bloody place, but since Matt doesn't own the track and can only really work on it for limited periods it's difficult to know what can be done to sort it.. Either way, a sh1te track is still a track and it's the same for everyone.

The griping from the Swindon fans has more to do with the fact their team got tonked out of sight than anything else, I know this because I've complained bitterly about away tracks when I've seen Poole get stuffed, when in reality its frustration with getting a hammering....

Charles Wright was very impressive today, and although he didn't get many points, Lee Smart is growing in me, he's not the quickest, but he has a go, and that's all you can ask for really.......

No it doesn't, It suggest that the BSPA aren't allowing anyone to see it so they can go print off their own free programmes.

Of all the nonsense young Stevey comes out with, and let's face it, there's A LOT (approaching 20,000 posts chock full of it I believe), this might just be my favourite.

Akin to a fire fighter going above and beyond and going back into the house to make sure everybody's out, Mr Brum has stretched himself way past the usual limits of human endurance in the quest of reaching the pinnacle of utter idiocy this time.

    Stevebrum, we salute you!
